Firefox keeps crashing and then I cannot use ANY browser without restarting my computer!

I have Firefox version 18.0.1 on a PC running XP. I love firefox and it has always been my favourite browser but for the last few months, it keeps freezing on me and then I have to force it closed (end program). After that I cannot restart it (or ant other browser on my PC) unless I restart my computer!
This is becoming a real pain - I have done loads of malware and virus scans and nothing has come up. I really don't get what the problem is - any plugins that Firefox detects are not compatible with the current version are disabled, so that can't be the issue.
Please help - I don't want to have to stop using Firefox.
If it helps, I have noticed this most when I try to log into my bank (with or without other tabs open) - I click log in and it freezes. The last time it happened, I was trying to log into ebay although I don't think it has only ever happened when trying to log in and it certainly doesn't happen to every website I try to log into.
Ignore the system info - I wrote this on my tablet while waiting for my computer to load up after the latest FF crash!

Just saw this: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/944193
I contacted Rapport and tehy seem to think that this is updated in the latest version (even though ht econsole said I had the latest version) so will give it a try. Fingers crossed

My imac 2007 keeps crashing and then it beeps continuously when starting up and just has a black screen.

Don't know what caused it other than RAM does occasionally fail.
Don't suppose you bought it from either Crucial or Macsales, as they guarantee their chips for life and will swap them over for replacements.
Sometimes, pulling the RAM chips out and re-seating them will get things working again.
Did you replace the original sticks or add to empty slots? It's often a case of trial and error to see which one/ones have failed. If the original chips were taken out and you still have them try pulling the chips that are currently installed and replacing them with the originals. Or, if the originals are still installed, just pull the additional chips and test. As I say, trial and error. Good luck!

• Firefox keeps crashing and closing after I've used HP Photosmart software

As title. I'm using Firefox 35.0.1 but the last few versions of FF have done this too.
After I've done any scanning with HP Photosmart scanning software Firefox keeps closing with a send-error-report box if I switch to a different tab or scroll up or down with the mousewheel. It does this almost immediately every time I restart FF and the problem is only solved by rebooting my laptop.
I updated all my drivers including nVidia drivers about ten days ago but it hasn't made a difference and tbh it doesn't seem like a graphics error to me anyway. This problem has gone on for several versions of FF now and I don't really have time to reboot my laptop every time I use my printer :( Maybe it is down to the HP software, but Chrome, Opera and IE don't have this issue, only FF, and using other browsers only serves to remind me how much I really prefer FF over all the others LOL x

Please provide some Crash Report ID's.
Follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
#Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
''' Note:''' If a recent Report ID does not start with '''bp-''' click on it to submit the report.

• Firefox keeps crashing, and adobe plugin crashing, too?

So, for a few days now, Firefox has been extremely touchy. It would crash at random times, but now, it crashes whenever I try to type something. It has gotten progressively worse. Also, I cannot play videos, as "Adobe Plugin has crashed". This isn't just once or twice. This is every video on every site. Please help!
If it's of any correlation, I was getting bluescreens and such earlier.

I am a webdesigner and developer. I always use firefox for building sites. One day I opened Firefox and from that day is crashing all the time. I open firefox and after 30 seconds will crash for sure ... also when I am building my site [http://www.betsearch.gr Stoixima] on my local enviroment is crashing too when I preview my site ... I unistall it and later install again and is keep crashing ... all the other browsers play good ...
I am very upset cause I love FIREFOX ... specially when I am creating my websites ...

• Firefox keeps crashing and is very slow.

I've tried disabling add-ons and plugins and I still have the same issues. It is using a ton of memory. I've scanned with malwarebytes and my antivirus. I also keep getting prompted to allow adobe flash on sites.

