Firefox is very slow to load the program or any link I click on.

Firefox and any link takes up to 40 seconds to load. Safari is lightning speed compared to Firefox. I have deleted history and changed to save 5 days, emptied cashe. Still very slow to load anything.

Ridiculously slow... and I am a long time user. But after a hard disc failure upon loading the latest version I sit and wait and wait and wait and wait. Wha....?

  • I downloaded the latest important update to windows vista yesterday, and since then Firefox crashes very soon after enetering the portal of any website I visit, and I want to know if the windows vista update could be doing this?

Yesterday (23rd March) my computer appeared to perform an auto update of windows vista and since then every time time use firefox it crashes shortly after entering a web portal (after about 1-5 seconds). It even crashes on the BBC news page which I always use to check stability. I have been using Firefox for years and it has just started doing this. However, I examined the programme files and actaully cannot see a windows vista update for yesterday, but I can see that there was a Firefox update, so now I'm a bit confused. Looking at the program files in more details it appears that there was a very major update of Firefox taking place including lots of file extensions. You should also know that your password recovery process doesn't work. I never got the email that is supposed to help me recover a lost password. I am really disappointed with Firefox doing this. It's costing me time and money. Can you help before I give up and go back to using Windows explorer (ugh!). I have thought of simply removing Firefox and starting again with a new download but that might not solve the probelm and I will lose my bookmarks.

I have an update to my message posted yesterday regarding Firefox crash after vista update. Today it got worse when Firefox wouldn't open at all and Windows explorer also stopped working. Curiously, email was still working, and when I checked another (little used) account on the same PC, I got a perfect connection with Firefox and Explorer. I had to conclude that the latest updates of Vista have interacted with some application only found in my main account on the PC. I tried opening Firefox in its safe mode and I tried opening explorer without Plug ins, but neither worked. Finally I decided the only answer was to do a system restore and wind back the windows software to where it was before the problem. I now have Firefox and explorer restored to working order, but I still don't understand why, because I got a message saying the system restore hasn't worked. Full Comprehension of the cause is beyond my capability, but through trial and error as described above I seem to have fixed it. The suspect vista updates are KB2505189 , and KB2524375.

  • Compared to Internet Explorer, Firefox is very slow to load up websites. Why?

I was trying searching through some of the social security websites with Firefox. It would take up to 5 minutes for Firefox to load certain pages. When I copied/pasted the address into Internet Explorer the page came up immediately. Any suggestions?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Firefox 4 very slow to load

Please can you tell me how to revert back to the previous version 3. All I read about is that so many users are having speed issues with the new version. I don't want to sit for hours trying this and that, turning plug-ins off etc.. I just now want to go back to a version which was the best on the market. Thanks.

Create a new profile exclusively for the 4.0 beta version and create a desktop shortcut with -P "profile" appended to the target to launch that profile.

  • Latest update has my safari/firefox running very slow

I did the latest software update Monday night, and now my safari and firefox are very slow to load. I have raised the memory storage to 100 MB, tried the proxy thing (didn't work, so I put it back to where it was), tried clearing the cache, and I don't know what to do. I have a router with specific numbers, so I can't change that on the TCP thing.
    Please help.

I added the DNS numbers and safari is working, but what about my slow Firefox?
Your system uses DNS for its internet connection, so if it helps Safari it should have the same effect on Firefox. If Firefox is having problems when Safari is not, that's a problem specific to that program and you might want to pursue that on the forums dedicated to its support.

  • Firefox is very slow to respond when opening and nearly always stops responding altogether even refusing to react to Task Manager "End Program@ command. The "not responding@ error message also comes up during navigation on line.

Firefox is very slow to respond when opening and nearly always stops responding altogether, even refusing to react to the Task Manager "End Program" command. The "not responding" error message also comes up during navigation on line. Several attempt have to be made to get on line. A loss of stability seems to be endemic at the moment.

  • Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

  • Firefox 9.0.1 is very slow to load some pages

I upgraded from FF6 to F9.0.1 and what a mistake.
Most sites, like www.bbc.co.uk, are very slow to load.
The upgrade to 9.0.1 is the only change I have made and would now like to go back to my previous version 6.0 but i am unable to locate the files to do this with to download
Can someone either make the older version of FF available or help me to get 9.0.1 up to speed.

    9 is like Windows Me.
    Epic Fail.
Adding nbrs to version is not a solution.
Better to go back to 3.6 and make that better rather than get in the version race with Chrome and IE.

  • Why doesn't my MacBook finish connecting to the ISP? It is very slow to load graphics if it does connect.

Why doesn't my MacBook finish connecting to the ISP? It is very slow to load graphics if it does connect. This happens with ethernet or wifi.

