Firefox is not responding after clicking on symbol, Cannot delete firefox because it tells me that it is still open! Windows 7 64 bit

Firefox is not responding at all. Would like to delete it and reinstall, however when trying to uninstall a message appears that I first have to close firefox! In short: cannot delete firefox, cannot reinstall, cannot use it. Operating system Windows 7, 64 bit, Sony VAIO Laptop PCG 81213M. Firefox has been working fine before. IE is working fine.

This may help if you have had the same problem as me on occasions.
Right click on a blank area of the Task-Bar. Select "Start task manager" from the menu that appears. Along the top of the "Task manager window" select the "Processes" tab. You will see a list of running processes. Scroll down the list until you see Firefox. Highlight it and click on the "end process" button at the bottom right. Click "end process" on the warning popup that appears. Firefox should disappear from the list. Now you should be able to start it or uninstall. If Firefox doesnt appear in the list at all then this fix is not for you. Hope this helps.

  • Firefox will not respond after loading it onto my Windows 7 computer

I downloaded Firefox browser to my new Windows 7 computer and installed the program. I used Firefox for a while without any problem for a while and logged off of the internet and shut my computer down. The next morning, I turned on my computer, and clicked on my Firefox icon. I got a blank screen with the little aqua circle working. Then a message appeared in the upper left hand corner of my computer display, which read "Mozilla Firefox Not Responding". I closed the program. ''' By the Way, I installed Google Chrome web browser and am currently using it it without any problem. I would prefer to use Firefox though.'''

Does Firefox starts up when you first open it after rebooting the computer but hangs the next time you try to start it? If so, then there's a [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1005487 bug] in Firefox 29 where Firefox hangs on exit when the setting "Clear history when Firefox closes" is selected, so that you get an "already running but not responding" error the next time you ttry to start it. In that case, end the firefox.exe process in the Windows Task Manager (or reboot the computer) then reset your Firefox Privacy options and UNCHECK the option "Clear history when Firefox closes". See this article for details:
[[Settings for privacy, browsing history and do-not-track]]
If that's not the problem and Firefox still not open even after rebooting the computer then try starting in Firefox Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox. If Firefox starts then see the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to narrow down the cause.

  • Firefox will not respond after restarting my computer after making changes in the cookies and history settings

I make some changes with cookies and cleared my history for today...and then restarted my computer...now firefox will not open...will not respond...should I uninstall firefox and then reinstall it?
If I uninstall firefox will the changes I made with the cookies and my history be reversed?
If I were to uninstall and then reinstall firefox will I loose my bookmarks if I do this? or does firefox remember them...so when I reinstall the previous bookmarks are reinstalled too?

  • Firefox keeps not responding after re-install

I just got this computer last Tuesday, and I immediately installed Firefox. It worked perfectly, as it should, with no problems or crashes whatsoever. But, I ended up installing an extension I don't normally use because I wanted to check out how the features worked, and it messed up Firefox a bit... the new tab button was all the way on the right, tiny and kind of broken from the rest of the tab bar. It also installed a "search tabs" thing on the left that, even after uninstalling the add-on, remained there, which was very annoying and also broken/not level with the tab bar.
This caused me to uninstall and reinstall Firefox so it would look like it's supposed to. But after reinstalling it, every so often Firefox freezes and says not responding for a couple of seconds. Sometimes it happens every hour, every 20 minutes, or even goes a whole day without it happening. But, it still happens. And also, when I went to update the Adobe Reader web plugin, Firefox froze to the point where I couldn't do anything... the "not responding" thing didn't occur, but it's like when I tried clicking on a tab my computer would ding and not do anything. I don't know what caused this but I know sometimes it happens when it wants you to confirm something or accept security access or something, but there was absolutely no reason to do this.
How come Firefox worked perfectly the day I got it, but after reinstalling it the next day because of an error on my part, it acts as if this is the crappiest computer in the world that freezes because of overload?

  • Repeatedly firefox will not start after clicking on it in the start menu. I have to download firefox again which takes hours. How can I fix this?

After the PC boots up I click on the firefox icon in the start menu, the hour glass appears but then goes out and nothing happens. I have to re install firefox using safari (which opens) and took 4 hours.

Hello kkhelp, can you open firefox in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode#os=winxp&browser=fx24 safe mode] by holding down the shift key while starting Firefox. ? (DON'T Reset firefox, select Start in Safe Mode).
    thank you

  • Firefox will not start after an update, I cannot log in to Firefox in any manner.

Firefox does not work any more and every time I attempt to access it (even in Safe Mode) it displays the following message:
    Firefox.exe- Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point JS_GetOperationLimit could not be located in the dynamic link library js3250.dll.
I have absolutely no way of getting into Firefox to undo whatever has gone wrong, is it still possible to solve this without having to completely purge and reinstall Firefox?

Thanks kenton. But now pop-up says beta 5.
The ''real issue'' is what is going on. On one machine the update process works, but on my other machine it does not.
The machines are identical IBM T60s with Windows XP.
This is a real mystery, as well as being annoying.
A clue or suggestion any one?

