Firefox is suddenly slow with APEX

Application Express 4.0.2.00.06
Linux
Oracle 11g R1
Just yesterday APEX started running very slowly in Firefox 3.6.20. It runs better in IE but has basically become unresponsive in Firefox. Has anyone experience a similar problem? I have been using this product since HTMLDB 1.5 and have never seen this behaviour before. TIA.

Here are the errors I am getting. Some seem to be related to JQuery, other to an inability to find certain functions.

  • Firefox is awfully slow with YouTube?

For the past four days Firefox is awfully slow with YouTube. Video buffering isn't affected, however every page takes twice as much to load than it did before. I just upgraded to Firefox 14 but it didn't solve the problem.
I have the latest flash version and use Windows XP. YouTube runs just fine on Chrome, but lags with Firefox. I really don't feel like switching over to Chrome. Any suggestions?
I cleaned my registry a few days /before/ this started happening. Could it be relevant? The lagging didn't start right after I did that.
    I'm desperate. ;o;

Truth is I had Flash 10.1 when the problem occured because by computer doesn't seem to want to co-operate with any other. In the middle of watching a video it would freeze out with any recent version and I would have to restart. So yeah, when the lag kicked in, I thought to upgrade to the latest one but that didn't fix anything. So now I'm back to Flash 10.1

  • Firefox becomes very slow with Yahoo All-New Mail

Problems with the Yahoo! All-New Mail version: Everything was working fine, but since the last two Firefox updates I began noticing that Yahoo was consuming a lot of CPU (it varies from 35% to 40% and is on the top list of programs CPU consumption) and the experience of navigation becomes not so pleasant - slowness. If I quit Firefox and reopen it, becomes faster, but after about 30 min slowness / CPU high consumption start again. Then I had to come back to Yahoo Mail Classic version and everything works fine and less CPU consumed. Is it only me experiencing this? Is it a Yahoo Mail issue? Is there a solution? (Macbook Pro early 2011/ Mac OS X 10.7.4 / Firefox 12.0) Thanks!

Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker.

  • Firefox Developer Version slow with Debugger

Hello! I have moved over from Chrome and have been using the Firefox Developer Version (currently version 39.0a2 (2015-04-10)).
I'm having an issue where I work on a site with a LOT of javascript. When I load the page and want to debug that javascript......Firefox developer version is soooo slow. It takes a very long time for it to pull in all the javascript. I don't think I saw this behavior BEFORE I went to the Debugging tab.
Is there anyway to disable the Debugger tab? It seems to be processing all of the JS files (hundreds) and it takes a long time. In contrast, Chrome loads VERY quickly.
    Thanks.

    HI demichej,
This version is still being developed. Please check out the steps to file an issue about in in bugzilla.mozilla.org.

  • Why hiMac has suddenly slowed with frequent beach ball

    Hi
I am having terrible troubles with my iMac.
About a month ago the hard drive become pretty full (only about 5GB to spare). I transferred off my iPhoto library and now have about 100GB free. At about the same time I downloaded the Aperture trial and it spend about 2 days processing the old iPhoto library non-stop.
Since then - with the exception of a week or so when everything seemed fine - the computer has been behaving very unreliably, with frequent beachballs even doing the simplest things such as using Safari. I've had to just turn it off a number of times as the beachball has not seemed to go away.
A couple of times when the computer booted it briefly (5-10 secs) displayed a white screen with small black squares (about .5cm*.5cm) sprinkled around it and random look grey splodges in places.
After reading a number of forums I have tried the following to no avail:
    Verifying/resetting permissions
Resetting the PRAM and holding down shift on startup
Creating a new user account (same beachball problem)
Checking the disk and hardware by holding down D from the install disk (no problems found)
Downloading and reinstalling the latest 10.6.5 combo update (it didn't install due to an error - I tried twice)
Checking activity monitor for free internal memory (same problems even with at least 1GB free) or processes hogging the CPU - nothing apparent
    Deleting various caches
Making sure all software updates are installed
    Using Clicktoflash
The computer is practically unusable now. It reminds me of when my internal hard drive broke on my Powermac G4 but I can't be sure as I haven't lost any data and the hardware check didn't identify any problems.
BTW when I installed Snow Leopard I installed it on top of the original Leopard.
I see a number of options:
    1. Reinstall Snow Leopard from scratch and try using Migration Assistant to gather in what I need
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard and just copy over what I need from the Time Machine disk and hope I don't forget anything.
    3. Reinstall Snow Leopard and use the Time Machine backup (though this would presumably just copy over any flaws which are causing the problem)
    Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for your help! I really appreciate it....

After the HD has been replaced I would recommend doing a clean install and then restore from TM. I would also recommend prior to installing the new HD to use a second external HD and make a bootable clone of our internal HD. Redundant backups are safer. I'll tell you a recent war story.
Recently I decided to do a clean install and wanted to restore from TM. I did my install and restored from TM only to find my TM copy was corrupt! Because I had a bootable clone I was about to boot from it and then restore from that drive therefore not losing my data and applications.
To create a bootable clone you need two things:
    1. External HD (don't use the TM drive!!!!!)
    2. Software, either SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner. CCC is free but offers no support, SD is $28 but offers support. I prefer SD myself and have found the support excellent on the rare times I've needed it.

