Firefox keeps crashing my Video card driver... Is there any reason for this? And is there anything I can do to stop it from happening?

The problem keeps surfacing every time I use the browser. Around 1-2 times per session. It causes the screen to become unresponsive, and soon after it blacks out for about a second or so. Once it comes back I get a message saying that my Display driver has become unresponsive, but has recovered. Firefox continues to work, but sometimes the upper right row of buttons (minimize, maximize, close) either disappears or ceases to work. Never have had a similar problem before with any other browser or application.

Always backup your important data before upgrading to a new Mac OS X.
Lion doesn't erase the drive but better to be safe than sorry.
And run Disk Utility  (Applications/Utilities). Verify and if necessary repair the startup disk before upgrading.
Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
Before upgrading read here >  Lion upgrade questions and answers:  Apple Support Communities

My macbook pro says Shockwave Flash plug-in has crashed pretty much every day.  I have to shut the computer down and restart to fix it.  Is there any way I can keep this from happening?

Download the latest version from here ONLY:

also, make certain your Mac OS X software is completely up-to-date. There is a Trojan Horse that pretended to be a Flash update, and installed Flash with malware included. The latest security updates removes the malware and all older versions.

  • Firefox 6 causes my video card driver to freeze.

Since your last update the colors in Firefox have been glitchy and often change shades. Then the video driver freezes and gets recovered. It will do this two or three times before the computer locks up and has to be unplugged. I avoid Firefox and uninstalled it and the problem with my computer has gone away.
It is so unstable that I cannot even use this version at all. I would prefer version 5. I have Windows7 SP1 on an Intel i7 920 and 12 GB of ram. A Gigabyte SOC 560Ti with latest drivers. Please help.
I can send a full system spec if it helps

Are you restoring from backup or as a new device? If from backup, restore as new. Follow this by syncing your content back to the phone. If no change after doing so, make an appointment at any Apple store. There are no more user troubleshooting steps available.

PE 13 crashes due to incompatible video driver detected. Running on Win 7 SP1 with ATI 540v video card/driver.  Deleting bad driver file in adobe program data does not fix the problem,  it simply replaces the text file and crashes again.  My video driver is just fine.  Any help out there?

Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
    a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
    b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
    c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

  • Firefox keeps crashing.

    I have a Dell Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine.
Firefox keeps crashing. "Sorry. Firefox had to close. We'll try to restore your page." (Not exact message.)
I have screen shots of the details, which are always the same. The first two lines of the details are: AdapterDeviceID: 0x2e22
    AdapterVendorID: 0x8086
With the help of technicians I have tried the following fixes, none of which work:
    Checked my video drivers.
    Updated my Intel drivers.
Fiddled with the compatibility window. Tried Windows 7 and Windows XP. Checked and unchecked various items.
Clicked on Mozilla's "troubleshoot compatibility," which made some changes.
I am not computer-savvy. However, anyone who cares to respond can make your suggestions as technical as you need to; I'll share them with my technician.

    '''''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]''''' {web link}
    While you are in safe mode;
Press the '''<Alt>''' or '''<F10>''' key to bring up the tool bar.
    Followed by;
    Windows; '''Tools > Options'''
    Linux; '''Edit > Preferences'''
    Mac; ''application name'' '''> Preferences'''
    Then '''Advanced > General.'''
Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.

  • Photoshop CC stopped recognizing my video card.  Photoshop CC(64) still recognizes it properly. Video card driver is up to date.

ON or about January 15th my Photoshop CC (original) which I use because it works with many of my older filters was working properly. Several days later it refused to recognize my video card and my performance plummeted. ( It has the performance tab greyed out. )
It keeps popping up a message saying I am out of VRAM. Then when I try using filters like Liquify I get his message.
When I use Photoshop 64bit it correctly finds and uses my video card
How do I make Photoshop CC correctly find my video card?

First, try updating your video card driver from NVidia's website.

  • Photoshop keeps crashing since graphics card was changed

I have Photoshop CS6 and am using Windows 7.
Today I got my graphics card and RAM changed so that they were updated. Ever since this, photoshop crashes when I go to re-size something.
It hasn't yet crashed when I try to do something else.
I am assuming that the graphics card or RAM has something to do with this and it would be great if I could get some information on what to do.
Faulting application name: Photoshop.exe, version: 13.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f61beba
Faulting module name: atioglxx.dll, version: 6.14.10.12002, time stamp: 0x50d21fb6
    Exception code: 0xc0000005

    First install the Photoshop updates.
Then update your ATI video card driver that's crashing (from AMD/ATI's website!).

These are out-of-memory crashes where all available memory is used up.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

hello, unfortunately this seems to be a crash that is appearing in firefox 19 on windows 8 with AMD Radeon HD 6XXX/7XXX graphics cards - developers are investigating the causes of it...
the best option probably is to downgrade to the to the former version at the moment until this gets sorted out: [[Install an older version of Firefox]]
    ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/18.0.2/win32/
the auto-update in firefox 18 for the affected systems is now disabled and will be turned back on when a fix is available.
