Firefox is running, but no windows/tabs are showing - what gives?

Firefox12, iMac i5, Snow Leopard 10.6.8, 16GB RAM, 2TB drive.
Firefox worked fine this morning. This afternoon, when it fires up, no windows/tabs show up ... just the menu.
I know that the windows are working - a video link that I clicked on in my Mail begins playing. I can hear it. Just can't see anything.
I've tried opening a new window - nothing happens. I've tried restarting after turning off all Add-ins. Same result.
Tried opening the FF prefs but nothing shows up. All I can see is the FF menu - nothing else shows up.
I've tried the History menu - to restore all tabs etc etc ... no difference. I can only see the menu.
This is so weird and I have no idea what to do.
Any suggestions/ideas??

That is weird. Do you maybe have a window minimized to the dock or in another space? Have you tried restarting the whole computer?

Firefox crashed while I was away from my
computer (Windows XP, FF 7.0.1). Re-starting

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

After updating to Firefox 11.0 Mac, Firefox runs, but no window can be seen

I'm running OSX 10.5.2 I just upgraded to Firefox 11.0. Firefox runs, but no windows can be seen.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Tabs are showing in other opened windows not associated with the current window.

When I open more than one window the window tabs are displayed as a shadow. How do I correct this? thank you

You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.

Versions prior to version 3.6.4, install and run normally, but the subsequent install but do not work in Task Manager, it appears as if it had opened, but the desktop is as if it were closed and does not respond. I installed Firefox 3.6.10 on a new computer (win 7 home premium), deleted the profile given and copied my old profile in its place (win vista premium). I get the above message and am told to close the existing process, or restart the system. Can't close and restarting doesn't help. Please solve this for me, i so don't want to use Internet Explorer

g'day people... a dude called "moopenguin32" showed me the way... alleluia
1. Copy your Firefox shortcut (what you click on to open Firefox) to the Desktop.
2. Right-click on it and click on Properties.
3. Go to the end of the text in the "Target" field. The end will say: firefox.exe"
4. Enter a space followed by: -profilemanager
5. The end result will look something like this: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -profilemanager
6. Click OK to save the settings.
7. Double-click on the shortcut you just changed.
8. Delete the profile listed. It shouldn't matter that you're deleting it because you're trying to restore a profile anyways. You should have the profile you're trying to restore saved elsewhere.
9. Close the profile manager.
10. Start Firefox using your regular shortcut. Firefox should open properly. Close Firefox.
11. Now to restore your profile, open the profile folder you have backed up and copy the contents of it rather than the actual folder.
12. Go to your existing Firefox profile and open it.
13. Delete the contents of the existing Firefox profile.
14. Paste the contents of the Firefox profile that you're trying to restore (the one you copied in step 11).
15. Open Firefox and everything should be there (including your extensions).

My window tab is showing a different domain how to edit window title

when I type http://clear-tinnitus.org my window tab is showing videogamesplus.org which is another of my sites.I cloned my video site and copied it to my tinnitus site but I don't know how to edit the windows tab to reflect the tinnitus site.It is showing the cloned site instead.
I was given these instructions but not clear how to do it:
Click on the "Properties" tab in the sidebar on the right.
2) In the box marked "Window Title" type in your desired name
3) Update your site

I've tried this on multiple products so I believe its specific to iTunes not a particular device.

Same thing here- Get the email but nothing but the Inside featurette. It's really annoying. In fact I can't even download it normally using the check for available downloads feature! Every time I do that iTunes tries to download doubles of three Walking Dead episodes I've already downloaded. I don't want what I already have, I just want the new episode.

A simple search of the forums for the actual error would have revealed the resolution.
Temporarily disable all security software on the computer.

I am having a similar problem. Running Xp.
Latest revision of firefox.
After using firefox for a while if I exit, parent.lock is locked and i have to reboot to reload firefox.
I have killed all firefox applications from task manager (usually there are none). and I have tried 3 different "file unlock" programs including unlocker to no avail.
I also recently installed a program that shows -all- open files, and parent.lock is not listed, and thus not closable/unlockable from there.

Firefox is not saving open tabs when closing, it says other session of Firefox is running but this is not the case.

Firefox used to save open tabs when closing the browser. This no longer happens and Firefox says other session running. Task Manager shows that this is not the case.
Recently installed an flv/mpeg viewer "aLot" which placed a toolbar in Firefox.
Am running Firefox 3.0.5 on Windows XP with Service Pack 3.

Your useragent says your are running Firefox 3.6.13 -> is that true.
If not, do the following and post back your new Firefox version:
* Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
* If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
* Filter = general.useragent.
* Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
* Then restart Firefox
