Firefox is not loading specific websites for me. Sites like Facebook, Ebay, Google, and Netflix refuse to open, or even acknowledge me pressing the Enter key

Firefox is not loading specific websites for me. Sites like Facebook, Ebay, Google, and Netflix refuse to open, or even acknowledge me pressing the Enter key when I type in the address or click a link to that site. Practically every other site works perfectly fine. I did not change any settings or download any new addons prior to this problem, it just started happening. I have done everything I can find in the forums; resetting firefox, clearing cache and cookies, making network settings use no proxy, reinstalling, and today I uninstalled Firefox, updated and scanned my computer with all 3 software I use (AVG, Malwarebytes, and Spybot), found no issues, restarted my computer, and reinstalled a freshly downloaded Firefox setup without importing any settings or doing anything other than a totally clean install, and still nothing. Chrome and IE still are able to access every site perfectly fine. I have no idea what the issue is or how to fix it, as I've tried everything I know and could research.

Hi There,
Sorry to hear of your issue. I found a great article for you to read and explain how to fix your issue. I hope this hope :)

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.
Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Firefox will not load any websites at all

I have been using Firefox for more than awhile, as IE 10 would not work for me, but a few days ago Firefox stopped working all together. I will click Firefox and all that happens is it loads a New Tab, and it has a blank page with no web address. If i type in a web address, it 'loads' for a split second and still is a blank page. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and did not work. I have also reset Firefox, and nothing happens except i get a pointless toolbar back. I do not have Chrome, but IE is working fine for me as i have downgraded to IE 9. I do prefer Firefox though, as it is a bit faster and more simply organized. Is there anything else i can try to fix this problem?

  • Firefox does not load random websites. Using a 3.6 or later version, with an XP OS.

My Dad's laptop is using XP OS.
He's been using Firefox quite a bit, until recently (about a month ago or more) when we go to any random website, it does not load. All it shows is a blank page and at the bottom bar it says "Done".
But after refreshing it multiple times (and I mean A LOT of times) it either loads it or does not.

  • Firefox will not load ANY websites

When I open Firefox and IE, neither one will load ANY website entered into address bar. However Google Chrome will. So I know that the Internet Connection is fine. Not sure what else to do.

If you aren't able to connect in Firefox, but can connect with other programs, the most common cause is a firewall. See [[Firewalls]] for instructions on configuring firewalls. (Make sure you configure all firewalls that are installed)
Another possibility is that you are in offline mode. Make sure "Work offline" in the File menu is ''unchecked''.
For other causes, see [[Error loading web sites]]

  • Since March 5th Firefox will not load pages except for Homepage.

Firefox just says "connecting" on the tab and after thirty minutes the page doesn't load. I have tried restarting my computer a few times, and have uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox. It is not a problem with the connection and does not appear to be a problem with my security. I've been using Firefox for over a year on this computer, then suddenly this. What do I do?

Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
    Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
    Check the settings.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

  • Firefox will not load certain websites but IE will

After upgrading to FF 29 I cannot access the addons and several other pages.
Going to addons.mozilla.org or clicking the addons button gives me a bulleted list of links.
Attempting to download an addon just says "Error Downloading"
I can go to addons.mozilla.org in IE and download and install them manually with no issues.
I have cleared the cache and cookies several times and reset the proxy to none.
I looked at about:config and there was no line for xpinstall.enabled so I added it as a boolean.
I ran malwarebytes and it found nothing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Firefox will not load any website, it says unable to connect, how can I fix this?

Every url I type in it comes up with unable to connect and firefox cant establish a connection! its like it's not even got a connection but i can get on the internet at the same time with internet explorer! I have tried disabling the IPv6 and Prefetch and still unable to connect! i have changed the proxy to no proxy and still unable to connect.

  • Firefox will not load any websites, continues to say "Problem Loading Page". However I have a full internet connection and Internet Explorer works.

  • Firefox will not load any website, it just tries until it times out, is there a security setting either inside or outside of Firefox that might be causing this to happen?

Firefox was operating normally until I ran a virus scan. I have tried everything I can think of. The computer is connected to the internet because other applications are working and even updated from Microsoft are downloading. I am running XP. Everything else seems to be working as it should.

I've cleared cache, I do not use a proxy.. The problem occurs both running Firefox normally AND in safe-mode.. As I said earlier in this thread, this laptop is used almost exclusively at starbucks/mcdonalds hotspots.. One thing I've noticed is that when I'm at a starbucks which has google wifi vs the old attwifi, I often do not get any "splashpage", and am immediately connected to the internet, in which case FF comes up perfectly normally, and I don't have to use Chrome to "check the box"... Its pretty darned annoying.. Since this occurs in safe-mode, where, as I understand it, there are NO addins loaded, this has got to be FF itself demanding access to the internet prior to it fully starting.. As I also said earlier, when I start FF just after booting the system, I see FF as a zombie process when I do a "ps -xua" (this is Debian/testing/64bit). Once I have internet access, apparently that zombie process becomes non-zombie (is that even possible??)

  • Firefox will not load radio buttons on certain sites and I can't show my choice of items without the ability.

I have gone to bill pay and ordering sites and have found, what we used to call, radio buttons to mark a choice are not loading. For those that have no idea what I am talking about, Survey sites, bill pay sites and shopping sites use a round button that when clicked on, it shows your choice. These are not loading in the new Firefox and I have had to revert much of my work to Internet Explorer now. Up to this point, I have been impressed with Firefox. Can you restore the confidence and smile on my face?

Can you post a link to sites where the radio buttons aren't working?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox suddenly crashing at specific websites (eg, media sites)

On May 23, 2012, Firefox suddenly began crashing whenever I would click on any link at various websites -- especially the Globe & Mail (www.theglobeandmail.com/), but also some Firefox Help pages, the Java.com download page, etc, etc. I've subsequently done all of the following but the problem persists:
    # did a spyware scan using an up-to-date Spybot Search & Destroy <br/>-- it found no items at all.
    # Updated and installed Firefox 12
    # Opened FF12 in Safe Mode
    # Manually disabled all Plug-ins
    # Downloaded and installed the newest Java, and removed the previous version of Java from my system
    # did an online virus scan with Bit Defender:
    ## at first, it said that my system has a Trojan "Heure something something. . . "
##. Bit Defender offered a trial version of its anti-virus software, but, my browser crashed right after this
    ## -- I had to re-run the online scan again, and - this time - it said that it found NO viruses or trojans on my system!
Edit formatted with numbered paragraphs j99

Those two crash report are from Firefox 10.0.2.
Did you install or start an old Firefox 10.0.2 version because you previously posted with Firefox 12?
