Firefox is very very slow, constantly "thinking", scrolling is not smooth

I don't have these problems in Chrome, but I really don't want to switch and lose all my bookmarks etc. I'm on a Macbook Pro.

There must be too many add-ons installed in your Firefox. please try to open your Firefox in safe mood and let us know if this problem also occurs.
For getting instruction on opening Firefox in safe mood, you can see this article '''[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]'''
If the problem does not happen in safe mood, there must be some problem in your add-ons. disable your several add-ons, and try to open it.
If still your problem can not be solved, please let us know.

  • Scrolling is not smooth

This is my HTML5 mobile app.
    http://hn.premii.com/
    there are couple of issues:
    1. Scrolling is not smooth as other browsers (Chrome, Safari or IE10). on firefox, scrolling shutters. How do I make scrolling smooth as other browsers?
    2. When you click on links, it shows gray background. How do I disable that?

I am not creating my own scroll handlers. I am using overflow: auto for scrolling. I have Nexus 4 and galaxy s3, and firefox scrolling shutters on both.
Also removing that CSS won't help at all. Color is for text color, and not background color. You can remove tap highlight color in webkit using
    -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);
    }

Under '''''Browsing''''' do you have '''Use smooth scrolling''' check-marked?

  • Firefox scrolling is not smooth AT ALL !!!!!!!!

I don't know if i'm the only one who is having this problem but scrolling in firefox is not smooth and way to fast (compared with safari and camino).
I downloaded the newest version (1.5) but the problem still exists.
Does this have anything to do with the fact that i changed the settings (about:config) when using the older version of firefox to disable the back/forward trackpad feature ?

    Pedro,
Have you experimented with Firefox Preferences>Advanced>General>Browsing (Use autoscrolling/smooth scrolling)?
    ;~)

  • Scrolling is not smooth in safari.

This is a very annoying problem. When scrolling through web pages it will stop/freeze for a couple of seconds before jerking ahead as if to catch up to the place on the page where it should be if it had been smooth. The problem with this is that it jerks to an unfamiliar location on the page causing me to have to find where I am and pick up where I left off reading.
    Has anyone else see this?
Also, when I type stuff, like now, it is not fluid. In other words, the phone places the text much slower than I can tap/type it in. There is this very annoying lag.

    Greetings,
Try clearing your cache out, some other people have mentioned that it helps, and I have done it for this very thing. Go to > Settings > Safari > scroll down to "Clear History, Clear Cookies, and Clear Cache". Clear them all.
Sometimes, shutting the phone all the way off, not just putting it to sleep. Wait a minute, and then start it up again.
    Cheers,
    M.

  • Scrolling is not smooth in mountain lion

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and the scrolling on websites with both Safari and Firefox are not smooth. Even when typing (such as just now writing this), sometimes the cursor hangs for a second. Is there a setting that can be changed to fix this or is this a bug in Mountain Lion. I saw other complaints listed a bug reporting site for Apple but when I click on that it says it is only for developers, not for users.

Solved. See this link about the runanway program AddressBookSourceSync

  • TS3274 hi , when i open some app like facebook and ppt file frome my email , scrolling is not smooth !! . why ?

hi every body , who can help me ?

    Hi Mac Attack,
My computer will not disconnect from the internet.  It seems to find a clone router and continues even when I shut down and unplug my my own home iy
Your main question was 'chopped' in the title. Please reply in the body of a reply box with the full question and anything you have tried. And no, the long report was not helpful .
If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.
    System Preferences > General
Have a look at your settings in System Preferences >  Security & Privacy.
    Call back with more questions.

  • Animation scroll not smooth in iOS

Hi! I figured out to make parralax responsive scrolling in adobe edge animate (with great help from tim jaramillo), but the scrolling is not smooth in ios.
Is there any way to make it smooth/elastic like a normal scroll in ios (ipad, iphone etc.) This would be so great to have! In normal browsers it's fine, though:
I know its tough to get parallax scrolling in ios anyway, so this would be aa big achievement to have...

    Here is your quick fix.
    1. Make sure your Predictive text is on
    2. Go to your messages app
    3. Make sure your keyboard is up in the messages bar
    4. On top of your keyboard in the center there is a small WHITE LINE
    5. Touch and hold on that spot until that white line is gray out
    6. Flick your finger/thumb up and Bam!!there is your predictive text.
    7. FYI if you are typing and somehow you flick your thumb down, you will close that predictive feature by accident.
    Hope this help you out!!

