Firefox just started crashing on Mac.

My Firefox just started crashing today.
Haven't updated anything so is a bit out of the blue!
Can only start it in safe mode.
I can't delete version & install new version either as apparently my system doesn't support new system.
I have MAC 10.5.8.
These are my error messages:

Then '''Advanced > General.'''
Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.

• Skype just started crashing? Mac OS X 10.10.4

I am using a Macbook Pro yosemite and I haven't had any problems with skype for the four years I've been using it until now. When I go on skype, it starts up as usual and takes me to the home page. But, if I click on a contact or group call that I have a notification from, Skype just crashes. Then it gives me the whole "skype quit unexpectedly" and when I click reopen, it opens as normal but crashes again when I try to click on the contact or group I want to call or chat with! Heres the code I get when it crashes vv Process: Skype [6270]

OK, I found the solution in another thread (that I couldn't find until after I replied to this thread!) http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Skype-7-9-746-crashing-on-Mac-OS-X-10-10-4-HELP/td-p/4033122/page/2 But, I couldn't just remove the file within the library, (it still kept crashing). I had to remove the "Skype" folder within the "Application Support" directory within the "Library" directory. For good measure I used AppCleaner to uninstall Skype, then I re-downloaded Skype and re-installed it. Had to put in my credentials again of course, but it seems to be working now. Crossing my fingers,Jean

• Just started up my Mac Mini out of the box, using a USB windows keyboard, it will not recognize letters so I am unable to enter serial number. Anything I can do to get the mini mac right out of the box to recognize the windows keyboard?

Just started up my Mac Mini out of the box, using a USB windows keyboard, it will not recognize letters so I am unable to enter serial number. Anything I can do to get the mini mac right out of the box to recognize the windows keyboard? Do I have to buy an Apple Keyboard to get it to work right out of the box?

Is this a normal USB keyboard or is there anything specialized about it? Does this keyboard require you to install any special software to use it on a Windows box? Or is it usually a plug & play keyboard?
Normally if a Mac does not recognize a keyboard it asks you to press certain keys to identify the keyboard. What is happening on screen with this keyboard? What serial number are you referring to?

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

• Firefox suddenly started crashing every few minutes

I've been using FF for a long time on this PC. Suddenly its started crashing every few minutes, its the Windows "Firefox has stopped working" crash, so doesn't record on Firefox's about:crashes. If FF is left running in the background, it dies after a few minutes - I don't even need to be using it.
The window event details are ..

I use Portable Firefox and I have both 4.0 and 5.0 installations, and both show the same symptoms. I downloaded a completely clean 5.0 and also a 3.6.18, and both show the same fault.
Any ideas? Windows is clearly killing Firefox, it doesn't appear to be an add-on or plugin that's the issue.

I've just tried Aurora, and it seems to work. I've been using it now for just about a whole day's work without a crash. I briefly swapped back to 5.0 to check that my PC hadn't magically fixed itself, but no .. 5.0 only lasted a couple of minutes before dying.
It's not properly supported as a Portable APP but there's a way to bodge it together.

• Firefox just started to do this if on one user account someone has firefox running another user account on the same computer can not connect to the internet through firefox while firefox is running in the first user account

Windows XP/Windows 7
2 user accounts on the computer. If each acct is logged into the computer and tries to have firefox running only one can connect to the internet at a time. Have Verizon FIOS for ISP and this just started to occur. Firefox version 8 but also happening in firefox 6.0.2. How can we run firefox in two computer accts at the same time? Thank you

I am having exactly the same problem. This worked on all versions of Firefox up until mid last week. It started failing on Wednesday, coincident with the installation of Firefox 8.0 (see attached gif showing the automatic update on that date).
To fix the problem, you have to shut down Firefox 8.0 on one account, switch to the other account and then you can run it there.
If Firefox 8.0 is running on on account, the other account will run Firefox, but when you enter an URL it waits for quite a while then reports "The connection was reset. The connection was reset while the page was loading".
We also use Thunderbird 8.0 and it does not exhibit this problem, and works at the same time as Firefox 8.0. I suspect they might share some components.
I'd be happy to supply more details if needed.
Thanks,
Ed

• Cannot scroll up or down in Firefox, just started

A couple of days ago, it just started not scrolling. I can scroll with the mouse scroll button. I cannot scroll with keyboard arrows, up and down. I have checked everything I can think of. There is no symbol anywhere that I can see. I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Checked my options and all. Cannot tell if anything is wrong on some of them. The ones I think I know about are ok. Please help. Thanks.

hello, maybe you're in caret browsing mode accidentally. if so press F7 in order to leave caret browsing mode again - then the behaviour should be back to normal...