    Timothy ..
Contanct your ISP for support but keep in mind, if your Mac is running v10.5.8 as your profile suggests, that is a very outdated OS X and you may have issues loading graphics at this point.
If you are using Safari, empty the Safari cache then quit and relaunch Safari and try loading an image.
And make sure there's enough free space on the disk to load images.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop then click Get Info.
That will open the Get Info panel.
Check Capacity and Available. Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.

  • PS CC 2014 very slow to load and operate after 2014.2 update

I updated my Photoshop CC 2014 64bit today.  It was working perfectly up to the update.  Since the update, PSCC 2014 has been very, very slow to load and slow in use.  I have uninstalled PS used the PS Cleaner and reinstalled through CC Desktop.  The speed problem remains.  Interestingly, 3D is the Menu feature that seems to take the longest to load.  In other words, the program eventually loads, but 3D appears 6 or 7 seconds later.  I don't know if this is significant.  The setup was working fine up to the update.
Grateful for any ideas about what may be the problem and what I can do about it.
My system is a 3770K, with 32Gb ram, x4 SSDs one dedicated to OS and programs and the others to data, and an Asus GTX660 (2Gb) graphics card.  I am using the latest driver from the Nvidia site.  OS is Windows 7 64bit.
I am getting no error messages - just great sluggishness.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I had to get some sleep.
Changing "sniffer" made no difference I'm afraid.  I have put it back to "sniffer.exe" having tried reopening with "~sniffer" twice with no success.
Resources.  The maximum cpu resource used during the period from clicking the desktop icon to the menus in the program becoming usable is 23%.
At the end of the splash screen when "initializing panels" is briefly on the splash screen, the line for the resource meter for the cpu went red and said "not responding" - the red disappeared once the workspace was active:

  • Safari 5.0.5 very slow to load.

safari 5.0.5 has suddenly started to become very slow with either the page taking an age to load or the page loads but the spinning wheel just carries on for ever at the end of the address bar, so if you open up another tab the thing grinds to a halt. I ve looked through all the solutions in the forum and every thing is fine apart from there is no com.apple.safari.plist folder anywhere. Also I ve tried firefox and thats equally as slow, so I tried chrome thats faster but hangs now and again. All software is bang up to date. It is nt my router because it downloads at lightening speed with files etc. Can anyone help please.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
Right or control click your MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop then click: Get Info. In the Get Info panel, where you see capacity and available, make sure you have minimum of 15% free disk space.
If that doesn't help, try Safari in another user account. Same problems there then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk. (not Verify Disk Permissions). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks

  • Premiere Pro CC locking up and very slow to load bigger projects

I am having a problem with premirepro cc locking up and very slow to load bigger projects.
    Windows 8 machine

I am having the EXACT same issue and now we are WAY behind deadlines.  We have Adobe for Teams on 3 computers, all are HPZ820, Dual Proc with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 @ 2.00GHz, 32 GB RAM, Dual Video Cards Quadro 6000 4GB, Windows 7 64 bit with all the latest patches.  Everything worked on the first release of 2014 but last week there was an "update" to Premiere.  Since this update, projects work for a short period.  When you start a new project and add footage, you can scrub the footage and play the footage with no issue.  But the more assets you add, simple Titles, it slowly starts to fail.  Playing the timeline starts and stops and then finally the end result is you can't even play the timeline.  The Program window is frozen.  I have even tested starting a new project, adding assets one by one but no matter what, I get the same results.

  • Firefox 13 very slow compared to IE or Chrome despite Fastestfox

Firefox is very slow compared to IE 8 or Google Chrome despite Fastestfox plugin and the server connection is interrupted all the time when I try to load sites, and I have to re-load again and again (this also happens wehn I clicked on HELP)... I also could not restart in safemode as I didn't find it... Please help, as I would like to use Firefox...

I noticed firefox 13.0.1 is very slow after gradual use. Even my computer is slowing down when using it.. All this nonsense about the addon or extension seems like Bull...
Im thinking of using version 3.6.28 which was wayyyy faster. Mozilla need to make more quality products.
I recommend either going back to Internet Explorer or using Firefox 3.6.28, i really hope mozilla's next browser ver 14 is way faster...

  • Wakes from sleep very slowly, starting to flicker sometimes, very slow to load websites

wakes from sleep very slowly, screen starting to flicker sometimes, very slow to load. i use microsoft email and just did an update. did this affect my system? My msn mail is awkward..... today, beeping sounds starting at random. ???

i did a restore off the Toshiba discs i had made, and again, it ran fine in the beginning, then all of sudden a month or two, and it started being slow again.
I expect something you installed or updated caused the trouble. Best strategy is to identify the culprit.
I would restore from the Toshiba discs again. Then carefully add things one-at-a-time, rebooting, and checking things out after each.
Be sure you create a restore point prior to adding hardware or installing software. Microsoft programs like Windows Update will automatically make one before installing anything.
