Firefox is no longer retaining my passwords, especially when accessing my email. How do I re-activate my user/password retention info.?

Comcast is my email provider. Until recently, I could go to the Comcast 'start' page, select 'email' and a window would appear that had a blank 'username' and blank 'password' window. By clicking in the blank 'username' window, I would get a drop down menu of usernames, and, after selecting one, the password would automatically install in the password window. It no longer does this,(don't get the drop down menu and thus cannot get auto install of passwords) and the Comcast tech. support people tell me it's a malfunction of my browser (Firefox). How do I reactivate this feature in Firefox?

Go to Options -> Security and in Passwords Section Click "Saved Passwords" and in it Select Yahoo and Delete it.

how do I uncheck the password authtication when setting up email accounts on ipad 2

As best I know all ISP providers operating Mail Servers for their customers REQUIRE "password authentication" in order to access and download your email.  Why wouldn't you want to set it?
    Hope this helps

  • I have a confirmed, password, but when I try to sign a pdf, I get an "Incorrect password" message.

I recently changed my Adobe reader password. When I try to sign a PDF, I am told my password is incorrect. How can i fix this so I can sign documents?

Adobe Reader doesn’t have a password. Your digital signature may. If you are having an issue with the password, you will need to create a new digital signature.

i have an old apple id coming up on my iphone. i do not have a valid password and every attempt to reset it either by email or by questions does not work. When i select email to reset i do not receive an email in any of my mail boxes. when i select ask questions - my answers do not match
    please help

If you're talking about an old iCloud ID, you have to delete the old account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

MOD EDIT: Removed personal information to comply with Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions of Use.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I cannot tell for sure from your description which of these applies to you...
If this is your independent BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) credentials, then you simply need to ring up your mobile service provider as they manage your BIS account for you.
But, if your provider has merged (as they all are doing) your BIS credentials into your BlackBerry ID account, then your challenge is greater. Start first with these please:
KB28685 How to reset the BlackBerry ID password using the password recovery question
    KB24157 BlackBerry ID lockout behavior
KB32111 "The link is no longer valid." is encountered when attempting to reset a BlackBerry ID password
KB26361 How to change or reset the BlackBerry ID password
KB28111 Unable to reset BlackBerry ID password when using a BlackBerry hosted email address
KB28232 BlackBerry ID reset email is not being delivered to the associated mailbox
If you have forgotten your BB ID credentials AND have non-BB access (e.g., Outlook, webmail, etc.) to the email account that is currently configured to your BB ID account, then those instructions should allow you to recover access to your BB ID account, even without the password or recovery question (please read them all carefully to find the section that applies to you).
As a last automated resort, and only if you have the original email you received when you originally created your BBID (it cannot be regenerated), then it should contain a link to actually now destroy your BBID. Then, you create a new BBID, but using the exact same credentials (username, email address), and it is supposed to relink all of your prior BBWorld records (purchases, downloads) and allow you to continue on.
However, if you do not have access to that email account, or if you never properly validated your BBID account, then your challenge is much greater, and you have a choice to make depending on your circumstances:
If you have no AppWorld records, BBM Contacts, etc. that you require to retain (e.g., purchase records for apps), then simply abandon the BB ID and create a new one. To do so, however, does require a device WIPE:
KB26694 How to change the BlackBerry ID on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry smartphone
But, if you do have AppWorld records, BBM Contacts, etc. that you must keep, then you require human intervention. To receive that, you must ring up your mobile service provider and convince them to escalate your case up to BlackBerry. Further, you must convince BlackBerry to provide you with a solution -- which likely will either be resetting your current BB ID so that you can again access it or having you create a new BBID and they will manually move your purchase records over. Note that I have no idea if they will be willing to do this, but there is no other way that I know of to retain your prior AppWorld purchase records.
    Good luck!

  • How to get rid of the user password during start up of the newly upgraded 10.6 Mac to 10.7 Lion?

    Hi All,
I previously ran Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard on my MacBook. I upgraded to 10.7 Lion today and it was successfully done. After the Mac had restarted, it took me to the usual login page (now with grey background) and was asking me for a user password. I didn't set up a password on the 10.6. I only used to hit the Return key on the keyboard and the Mac was logging me in. And now with Lion, it asks for password and whenever I press the Return key on the keyboard, it does not log me in. It shows the password hint instead. The hint says "Wala" (A filipino term for "none". I indicated it like that when I setup my user account). And Lion does not let me login without typing in a password. I don't know what to type since I don't have a password setup. Is there a way to bypass this? Can someone help shed light on this? Thank you.

As Baltwo said, you should have a password set on your computer for secutity reasons. You can set it to automatically log you on if you are the only user when starting up and you don't need to input the password.
What Baltwo was getting to was to make sure nothing was in the field such as a space. Apparantly, it won't let you log into it without a password.
I seem to remember a default password in past systems. I think it was computer. Try typing that in. If it doesn't work, then follow the steps in this article and set a password for your user account.

  • I'm trying to access a forum that requires a user name and password.  When I do it on my mac it tells me the password is incorrect but when I do it on my iPad, I can access it without any problem.  I can confirm the username and password are the same

I am trying to access a forum for which you need a username and password but it keeps telling me the username/password i've entered are incorrect.  Bizarrely, when I enter the same username/password combination on my iPad, it grants access without any problem.
What could be causing this, is it an issue with cookies, caches or similar.  How can I resolve it?  The forum administrator is at a loss as to what the problem is.

