Firefox keeps crashing, no idea why.

So I recently switched from Opera to Firefox because they had a horrible updated that stripped all the features I loved. Anyways, the first week or so after using firefox it worked fine and never crashed, now recently it crashes almost every 30 minutes or so. I get a crash report asking me if I want to restart. I have no idea why it keeps crashing and I have tried closing all my tabs (I usually have about 6-7 open at all times), but the problem is still there. If you need any information ask and I'll give it. Thanks!

Thats whats in the crash report after it crashes. I always check the submit to mozilla checkbox when it crashes but that doesn't help me solve it.

  • Eudora keeps crashing - any idea why

I just got new HD for MacBook running 10.6.3. The replacement HD from apple care for some reason was installed with 10.5.x so I did a restore by using carbon copy cloner via a good backup HD. I then ran diskwarrior to rebuild the HD, also disk utility with repair permissions.  Ever since my Eudora [yes I am one of the few still using this ] keeps on crashing after a few minutes.
Anyone have an idea as to why?  I tried deleting eudora and documents, then use time machine backup from mid june backup [as opposed to july backup just before replacing HD].  But after downloading all the emails/attachments, still keeps on crashing...
    Appreciate help with this.

Here's some points about eudora to keep in mind when trouble shooting it.  Since you said you restored from a (presumably) working backup you should not be having any problems but I'll mention this stuff anyhow.
One thing I recall about eudora when running on [snow] leopard was that it's "Getting Attention" preferences sounds should not be set to use eudora's own built in sounds.  So make sure you use some of your system sounds (or any you might have in your own ~/Library/Sounds folder).  Hopefully that will fix it.  If not try the following experiment.
As a control experiment temporarily rename your ~/Documents/Eudora Folder.  Do this while Eudora is not executing of course.
With the newly created Eudora folder and possibly Getting Attention sounds changes play around a little while to see if eudora is still crashing on you.  I would assume (hope) it would not.  That means something fouled up in your "real" Eudora Folder.  Get rid of the one created by the experiment and rename your original real eudora folder back as "Eudora Folder".  Now finding what's wrong in there is not going to be straight-forward.
Possible places that could break in the eudora folder are a mail box (in the Mail Folder), Eudora Settings (where all your preferences are kept), plugins in the Eudora Items, Eudora Filters, and Cache Folder. All you can do is replace each piece one by one until the crash goes away.

  • Why firefox keep crashing every 5 min on my android tablet?

why firefox keep crashing every 5 min on my android tablet?

What website you are you trying to visit? What is the brand and model of the device?

  • Why does firefox keep crashing? I ran a scan and there was no spyware or malware. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox. It doesn't happen in safe mode.

For some unknown reason firefox keeps crashing on my laptop computer. I mostly just use the internet for surfing and for emailing. It is very frustrating when I am trying to write an email and firefox crashes. I have unistalled and reinstalled firefox. I ran a McAfee scan on the computer and it has no problems with spyware or malware. It doesn't crash in safemode either. I am in safe mode now otherwise it would have crashed multiple times while getting to this page and typing this message.

If Firefox crashes frequently but stops crashing when you are in Safe Mode that is a pretty sure sign that there is something wrong with your individual setup of Firefox on your Windows 7 machine.
(The 99 others claiming to have the same problem this week probably have their own distinct and separate problems - if you are one of those 99 it may make sense to start your own questions about your problems, if you do not see suitable answers).
Many malware problems would continue even in Firefox's [[safe mode]], so the good news is that malware may not be your problem.
Note that safe mode does not disable plugins, you may wish to consider testing with your plugins disabled, just in case they are interacting with something. To temporarily disable plugins use
    * '''Firefox button -> Add-ons -> |Plugins|'''
You do not list the Firefox extensions that are in use, maybe one of them is a problem. I suggest you try Firefox with half of them disabled, if that solves the problem, the troublesome add-on may be in the other half, disable them all and then try with half of the other half enabled. (If you have more than a handful of add-ons it is faster testing like that than enabling or disabling one at a time)
One very important question is how do you know Firefox is crashing ? <br/>will you please explain exactly what happens, and what if any error messages you are seeing. (If firefox freezes/hangs that may be different from Firefox or the OS crashing, and require different solutions).
On a general note the following articles may help with troubleshooting:

  • Why does Firefox keep crashing with Mavericks?

I don't want any answers on this, but I would strongly suggest that people should not download Mavericks. I did so today, March 22, and since then Firefox keeps crashing or going into the spinning wheel mode. Once it actually shut down my domputer. Clearly Apple updates are becoming as worthless as windows updates.

I haven't had any issues with Firefox and Mavericks. The only issues I've had have been minor.
I suggest you test in a new User. This will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or if it's your User's folder that contains the problem.
    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching
Do you still see the issue?
If yes, then the problem is with your base files.
If no, then the problem is in your User's folder.
Download EtreCheck. It will display the important details of your system configuration and highlight old files you still might have around that will affect Mavericks. If you need help with the results, you can copy the results to the Clipboard. and paste on the fourm.

Without exiting window, choose "Thunderbird" from same list at the left. Click "Set this program as default"

  • Firefox keeps crashing all of a sudden

Never had this problem before but for some reason, firefox keeps crashing at random times when surfing the web
I was in the midst of downloading an incredibly large file when firefox crashed and ruined everything...
This has probably happened a total of 50 times in the past week and it's really driving me insane
    I tried reinstalling, didn't work
    Help?

    HI Blue,
Sometimes a good disk utility can keep browsers running as they should.
    Try Onyx for Leopard: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/onyx.html
Or, MacJanitor is good also: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/10491
    Tuning Mac OS X Performance
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/performance.html
And since Firefox crashed when downloading a large file, have you checked to see how much available drive space there is? Right or Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, click: Get Info. Where it says: General, click the black arrow so it faces down. You will see: Capacity and Available. Make sure your available disk space is never less then 10%, 15% is much better. You can't download large files if there isn't sufficient space on the disk.
It's a good idea to check the hard disk for errors at least once a month.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Insert your Mac OS X Install disc in your computer’s optical drive or an optical drive connected to your computer, and then restart your computer. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the progress indicator, which looks like a spinning gear.
Follow the onscreen instructions until the menu bar appears with the Utilities menu in it, choose Utilities > Disk Utility, click First Aid, and then click the Verify button. If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
Also, with Firefox open, from the Menu Bar, click: Tools/Click Private Data Clear Historty, SavedForm and Search History and Cache. That might help with Firefox also.