If the smtp is rejecting your password you should go in.
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your Yahoo account in the sidebar on the left.
In account information tab you will see : " Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) "
Click on it and choose edit SMTP server list.
Select Yahoo and click on the advanced tab.
Now fill your new Yahoo password.
Hope it's help.

• Firefox just vanished from my mac! What happened?

The Mac Book Pro was turned off and when it was turned on the whole Firefox program and any history was gone! completely wiped from the computer, not in trash... nowhere!

I assume this is on Windows?
If you go to the Start menu, search box or Run box, and type or paste the following, then press Enter, does Firefox come up?
firefox.exe
If that works, you might just need to create a new shortcut on the desktop for Firefox. One way would be to go into the Start menu > All Programs, find Mozilla Firefox, right-click > Copy it, then on the desktop, right-click>Paste to copy the shortcut there.
Or if you mean you want a shortcut directly to your email website, there's a different way to do that (more info if needed).

• Final Cut Just started crashing and horrible audio

A little background in case it is important, otherwise sorry for the boring stuff. I have been working with Final Cut Studio 6.o on this Mac with Leopard for about a year and a half. I was slowly becoming a Mac believer. I installed Snow Leopard and upgraded to FC 7 a month or so ago. All was great. Thursday of last week I had a kernel panic. It occurred within an hour of installing Data Rescue 3, which I believe now was just a coincidence. I uninstalled Data 3 with App Zapper. Wow, everything was back to normal, I edited with no issues on Friday. Monday, back to edit and I can't keep the computer on without a kernel panic. I diligently followed all the advice I could on the forum. Made sure everything was current with updates. FCS, Sonnet, Snow Leopard etc. I deleted a lot of "bad" files/folders per the online help. I did and erase and install of Snow Leopard. I solved (stumbled into it most likely) the kernel issue. I went to use FCP7 and when I would add a graphic it would crash. As I tried to play audio, the audio was unintelligible. I did get it to work long enough to make two edits and output a QT to burn a disc. That all worked well. Now it just crashes and plays horrible audio. I did do a reinstall of FCS 7.0. and downloaded and installed an applications update.
Am I missing something? if there is a link with a similar problem send me there please.
I really tried to follow the forum before I posted.

You're probably not going to like hearing this but...
The only way to depend on your system in a professional environment is to do a clean install of OS and Applications. When everything is working fine, clone your startup drive and test the integrity of the clone. NEVER do an update or install any apps that might have an overall impact on your system without making sure your clone is up to date. If and when you have a problem you can always restore your clone to your startup drive and get back to work. If you have a desktop machine and can install a second internal drive to clone to, you can be back at work within minutes. Also, any drive can fail or basic system elements can get corrupted.
And as someone else said, you can be working with non standard formats for months without a problem and suddenly things can go south. What format is the graphic you are adding? Are the pixel dimensions greater than 4000 x4000? Tell us something about what formats you're working in? Have you tried disconnecting ALL peripherals and see if the problem persists>

• I cannot access my AOL email via Firefox- just started Wednesday night... hae done updates- but when try go thru "feedback" of Mozilla- tells me must update to latest version- which I am running

cannot get my AOL email via Mozilla- have not had issue before- started and did update to newest version- when sign in to mail- just churns til it items out

This is bad - I have an Apple automated response that they got my report on 12/6, 12/10 and 12/14, and I haven't heard anything from them since the 6th when I got one reply that told me to do things I tried before reporting the problem. Between the 6th and 10th I replied to their response 4 times and they ignored me, forcing me to report a problem with two more items that wont download but getting no response.
How do they get away with this kind of behavior, especially for someone with FIVE Core 2 Duo macs and thousands of dollars of of iTunes store purchases? I'm getting really ******.

• Nightly just started crashing while using Outlook, any ideas why?

When I open an email in Outlook (webmail) the website appears to do a lot of connecting to other places really fast, then the browser crashes. I only get the Windows crash dialog and no crash report for Nightly.

I tried it in the current Nightly build on Linux and can confirm that opening a message gives some connecting messages flashing on the tab, but for me it stops after a few seconds and doesn't crash.
Most of the last request seem to be to the "db3msgr5011103.gateway.messenger.live.com" host if I check the Network log in the web console.
Did you try to clear the cache and cookies from websites that cause problems?
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
