Firefox is not remembering my user name for loging into gmail.

Part of the problem is I already have one gmail account/ user name and have recently added another user name. However I have other websites where firefox remembers more than one user name. I am running on windows XP.

FFox 3;6;13 sux.
It dropped the memory of my favourite forums Username and PWord today.
Redid it all,and now it only remembers my PWord, and not Username.IE is OK.I hate IE so fix this please. It is a PIA,and DLing the old version after all the Flashplayer crap will OD my DL allowance.
In the saved PWords area of FFox,this forum is the only entry without a Username listed.
And why does Mozilla have to go for faster browsers, bells and whistles etc, when the security is still so lame?
I have had several attacks from an AV8 like scam.I use Avast and Mwarebytes.
Unstable FFox,yet again.Time to send it to the recycle bin with its fat cousin AVG Free.
Sad,but Chrome is looking real good now.
Am also getting stupid window asking if I want to Save or Open a PHP file when I click on Open In New Tab on the same forum.
The forum owner says all is OK at the Forum.

  • How come firefox does not remember my user name and password for the verizon wireless website ? or verizon wireless ?

how come when i log onto the verizon wireless web site to pay my bill, i have to sign my user name and password every time ? i am not getting the firefox pop up asking me if i want firefox to save my password for this site. so how do i get firefox to remember my log in information for my verizon wireless website ? thank you.

This would be verizonwireless.com, correct? Their site requests that browsers should not save information for its login form.
If you're comfortable with using bookmarklets, there's one here that should force Firefox to remember:

  • Firefox will not remember multiple user names and passwords for same site, yet it used to do so. Any ideas?

I belong to several publishers website, and I often have to access more than one author's account, which requires that I use their user name (usually an email address) and their password. In the past, whenever I double clicked on the space for user name, I would see all of those user names appear that I use for that site. When I clicked on the one I wanted, the stored password would appear in the password window, and I could log in. Now, it only shows me the most recent user name that I have used. I don't understand how to make it do what it used to do. Any ideas?

Is it possible that that name is stored in a "remember me" cookie ?

  • Firefox does not remembe the login name for the user login name on secure sites.

My user got a new computer and I installed the latest version of firefox. It no longer remembers user names on secure sites and the employee does not like the fact that she has to type in her user name every time she needs to log into the site. The browser is set to automatically save user names and passwords.

Please first update your plugins, Flash has a new version.
Does this happen in Safe Mode?

It is also possible to check the saved passwords to make sure that the information is saved. On an https site that does not autofill the information for logging in , the username is blank. I removed the entry by right cicking on the page, selecting "Page Info" and under "Security" viewing the saved passwords.

  • Do not remember my user name on locked screen

    Hi
Cannot remember my user name on macbook Pro 17" ( first generation) but i remember my password.
It all happened when i shut down my mac  !!
tried my apple ID , didnt work, tried  several mutation of my name ..still no luck
how  can I log in please?
    thanks

Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime (or grey screen), hold down ⌘ and S on your keyboard (two fingers) to enter single-user mode.
Type mount -uw / and press Enter.
Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist and press Enter.
Type ls /Users and press Enter. This lists all of the usernames on the computer. Look for yours and write it down.
    Type reboot and press Enter.
Log in with that user name and the password you recall.

  • Firefox will not save my user name and password for one of my sites. How can I fix this problem. It is getting annoying having to reenter every time I check this site. Is there a solution.

I had my user name and password saved for my library site. My grandson hit something and now the saved user name and password are gone. It asks me every time to enter it and it is getting annoying. How do I fix this. I want Firefox to remember these codes.

You can create a bookmark with the JavaScript code via a right-click on the "Remember Password" link on the squarefree.com website and choose "Bookmark This Link" and select the "Bookmarks Toolbar" as the destination folder for easy access.
    * https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password
You need to use the "Remember Password" bookmarklet before or after filling the name and password field on the website with the <u>login form</u>, but before submitting the login form by clicking a button on the web page.
If the site is using autocomplete="off" then you see a number not equal to 0 (i.e. attributes were removed) in the pop-up alert from the bookmarklet and Firefox should offer to remember the name and password via a drop down dialog of the key icon that will appear on the location bar (Firefox 4+) or via an info bar at the top (Firefox 3).

  • How can I get firefox to remember my user name for accounts that I access frequently?

I always check the box asking do I want firefox to remember my user id so that I do not have to fill it in each time I go online. However, every time I go to these same websites, it never remembers my id. Is there a setting that I am overlooking to prevent this from happening?

    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
    * Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • Firefox 3.6.8 is not remembering my user name and password

This has been happening since I bought my new iMac with snow leopard and downloaded Firefox. This does not happen with Safari. I have checked the forums and mozzilazine and google to no avail.

    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * You must allow that cookie (Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions), especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Try to clear the cookies from sites that cause problems.<br />
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.<br />
You can rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • When I click "remember my user name" for web pages, it does not work for web pages - I have to login after every restart (eg Hotmail)

On websites I visit daily – newspapers, Hotmail, etc, even though I have clicked "remember me on this computer", it does not work. I have to log in every time I have restarted my computer (Mac OSX 10.5.8). Also, this may be related. I have iGoogle as my home page, but "themes", location, widgets, etc are not saved when I shut down.

  • Firefox will not remember to use Reader for PDF downloads

When using Gmail, I have an email with PDF attachments. For each PDF attachment, there are 3 options: Use the built-in reader, download, or copy to Google Drive. When I select download, the popup says "You have chosen to open:..." and then offers two selections: "Open with" and "Save File". Previously, the "Open with" option would remember that I wanted to use Reader with PDF file. It will no longer does that. I have to browse and find Reader each time, even though I've clicked "Do this automatically". Each time I do browse to Reader, it will use it. It simply won't remember to use Reader the next time. Under Options-Application, it does say that for PDF files, it should "Use Adobe Reader". I have reinstalled Firefox, along with making sure the profile folders in my application data were deleted, so this is a clean version.

Oh boy....turns out it is OK, it's just not obvious.
Even though the download pop-up lists no application next to "Open with" (which I'm pretty sure it used to), it WILL use Reader when I click the OK button.
Another odd thing: When the popup window is not active, as if when I'm using the Snipping Tool to get a snapshot, the OK button is grayed out (that sure doesn't help when trying to get help from you guys), but when it is active, it is not grayed out and is the default button.

  • Firefox does not remember our usernames for hotmail anymore

Since our update to Firefox 4.0, Firefox does not remember our usernames for Hotmail anymore. Only the last used username is remembered.
We don't have problems with other websites regarding this.
So why is it only with Hotmail?
I cleared all cookies, but no change....
    Can you help us out?

You can't save the name and password from Hotmail via the Password Manager in current Firefox versions. Hotmail (live.com) uses JavaScript to create the login form.<br />
You should be able to use save form data to save user names and other form data like I posted above.
Don't you get a drop down list that shows previously entered names?
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
