Firefox is often jerky and slow to respond

the most important results of this are a failure to scroll and that the "find in page" function will not recognise some of the letters typed into it. I will type "hello" and "hll" will appear in the find bar

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Why is my new iPad mini with retina very, very jerky and slow?

    Hi,
Does anyone know what I can do about my new iPad being very, very jerky and slow?
FACT - The multitouch screen is unresponsive and I have to press and press and press to select what I want before it reacts.
It's an iPad mini with retina, so it's got the new chipset which runs really, really fast.
    FACT - What happens is:
I start up pages and it freezes completely for quite a while before allowing me access to my documents.
I go to settings and it freezes up totally for quite a while before allowing me access to my settings.
Is there a cure? I get similar problems on my acompanying really, really fast iPhone 5s.
    PS
Plenty of memory left so no problems there - only about half used and they're both 32gb.
...and my beloved iPad2 never used to do this either.

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up
    http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Firefox has becomes unresponsive and slow after I tried to install addons (not installed)?

I recently format my computer and reinstall the windows 7, since this was the only solution that I know to fix the problem with Firefox (I previously had this problem too). I download the latest version of firefox 33.0.2 and install it . This version was super fast. But becomes unresponsive and slow, when I tried to install the add-ons. I visited the official website of firefox and search for the addons, when I tried to install some addons, Firefox crashed. From then on, it has becomes quite slow and can't restore previous sessions. Even to type my email address, It takes more than 5 minutes and becomes unresponsive frequently (after I typed each letter).
I want to know whether this is due to some viruses, or this version of firefox is not "stable"

  • HP officejet pro 8100 not printing documents when asked, and slow to respond.

My Officejet Pro 8100 has allways been used wireless. It allways had a lag when asked to print and producing the document. Often the unable to connect to printer message comes up, then shortly latter it started to print.
We have now switched to Vergin Media ISP. The printere was set up to the new network as before no problem. The router is lacated downstairs by by our TV where the cable enters the house. Our 2 pc's are now wireless due to this (one windows XP and one Windows 7). Then there's Ipads etc.
Conectivity is not a problem the pcs are located in our study with the printer upstairs. My Ipad works in the Garden so theres plenty of range. All devices are on the same conection.
The problem with slow printing is now worse. Ask to print and often nothing happens. Switch printer off/on and it may print the last comand of not. It may accept the next command to print or not. Indescrimnently it may print 'misssed prints' at any time.
Basically it cannot be relied on to print when asked to, really frustrating!! The printers wireless indicator is lit its conected to the network. Any ideas as this is a real pain. Remote printing from a phone is a no go as it probably wont happen.
We need to print and it happen.

    Hello @Ants9,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the slow printing issue that you're experiencing with your networked HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter from your Windows computers and other devices. I understand that this issue began with your original router and now is occuring with your new network. I am going to run you through some troubleshooting steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Run Print and Scan Doctor:
To verify that your printer is properly detected on your Windows XP and Windows 7 computers I would like you to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computers and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any driver, connection, or software conflict be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you.
Please click here to download the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Please download this Tool on your Windows XP and Windows 7 computers.
Once the Tool has completed, please test printing again. Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 2: Powercycle Network:
First, unplug the power cable to your Router
Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
    Next, shut down your computer
After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
    Next, turn on your printer
    Turn on the computer
After a few minutes the internet connection will return. Please check on your Windows computers and ensure that you're able to browse to websites before continuing. Once the network is up and running again please test printing to check the printing speeds.
Should the issue persist, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 3: Update Firmware:
There is chance that corrupted programming in your printer could be causing the slow printing issue. Therefore, I am going to have you update the Firmware Version on your printer.
Please click here to download the latest programming on your printer. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Follow any onscreen instructions to send the Firmware Update to the printer. This update can be run from either the Windows XP or Windows 7 computers.
Please test printing again to verify if everything is now working as it should be.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Streaming flash on internet is jerky and slow

Hi, I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 with a processor speed of 400 MHz and 1.25 GB of RAM. The problem is that whenever I go to a flash streaming site like youtube or dailymotion, the flash is extremely jerky/slow showing only like 2 frames per 30 seconds. Its horrible. I've done some research on Google about this problem seeing that others have (had) similar issues; but no solutions. If I play video that I've downloaded in wma or avi, it'll play flawlessly. Whenever I play youtube videos or flash swf videos online, it'll lag, even making the whole computer stagger and freeze up. Is there any fix to this?

