Firefox is not available in C:\Program Files and in Add/Remove Programs

I am trying to run an Oracle application which is currently installed in one of our user's PCs, but when we try to generate a report it would fail to do so as Mozilla Firefox is installed on the system and I believe it is set as the default browser. I tried to uninstall it as it is not required anymore, but to my shock I didn't find it in Add\Remove Programs list and also not in C:\Program Files. I tried installed Windows Clean-Up utility, but the application doesn't exist there either. I want to remove Mozilla completely, can someone please help?!! By the way, I also deleted the Mozilla files under the Application Data of all user accounts on that machine; still no luck.

I believe that it's a good idea to leave them be JUST in case they installed a dependency that a new application is using.
This isn't exactly likely but it could happen.
When I'm uninstalling applications I use a tool called
Revo Uninstaller  which finds files and registry entries that applications might leave behind.
Will your machine explode and Windows stop booting? Probably not.
Are these left-over files destroying your Hard Drive capacity? Again, Probably not.
Basically, I can't think of much of a reason to delete them so I think it's decent to leave them just in case, but again it probably wont do any damage. Running an third-party application like
CCleaner is also good practice and could likely delete some of the unwanted/unneeded files and crud like that.
Also, most application settings are usually present in the C:\Users\UserAccount\Application Data\ and not in the Program Files or Program Data.
Goodluck bud,
Any questions or concerns feel free to let me know.

  • Windows 7 Bug: Add/remove program list not populating correctly

  • Help writing a program that uses Add/Remove programs

    Hey everyone,
I'm trying to create a program that will utilize add/remove programs to repair an installation of a program. Specifically I'm trying to write something that will help automate repairs of QuickBooks installations. I've tried using Filemon to figure out what executables I might need to call and I've searched high and low in the forums and Google for help but I'm not getting anywhere. Is there some sample code out there that shows you how to work with the Add/remove programs screen and the programs in it?
Thank you for any help you all can provide me.

It might be possible if you use the JNI, ** ouch ** That's going to hurt.
but more than likely, Java is a poor choice for the program that you're trying to write.I'll second that. You might want to try C# if you want to write a more Windows-centric program. Its syntax is extremely similar to Java's (I wouldn't say that it was ripped-off of Java, but you could say that probably and not be wrong). But it is a powerful language with a rich library and would interact with the Windows libraries much more readily than java would.

  • Firefox crashed 2 days ago and will now not open, and won't uninstall via Control panel add/remove programs; the files are still there on Windows Explorer. IE8 still works.

My PC is a fujitsuscaleo 600, last year I had a new hard drive and some extra RAM fitted and since then has been good - have used, and updated Firefox for over 6 years. in August I installed TrendMicro antivirus and for different reasons this has been uninstalled/re-installed twice. AFter letting it expire, I re-installed ParetoLogic PC health advisor (I think in August too)and allowed it to try updating some graphics drivers following a scan - this was unsuccessful so I marked them to ignore (something about my graphics card not supporting the drivers downoladed). I can see the mozilla files on WIndow Explorer but if I click 'remove' (control panel, add/remove programs) I get a very short 'hourglass' then nothing; if I click Firefox icon I get the same. Help!

    We can do as follows:
    1. Mark sure the page URL is correct.
    2. Check whether current user has permission to access  the page.

  • 8dot3 filenames not created for Program Files and Program Files (x86)

Interesting issue we are realizing on Servers deployed from SCCM 2012. 8dot3names are not created for Program Files and Program Files (x86). they are created for other files/folders at the root of C and below Program Files and Program Files (x86). This is
causing issues when programs are installed and the path is then created with 8dot3 filenames for program files and program files (x86)

Arg. we just got bitten by this "feature", and it's affecting our security software stack (name starts with M and ends with ee), and some ancient crud too.
And found this, which suggests a logical reason for 8dot3name to not be present on servers, but, on clients, I think it's a rather gross assumption...