  • I was having problems with Firefox browsing VERY SLOW, and since Mozilla doesn't have support for Mac users, there was no solution to this problem. I have switched to CHROME and WOW this browser if FAST!.

i have the same problem with the above..firefox is running too slow with the games in facebook..but it runs good when browsing my updates, msgs, photos...firefox is totally opposite of IE..IE is faster with the games and slow while browsing..i love to use mozila but when i do games it really pisses me off...hope you could help me..

  • Firefox becomes really slow then eventually unresponsive when loading a page with many hires images. Unsual high memory usage up to 2gigs just for firefox. Was never a problem with v3.6.

When loading a page with many hires images, Firefox becomes really slow and scrolling becomes jumpy then eventually becomes completely unresponsive. Unusual high memory usage of up to 2gigs just for firefox when loading these pages. This was never a problem with v3.6.

I encountered the same type of problem. Firefox running terribly slowly and slowing down my entire machine (Core i5 with 256GB SSD). Searching the forums, I found a couple of things about troubleshooting performance issues, one of which was to use '''hardware acceleration''', that is on by default. It was turned on on my PC, '''so I tried deactivating it, and it worked!'''
So doing the exact opposite as Mozilla support said solved the problem. It is really a pain now to work with Firefox. I'm using it because I have no choice, but I'd recommend IE and Chrome over Firefox... Whatever, the market will decide once Firefox has become to crappy...

  • My macbook pro is running very slow with some strange mouse and window movements. The trackpad is very unresponsive and when responding the cursor moves on its own and/or very erratically. When on safari the window suddenly zooms in or highlights words.

My macbook pro is running very slow with some strange mouse and window movements. The trackpad is very unresponsive and when responding the cursor moves on its own and/or very erratically. When on safari the window suddenly zooms in or highlights words and looks them up via dictionary. I currently have a wireless mouse connected and I am still having the same problems.
I fee like I may have a virus or my laptop is perhaps being accessed remotely. All of the sharing options are unchecked.
    HELP PLEASE
    Very worried!!

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • Firefox3 slow performance with APEX apps

    Hi all,
I've been using Firefox 3 to develop an APEX app (my first). Today, I see that every time I navigate in an APEX form (e.g. Next or Prev row), the HD light on my laptop's docking station glows for a second. After some snooping, I see that FF3 uses a local SQLLite DB to capture URL history. The glowing light makes sense, since each Next/Prev click on the form changes the URL to include the new value for the primary key of the form's underlying table -- new URL, new write to the history. And since SQLLite reportedly syncs every write to disk, I get a glowing HD light with every form nav click.
Anyone else noticed this rather annoying behavior? Any thoughts on resolving (other than switching browsers!)?
    TIA,
    Rich

    Hi John,
You must be using a different version of Google -- I didn't see that one! It turns out that I had my FF3 kept history cranked to 90 days, like I had in FF2. Only now there's apparently a huge performance penalty for that setting.
The plugin worked, as dropping the history time apparently did a "DELETE FROM" instead of a "TRUNCATE...DROP STORAGE" and the SQLLite DB was still >25MB. The plugin's compact function dropped it to 240KB and now my APEX navigation is back to acceptable performance.
Just what I need -- yet <em>ANOTHER</em> high-maintenance database ala SQL Server that I need to take care of! :_|
    Thanks!
    Rich

  • After running Malwarebytes & it removing/quarantine threats, Firefox works & loads slow along with other programs. Videos are now really slow also.

I downloaded Malwarebytes to run a scan of my system. After it had detected some threats, It removed/quarantined all the threats it had found. I use Firefox & have been happy with it & have the latest version - 25.0.. I have since uninstalled it but my system loads very slow & all programs are affected including videos, etc.. The system was fine before this was done.

I have/had this exact problem -I just restored everything that Malwarebites "quarantined" (an option within the program), and it honestly seems better already. My wireless network connection was even restored and is working well again (after running Malwarebites the connection wouldn't automatically connect after sleeping as it did before).
My guess is, Malwarebites isn't so good at differentiating good from bad.
I've only been running the PC for about 20 minutes since restoring everything, but I've noticed improvements in everything (especially boot up). I'll update this if my results change, but as of now it seems to have fixed the problem.
*update -after restoring the quarantined items and removing the program from my PC everything seems to be running at it's original speed. Firefox, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver are all opening and running at near instant speeds (as they originally did).

  • FireFox VERY slow with Norton Toolbar 4.6 on GMAIL and B of A, etc.

Using XP Pro SP3 and FireFox 3.6.7, but has been slow for a while now. If I disable Norton ToolBar 4.6 (from NIS 2010) it is OK but IE 8 is fine. What happens is that GMAIL logs in and just hangs for a while. Even B of A or the Norton site. Even my ISP's site is VERY slow. A lot of forums are slow as well. Seems like sites that need a log-in have this issue.

I had done this and disabled ALL of the addons/plugins, and it was fine. As soon as I enabled the Norton toolbar, the problem was back. I then enabled everything except the Norton Toolbar and it was still good. I believe this is a Firefox issue as IE 8 works well with the Norton Toolbar enabled. I also see this when I go to my Netflix queue. Firefox is very slow while IE 8 shows the list quickly.