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 with a processor speed of 400 MHz
That's why. The latest Flash, especially on YouTube, is much more resource intensive. My G3 400, just like yours, can't keep up with it at all. You have enough RAM; RAM has nothing to do with it. The only solution is a faster computer.
What you might try, but this depends on wanting to go to the trouble, is to download the videos using Perian with Safari, or Better YouTube with Firefox and play them through QuickTime. Downloading, depending on the size of the files, can take a few minutes. If these are videos you just want to have a quick look at, it's probably not worth it. But, if you are interested, I can give you instructions.

  • HD is jerky and slow

    Hello fellow Adobe users,
I am having some issues with prel 8. When I try to edit an HD video taken from my Nikon D3100 the playback is slow and jerky, basically uneditable. I've made sure that the presets are for HD editing when I begin a new project and I've tried video conversion software, but I lose the quality which I so dearly want. Please help me!
I work on a Windows 7 computer with 4GB RAM and an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU processor @ 2.50 GHz, if that is of any help to anyone.
    Thanks in advance, Lucy

    Lucy,
    Welcome to the forum.
IIRC, that Nikon uses the MJPEG CODEC. This ARTICLE will give you a bit more background.
I use the tips in this ARTICLE for setting up my computer for an editing session. For Win7, be sure to see the Win7 Tune Up Tips, on Black Viper's Web site.
Can you also tell us about your I/O sub-system, i.e. your HDD's? This ARTICLE will give you some background. When working in HD (excepot for AVCHD & H.264, which are heavily CPU intensive), the I/O is the most important aspect for ease of editing.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Suddenly All Video Content Jerky and Slow

For unknown reasons, all videos I play on my iBook- from youtube to Letterman monologues or news clips - no longer play smoothly, but are either severely time delayed and jerky (though audio of videos is still smooth), or arrive as stills which change every few seconds as the video progresses.
Any idea what app, cache or preference I should dump, or what else I can do to fix this?
    Thanks, PP

How long has it been doing this?
Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

  • AirPlay Mirror is all jerky and slow ?

    Hi,
I have an iPad 2 and Apple TV 2 both running iOS 5. My AirPlay mirror is slow and jerky. Even the sound.
My router is wireless n. Thompson Telstra router in Australia. (My Internet and YouTube is perfect on my iPad and TV, so not the router.)
    Why is this happening ?
    How do I fix this?
    Kind regards
    Sean

I am having the same problem. I called tach support and after 45 minutes I gave up. They sent me to Apple TV support and I did EVERYTIHNG support suggested, then I was transferred to iPad2 support (during the hold for iPad2 I gave up).
The main reason I purchased the Apple TV was for this Airplay Mirroring (I already had Google TV).
I can get the mirroring to show up, but it is extreamly slow or not responsive and crashes after a few minutes. Airplay without mirroring works. Apple TV streams Netflix fine. I am using a brand new Belkin N router that is setup properly and I have the latest update on both Apple devices.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Joe

  • Jerky and slow MBP Mid-2010

My macbook pro 13" has recently started becoming jerky/stuttery after watching about 1-2 minute of any sort of online video (youtube mainly but also tv shows etc).
Its only started about a week ago and the mouse becomes slow and jerky, the screen changes slowly after clicking and the sound and video starts to stutter
Anyone else experiencing this problem? or know of a way to fix it (I've tried turning it off and on again)
I've tested on Safari and Google Chrome and i get the same error.
    Cheers!

  • When playing Free Cell, movements are very 'jerky' and slow---?

this is on several websites, and has just started recently.
    should i reboot?

    Chip19474,
There could be a couple things done to correct this. We are going to try a couple resolutions. If they were recorded with the errors, would need to test with new recordings. The first and easiest fix is to unplug the power cord from the DVR box for 30 seconds then plug back in. Record a new show and check playback quality. If that does not fix it, please send me a private message so we can move further.

  • IPad jerky and slow when changing applications

I tried the solution of double clicking home button, and closing recent applications, and then holding home button and off switch simultaneously,  It fixes it until I open and close another application.

Are you using multitasking gestures? Swiping from one app to another, swiping up from the bottom to get to the task bar, pinching to return to the home screen? If you are using those - try shutting it off in your settings and see if that makes any difference.
Settings>General>Multitasking Gestures>Off. My iPad original version seems to have a little less lag if I don't use those gestures. Frankly, I couldn't wait until Apple released the feature for the original iPad - and now I personally feel that it was much ado about nothing - for me anyway.

  • Jerky and slow YouTube

With desktop clear and very little open in the way of programs, the playing of movies on YouTube consists of a series of still images with about a second of time between them. The iMac G5 I have connected to the same internet has no problem with it.
I don't know if there is a program used for showing these videos - I suspect there is, and that I need to update it....???
    Thanks in anticipation,
    John
