Firefox is not going online while my other browsers are

for the past 4 days, when i click on the firefox icon it automatically installs an update that i cannot stop. then the window opens and it does not go online, while my other browsers are.

Do you have "Work Offline" checkmarked in the File menu? If so, click it to remove the checkmark.
If not, please do the following.
Click '''Help''', then '''Restart With Add-ons disabled'''.
Next, click the button called "'''Continue without making changes'''". Firefox will subsequently restart in Safe Mode which means all your add-ons will be disabled.

Firefox will not load any web pages. I recently ran a registry cleaner/virus scan on my computer and now Firefox 5 will not load ''any''webpages. It displays a "Problems Loading Page" error message. Other browsers still work. I tried uninstalling and re-installing firefox, even restoring to a previous restore point, but nothing seems to work. How can I fix this?

When I change albums on my Porta website Firefox does not refresh the site although other browsers do.

I have a Porta website using 'simple viewer' and when I update the albums it usually is fine, but today I changed the content in 2 albums and although they are updated on other browsers, the changes are not showing in my Firefox. I have deleted history etc. in case that was causing a delay in the browser refreshing, but it has made no difference. Does anyone have any ideas please?

I've added several named destinations to a PDF. Links to the named destinations within the PDF are working correctly in IE8, Safari and Chrome, but not Firefox 3.6.3. (PC/Windows 7)
With Firefox all the links to named destinations take you to the first page of the PDF instead of to the named destination within the PDF. I've tried changing the format of the links (a href="http://www.anysite.com/mypdf.pdf#location1") instead of (a href="http://www.anysite.com/mypdf.pdf#nameddest=location1"). No success with Firefox. Other browsers are fine.
I'd be interested if anyone else has had a similar issue and whether there are any successful workarounds/solutions.

The PDF contaning the named destinations was created with Acrobat 9.3.2 Professional.
Since the links to the named destinations are working fine with IE, Chrome and Safari, I'd tend to think this is a Firefox issue, but welcome other ideas.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

Do you see any prefs related to that knoxnews.com site on the about:config page if you enter that URL in the Filter?

I uninstalled all the old flash players and installed the flash player v16.0.0.235 from the Adobe website posted.
And Firefox is still the same. It takes forever to web search, It takes a long time to get on Youtube, and a longer time now to open a video..
It's actual worse since I upgraded to the newer flash player.
I'll do one more fifefox reset (this is the 8th one in a week)
and it works for a few hrs, and goes back to the slowww way of working...
Many of my friends I talked to about this, told me to switch over to Chrome like they had to do..
I guess that's the only alternative now..

I did everything you suggested and it seemed to be a repeat of everything I did yesterday. Going through "Macintosh HD" just got me to the same place I was in yesterday, going through Finder to 'Judy' to 'Library' to 'iPhoto Library'. There just isn't anything there that looks like what you describe: 'Permissions' or 'Rights & Priveges'. From everything I see when I monkey around in my 'User' folder, there are no restrictions on anything.
BDAqua is indicating one of the standard paths/locations for the iPhoto Library:
Macintosh HD -> Users -> Judy -> Pictures -> iPhoto Library
At least that's where mine was on Snow Leopard and is on Lion. The location you've indicated, isn't standard:
Macintosh HD -> Judy -> Library -> iPhoto Library
When you get to "iPhoto Library",
- select/hightlight it
- Then click cmd-I (or under the "File" menu, select "Get Info")
- At the very bottom of the "Info" window you should "Sharing and Permissions" -- that's what BDAqua is asking about.

Firefox is showing a grey globe for secure site when other browsers are showing a lock icon.

We have several sites that have SSL Certificates. When the website switches to HTTPS, Firefox still shows our pages with a grey globe. Sites (like Amazon) are showing they are secure displaying HTTPS pages. Other browsers are displaying our pages secure like they should.

Firefox5 is not showing BBC iPlayer Video & Radio Other browsers are all fine(Safari,IE,Chrome) The iPlayer webpage is all there but the flash video player is black. The OS is XPpro.

Also, when the flash video does not show up it displays the error that I do not have the current flash player. The problem is that I do have the current flash player that actually plays flash from another section of the website.