I have 8GB of memory. I have 11 add-ons. I do not have ghostery.
I did try to add Memory Fox but kept getting errors when I opened up FF and then sent to a 404 page not found. I saw on the Memory Fox add-on page a comment that someone said it was no longer available/discontinued - dated January 9, 2015. So I am trying the Free Memory add on.
As of today it crashes every time I try to play a video on any site. I do notice the memory goes up when I am using FB. I don't use Twitter on here. It also continuously goes up the longer I've had FF open. I don't usually have many tabs open. Maybe 4-5. My add ons usage looks like yours - Firefox using the most then adblock plus. The rest aren't using much.

• Windows 8 explorer.exe keeps crashing and I can't use Windows update as a result!

I've got Windows 8 64-bit, and it's been running fine for about 2 months now. Just today, it's started to crash the desktop every 6 seconds. The screen goes purple (which I'm pretty sure is just my chosen background colour), the outline of the taskbar remains,
but all the icons disappear, and then everything returns, only to crash again in another 6 seconds. I've watched the task manager, and under "background processes", an icon called "Windows Problem Reporting" appears for about a second,
and then goes away.
I've looked up some other people's questions about this, and most people seem to recommend checking for updates, or installing new graphics drivers, but this is not an option for me. Whenever the desktop crashes, it shuts down control panel as well. This
means I can't start my computer in safe mode, I can't check for updates, I can't uninstall/update drivers, I basically can't make any changes to my computer! Even as I'm writing this message, the cursor keeps disappearing from the test box whenever the desktop
crashes, and I have to click on the screen every 6 seconds. ARGH!

I have tried to set these 2 plugins to Never Activate, but everytime Firefox is restarted, they re-activate:
Cisco OpenH264 Video Codec
Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0

The five most recent crashes are coded OOM or "out of memory". This doesn't mean literally that every byte of memory was used, but that Firefox wasn't able to get a block of memory from Windows that suited its needs at the time. Your system memory use percentages were 67-81%, which are getting up there, but probably the bigger issue is how fragmented memory can get if you use many programs and go a long time between shutdowns.
I can't tell from the crash reports what Firefox was doing at the time it ran into memory problems, and it looks like you didn't enter any comments. Hopefully if you restart Windows this won't recur right away, but if it does, could you keep track of what was happening at the time to see whether that identifies a pattern or culprit?

• Firefox keeps failing and then goes into a recovery mode???????

Firefox keeps sending messages that it has failed and it will restart itself and attempt to recover.

Does Firefox crash or only fails to start properly?
You can check if you can start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] by holding down the Shift/Options key.
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:
*bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the Report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page (about:support).
*Click the "All Crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.
If necessary then you can open about: pages via the location/address bar.
If a report doesn't have the "bp-" prefix then click its line on the about:crashes page to submit the crash report and the crash report will get a "bp-" prefix (do not add it yourself).

• Firefox keeps crashing and I am on a MAC. I go to about:crashes and there are NO reports there. This update is a piece of crap. I have always liked Firefox, but I am seconds away from getting it off my computer forever! FIX it or at least do not send

No matter what page I try to go to the FIREFOX crashes. I go to about crashes it tells me there are no reports. I am on a MAC. The previous version of Firefox worked great ...this update is CRAP! How can you possibly put out a software update that is this bad? Are your programmers trying to put you out of business? This is the worse update that I have ever tried to work with since using a computer.... FIX this pathetic piece of software you call an update....... You help pages are worthless...they just send you in circles and never answer the question. I am on a MAC....I don't need to watch a vide on a PC! FIX your update!!!!!!!!

about:crashes only lists crashes that you have reported using the [[Mozilla Crash Reporter]] which comes up after a crash. Because there are so many possible reasons for a crash, getting the crash ID really helps volunteers find the cause quicker.
That doesn't mean we can't help without a crash id. :-) No crashes here, but I'm also on Snow Leopard and using Firefox 3.6.6.
Are you using Firefox 3.6.6? The most common cause of crashes on Mac is the Flash plugin. Are you using the latest version of Flash? You can check at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
Do you remember any specific circumstances about when the crash occurred? What sites you were on?