  • Firefox 4.0.1 is constantly freezing, having to reboot constantly, and not responding to key strokes, and very slow responses to keys strokes and to change sites

firefox 4.0.1 is constantly freezing, having to reboot constantly, and not responding to key strokes, and very slow responses to keys strokes and to change sites. Firefox 3. (the previous incarnation of firefox) did not have such problems - this has started since "upgrading to 4.0.1 - I want to change back to the previous Firefox since this is a serious problem - need specific instructions on how to go back to the old Firefox

Do you have multiple keyboard layouts installed?
It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.
    * http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258824 - How to change your keyboard layout
Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.
    * http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/The-Language-bar-overview The Language bar (overview)
    * Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar
    * You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar
    * Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar
    * You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application

    Hi,
Please try disabling all the features under '''Browsing''' in '''Tools '''('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options '''> '''Advanced '''> '''General'''. You can later toggle the values to find an optimum solution. Please also [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Advanced%20panel?as=u see this.]

  • Firefox (3.6.10) is very sluggish/slow and hangs up

All of a sudden Firefox (3.6.10) is very sluggish/slow and hangs up
I've been using Firefox (very actively) for over a year now and all of a sudden (yesterday) it began to act very sluggishly. On sites I have always visited frequently it hangs up for periods of 15-90 seconds or more, won't scroll down, won't open hot links, slowly opens new tabs ...
I rebooted my PC (multiple times), powered down my modem and router, ran a Norton disk optimization - essentially making sure it was not an outside factor effecting Firefox's performance. (Note: I am using a cable connection.)
I then ran a side by side speed comparison with Internet explorer (on my 2nd monitor) going to the same web sites, and IE had no problems/hang-ups.
FYI I only have a couple of add ins/extensions (Java, Microsoft Framework, Norton, No Squint, & RealPlayer) and none of those are new within the past few weeks at least.
Any ideas on what could be causing this? How to fix? (As I much prefer Firefox to any Microsoft product.)
    Thanks.

Yes, FF gets sluggish from time to time. Sorry but it's the fact! FF also cannot render some websites properly (especially v3.6.10). I'm a big fan of all Mozilla software but FF 3.6.10 makes me very disappointed.

  • FP10 very very slow on Firefox 3, WinXp SP3

    Hi everybody !
It's been a while I've had this problem on Flash Player, even
before installing FP10 (don't remember when it began but lastly it
has been irritating me a lot more, so here I am to find a solution
    with your help ! ^^) :
I'm experiencing very very big lagging with almost all kind
of flash applications. Even with small flash games on the web, my
CPU usage often jumps to 100% until I quit the flash, and I often
runs as slow as 5 or even 2 fps...
I already tried to uninstall and reinstall the Flash Player
with the Adobe uninstaller, but the same problem reappears again...
I'm currently running the Flash Player v10.0.12.36, under
Firefox 3 and Windows XP SP3.
My computer is quite ok for this kind of thing (1.73gHz,
    nVidia Geforce 6800GO 256Mb, memory 1Go) so I don't think its a
    power problem...
Could someone have an idea on how to solve this very
    frustrating problem ?

I've been doing research about this excessively high CPU usage problem (100%!) for weeks because I have also experienced it with my  laptop. Just recently, I have finally found the solution. The problem is not your browser or your OS or your pc's memory. The problem is caused by authorization for flash player.
Read the link (posted below) carefully and follow the steps accordingly. If you have already done steps 1 through 6 with your computer, you can go straight to step 7.

PS: I am not the author of that link, so please thank the respective site owner if you find the procedure very helpful.
Please let me know also if the link solves your problem. I am sharing this because Adobe seems unable to provide solutions to this, and I don't want to hear people suffer.

  • Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

  • My scroll feature of the Lenovo ThinkPad(red scroll) is not working in the new Firefox 4. It was working fine in 3.6. Can you please fix this as this is very important feature.

The scroll feature(middle button) is not working on the new firefox 4. So because of this I need to move the scroll bar to move the page. This is very irritating problem, if you are a guy who uses the middle button to scroll. Can you please fix this..
    Thanks!!!

I updated to Firefox 4.01 today and the middle scroll button on my Lenovo T400 stopped working. I downloaded the updated Ultranav utility and the Ultranav driver for my T400 from here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72858.html and then uninstalled the "Thinkpad Ultranav Driver" from Add/Remove programs rebooted and then installed the updated utility and driver (another reboot) and it now works perfectly.
So glad to get this working again.

  • This is detailed: I lost my touch pad scroll ability on my desktop when I installed Firefox, I am having a terrible time trying to sync my new Android tablet to my desktop, my desktop Firefox is acting very strangly (I need help trying to use it)

My Vista Home Premium desktop has not used Firefox for a long time. I just loaded it as well as on my Honeycomb Android. The statement that I made pretty much says what my problem is. I can use both of them at the same time and use a router with the air Verizon card installed.
I'll repeat my question: This is detailed: I lost my touch pad scroll ability on my desktop when I installed Firefox, I am having a terrible time trying to sync my new Android tablet to my desktop, my desktop Firefox is acting very strangely (I need help trying to use it)