I am using CS4. Can I open CS6 files? I am receiving "plug-ins not available on your system" messages and I'd like to open anyway but clicking on OK doesn't work.

InDesign CS4 can open .indd, .indt  and .inx files from earlier versions, but not from later. It should, however, be able to open .idml files saved or exported from newer versions, with the understanding that unsupported features will be lost, text will probably reflow due to differences in texts engines between versions, and that the greater the gap between versions the more likely there are to be noticeable differences from the original. You will need to be sure CS4 is at version 7.0.6 to read the .idml.

    Cs2
    create new

If your using File>Place then photoshop cs2 creates what's known as Smart Objects, which photoshop 7 didn't have.
In photoshop cs2 you can rasterize the smart objects and that should make the Cut function available.
Select both placed layers, right click on the area to the right of the tumbnail and select Rasterize Layers.
If in photoshop cs2 you to Help>Photoshop Help and look under Layers>Smart Objects, that should give you a good overview of what smart objects are.

  • Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.

  • I have gone to Control Panel to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and clicked REMOVE Mozilla Firefox 3.6.13 but the program will not remove.

The Mozilla Firefox 3.6.13 version is refusing to be removed from my laptop even after l have opened the CONTROL PANEL and clicked on ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and then clicked on REMOVE the hightlighted firefox program.
I have just installed the Mozilla Firefox 4.0 and when l try to uninstall or remove this one the same way as l do for Firefox 3.6.13, l have no problem with removing Firefox 4.0.

The following link shows how to manually remove Firefox if the uninstaller fails - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox
Are you sure you still have Firefox 3.6, by default Firefox 4 will replace previous versions of Firefox. Some time the add/remove programs option in the control panel will list programs that no longer exist.

  • Have Windows XP, tried 4.0 beta but want to revert back to 3.6 so downloaded 3.6, now can't uninstall 4.0 as it is not listed in add/remove programs?

Only 3.6 is now listed in add/remove programs, so how do I uninstall 4.0?

There are several video download applications that work on Firefox 4, for example:
    * Video DownloadHelper - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper
    * Easy YouTube Video Downloader - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-downl-10137
    * Flash Video Downloader (Youtube Downloader) - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/flash-video-downloader-youtube
Are there any other add-ons that you particularly want in Firefox 4? There may be updates to them or alternatives.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6.* you can uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install Firefox 3.6.* available from http://www.mozilla.com - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I want to uninstall but it does not appear in Add/Remove Programs

I use Firefox 2.0.0.12. When I accessed today I was aked to install an update, now the thing won't even start up. Message is "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. " I have been on your help site and am told to uninstall it, but it does not appear in Add/Remove Programs list. How can I uninstall it?

I found an uninstall file in the Mozilla firefox program files and successfully uninstalled the old version of firefox. I have now installed v3.6.13 and all seems OK. Does anyone anticipate any other problems?

  • How to uninstall Firefox if Add/Remove programs won't work?

My Firefox is completely unresponsive. I can't get a browser or anything. I just grabbed the application folder and threw it in the trash, because the add/remove program function did nothing. I also cannot download the newest version of Firefox. It tries, but then says, "Your download was interrupted".
How can I make sure I've removed ALL of the old Firefox and what can I do to download the new one?

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • How do I uninstall firefox when I cannot find it in 'add/remove program'

I am trying to uninstall firefox from my window 7 notebook but I cannot find it under 'add/remove program' in control panel. I have come across suggestion to delete the Mozilla firefox folder from program x86 but I worry that this method may create problem by leaving orphans in the registry.

    The uninstall instructions are here
    * [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer]]
You appear not to be posting from Firefox and so I wonder have you already uninstalled it ?
Uninstalling, gives you an option to leave behind personal information. If you will never use Firefox again you may not need that and the Firefox profile may be deleted. Possibly the profile folder is what you are seeing. Note the profile contains your Firefox bookmarks and normally if uninstalling Firefox you may wish to first of all export those as HTML that may be used elsewhere as bookmarks / favourites.

    * [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