  • When I click to enlarge an image in eBay, Firefox does not respond.

I open up Firefox and go to the eBay website. I click on an item to view the listing. I then click on the image, or the 'Enlarge' icon to view a larger version of the image. The problem is that Firefox does not respond. It comes up with "javascript;" in the little dialogue box that pops up in the bottom left corner.
When I use Internet Explorer, I don't have the problem. Could anyone suggest what is wrong?

Same PDFs opened in Chrome have different mini tool bar and do respond to clicking on buttons. SAVE AS is provided with right click and does save document as PDF.
    Toshiba Satellite A100:

These same PDF documents respond to all toolbar buttons Including SAVE with Adobe X in this PC  in all browsers.
Any suggestions. other than use Chrome all the time?

    Hi,
The problem with ie9 or ie8 gets more complicated, since the alt key works on some files, one example is:
    http://www.instrulog.dk/download/manualer/humanware/focus-14-manual
The files where it does not work are placed on sites that require sign in with a digital signature, so it is impossible to give urls to  the files.
With screen readers and with pdf files in the browser, the normal way of getting to the
address bar does not work, but that is not really a problem but a minor irritation, and not a new behavior.

  • Firefox Not Responding after Installing Microsoft Office 10

After installing Microsoft Office 10 (student and home edition) on my laptop, I noticed that Firefox is going into the state 'Not Responding' every time I access it - it takes about 10 secs to 'think' and then comes back online. It continues to do this every time I want to access a new page, new link, click on mail in Yahoo Mail, etc. Has anyone experienced this issue?

    1) Check the $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/JServ/etc/logs/jvm
has servral logs for OACoreGroup Servlets that are initialied
    2) You might have to enable the debug option in jserv.properties and jserv.conf
(find IsItWorking.java in Metalink for the appropriate note )
    3) If this is 403 forbidden then check trusted.conf alongside httpd.conf
pls keep posted about how this issue got resolved.

i have finished installing Oracle applications
11.5.10.2 on IBM clusters (HACMP version 5.1)its a
multinode setup with mutual failover. other
applications are working fine. the installation went
well. but the final part on the middle tier , during
the post install checks it says JSP not responding. I
checked the apache error-log and saw the follwoing
    entry
    [Sun Apr 23 21:04:21 2006] [error] [client

    >
that bafles me because that ip address was not used
in the installation. its the persistent ip address of
the HACMP. the service ip that was used in the
    configuration file was 172.29.200.75
however there is no mention of this in the error
log.i also edited the oprocmgr.conf in the
Apache/conf directory after which i dont get the
error however the servlets pages then hangs and
returns page cannot be displayed error on internet
explorer. no error is registered on the error log.
the jdk am using is 1.4.2 which is the recommended

what this means is that i cannot access the self

pages to access the application in 11.5.10.2
i opened a TAR with oracle on 8th April 2006 and till

  • For no reason, "Firefox is not responding", get blue spinning wheel, screen freezes, fades out- Comes back after a little bit.

When in Firefox, for no apparent reason the screen freezes and a blue spinning wheel appears. I have to wait while it says that Firefox is not responding. Then the blue wheel disappears and the screen is back. This has also happen, even when not attempting to do anything such as scroll down or click on anything.

  • Firefox become not responsive after every 10 minutes for few seconds, and it back again.

Firefox 4 become not responding after every few minutes ( mainly 10 minutes). And it came back to its normal state within 10-15 seconds. I reinstall windows and Firefox, but same problem occur. On using chrome 11 and IE 9 I have no problem. I also check that there is no problem on using Firefox 3.
I mainly use Firefox for my web browsing, but due to Firefox 4 I totally disappointed. What should I do for now?

You have an add-on installed called Internet Download Manager. It's on Mozilla's Add-on Blocklist @ https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/blocklist/ at the foot of the page.
Uninstall it by clicking the orange Firefox button, go to Add-ons and then remove it in the Extensions menu.
If the problem persists, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your other add-ons is the culprit.

  • Bloody Hell, I install Firefox 4 beta 11 and nothing happens home page loads, and thats it, firefox does not respond

I run 3.6.13 I tried to install beta 4. 11, it downloads and installs, it opens the home page, but that's it, the throb er works but Firefox does not respond, i mean like in nothing, it is dead, you click anywhere on the toolbar, and it is like a dead dog.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Firefox will not start after I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 10.04.

I was using Firefox without issue on Ubuntu 8.04. I then upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04. Firefox would not start after upgrade. Message said it was already running!
I checked the System Monitor and saw it was "sleeping". I ended process. Firefox then would start, however..... I always have to go into System Monitor before I start Firefox to stop it from running (sleeping) even if I already just quit the program or after a fresh reboot.
I do not use a firewall or virus program.
My router has some sort of firewall hardware, and it is the same router I used with 8.04 with no problem.
What is going on? Why is the program sleeping when I try to start it. Why do I always get the message that it is already running (and I have to shut it down) before I can start it.
It is either a Ubuntu problem or a Firefox problem.
    Sonny.