Try the following steps in Safari to see if they help:
    1) First try clearing the Safari cache.  To do this pull down the Safari menu and select 'Empty cache...', then try logging into the site again.
    2) If the issue continues then reset Safari by pulling down the Safari menu and select'Reset Safari...'. You will be presented with a list of items that can be reset. I suggest selecting the 'Reset saved names and passwords', and 'Remove all website data' options at a minimum.
Here is a list of the options and what they do. I pulled it from the Safari help page.
    Clear history:
Clears the list of webpages you viewed.
    Reset Top Sites:
Clears any changes you made to Top Sites, such as adding or pinning sites. If you also clear your history, your Top Sites page reverts to showing the webpage previews displayed when you first installed Safari.
    Remove all webpage preview images:
Clears any thumbnail images Safari saved of webpages you viewed.
    Clear the Downloads window:
Clears the list of files you downloaded from websites. Only the names are removed; the files themselves are still on your disk until you remove them.
    Remove all website icons:
Removes website icons, which are small graphics that help identify sites on the Internet. You see them in the Safari address field and bookmarks list, and other places. These icons are stored on your computer.
    Remove saved names and passwords:
Removes user names and passwords that Safari automatically fills in at websites that require them (if the AutoFill feature is turned on).
    Remove other AutoFill form text:
Removes some personal information, such as telephone numbers, that Safari uses to automatically fill in forms on webpages (if the AutoFill feature is turned on). Removing AutoFill information does not remove information from your address book.
    Close all Safari windows:
If you don’t close all Safari windows, someone could use the Back and Forward buttons to view the webpages you visited.
    Reset all location warnings:
Clears any information websites saved about your location.
    Remove all website data:
Removes cookies, tracking information, and other data that websites stored on your computer.

  • I am unable to access my email. I can sign in with my password, then a message comes up that says "The plug-in for this page has been disabled. Click here to manage your plug-ins." All plug-ins listed are enabled. What am I missing?

I am unable to access my email from Charter.net. I can sign in with my password, then a message comes up which says "The plug-in for this page has been disabled. Click here to manage your plug-ins." All of my plug-ins are enabled. What am I missing?

After a great deal of searching I ran across the suggestion to disable all plug-ins and then, one by one, enable them until finally the problem was solved. I am not sure which plug-in was causing the problem, as I am satisfied to have the problem solved. I am going to leave the rest of the plug-in disabled.

  • I am unable to access my AOL (netscape) mail suddenly - I follow aol's suggestions and still cannot access my email account (although I am able to change password, etc)

I am unable to access my aol (netscape.net) email account. I followed aol's suggestions and still cannot get my emails. I am able to change my password and account settings though

If you use iCloud as well, you can try adding it back to your accounts as well.  I have 7 email accounts (including iCloud and a Yahoo account) in mail on my iPhone and iPad and have no problems with them.  I suspect it was not removing iCloud that fixed your problem, it was the re-entering the Yahoo account login credentials (maybe they just got corrupted - could be as simple as that).
If you do add iCloud back, and it causes problems right away with your Yahoo, then you should send a ticket in to the iCloud support folks as that would seem to be something not working correctly?
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/
Also if you actually deleted the iCloud account, remember you can keep the account, and just disable it for mail in the iCloud settings (so you can keep using iCloud for other features even if you do not want to use iCloud mail).

  • How to find the forgotten oracle user password?

    Hi,
I forgot my oracle user password. Is there any possibility to find the password without resetting through system user.

Going by Oracle books, its not possible, but there are ways of knowing the users password, which in other words is known as Bruteforcing.

  • When responding to emails, box pops up asking for my Icloud password, each time.

When responding to emails on my IPhone, a box pops up asking me to enter my ICloud Password. I enter it in, but box pops up even after correct password is entered.

I didn't think to look in the keychain. I don't really use it for keeping passwords and the like. I use a separate app for that. I found an expired certificate of some kind, deleted it, logged out of iCloud in the system preferences and let it do all of the deleting it wanted to. Logged back in and bingo, no message. However, for some reason it enabled the Guest user access on my computer. No big deal, just turned it back off.
    Thanks for the clue.

I changed the password on my home accesspoint.  How do I get that change into my ipod touch.  It works fine if I change back to the old password. How do I get it to respond to the new password?

Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will have to reenter the passwords for all networks.

  • Firefox no longer automatically opens app tabs when I start it, how do I fix this?

Previously when I had an app tab open and closed firefox it would be opened with my home page next time, I just activated firefox sync and this no longer happens.

A good reason to not count on app-tabs as always being restored. Put your app-tabs into a bookmark folder so you can open them into tabs when you need to recreate them.
See if you can get your app-tabs back via History > Restore Previous Session, then after that
History > Restore previous Windows and then maybe restore previous tabs.
I don't use sync and have no idea if it is involved in your problem. I do periodically close all of my tabs, close and restart Firefox, and then reconstruct my app-tabs by opening a folder into tabs. I had to number the titles in the folder so that the tabs would be in the order that I want them to be in as I do use the "Sort Places" extension to sort my bookmarks into alphabetical order.

  • My Firefox will no longer open a new tab when i click on it or when i use the shortcut.

I have tried looking through all the setting that it gave me and i can not find when it wont let me open a new tab. All the settings i have are the default settings and before it happened i hadn't even been into the setting so its not like i was messing with them and then it messed up it just happened one time. I do not have any viruses or anything because i use 3 different virus scans and they say my computer its clean. Also my virus scanning programs are up to date i updated them today.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
