Firefox keeps freezing, resulting in blue screen errors

Whenever I use Firefox, it runs just fine for about 10 minutes, then it stops responding, and doesn't work for 30 seconds to a minute. Sometimes when it does this, I go into Task Manager to shut down Firefox, and when it shuts down, my computer screen glitches up, then it instantly blue screens.
This problem started happening to me right when I updated from version 3.6 to 5.0 a few months ago, and now it does this on every version of Firefox I try using. Infact, version 3.6 doesn't work at all now, that version freezes the moment the browser opens, and sometimes blue screens as well.
Does anyone know why Firefox continuously freezes and give blue screen errors?
Also, the only extension I have running is Adblock Plus. The browser still freezes when I have Adblock disabled.

Wait so you are saying that if you update the BIOS prior to imaging, then you do not get the error? As part of practice, I always update the BIOS on a new system before imaging.
For removing drivers, you can use DISM after mounting your image.
DISM /IMAGE:c:\folder\mount /GET-DRIVERS
This will show you a list of drivers. If you have more drivers than the CMD console can show, you may want to send the output to the text file. Information format will show the original INF name, the version and the "new" file name as it exists
in the image. When removing a driver you need to specify this "new" name, for example oem53.inf.
Dism /Image:C:\test\offline /Remove-Driver /Driver:OEM53.infThen unmount /commit changes.See here for documentation.

After a few minutes online Firefox either freezes or I receive and error message that says...'unresponsive script' I have tried resetting Firefox several times and I've run a scan on my laptop. I even run a 'system restore. Nothing seems to help. Is anyone else having this same problem???? The only way I have been to correct this is to reboot shutdown and restart.

  • Satellite P20-771: Blue screen error message after OS reinstalling

    I have a laptop Satellite P20-771 / Pentium 4 3.40GHz (800/HTT) / XP Home/ 17' with nVidia Geo5700 driver.
As I had some problems with software, and I reinstalled everything using the provided CDs. Unfortunately the computer keeps malfunctioning giving me blue screen errors, that are due (this comes out when I sumbit the error to Microsoft) to device drivers. I updated everything (I hope) from the Toshiba page, but I am not an expert and I am worried that I missed something or that something has not been loaded in the right order or that the setting are incorrect.
Thank in advance for your help

    Hello
I have also P20 (red one) and have never had any problem after using provided recovery media. According to your posting there must be two possible reasons for blue screen:
    1. you have installed some additional software that causes bluescreen or
    2. there is some hardware component responsible for that (new memory module or maybe some external device connected to the unit)
Sorry but I dont see any other reason. On this way it is not easy to give precise answer and we can just speculate why this happen.

  • After adopting Firefox 19.0 as default browser, I experience numerous occurrences of Blue Screen errors with MS XP

Since I have installed Firefox 19.0 (first time installation and usage), my computer crashes several times a week: the Blue Screen Error comes up and I have to turn down my computer.
I've run all recommended system and disk checks. I also have Norton as anti-virus.
To my knowledge, Firefox is the only major modification I've made on my computer before the default started to occur.
It seems that other users have encountered similar problems with version 18 and reverting to version 17 (which I cannot do) seems to have solved their issues.
Occurences of Blue screen: when using Firefox, or while screen saver on, or etc.
Have you got reported issues of compatibility between Firefox 19 and MS XP when IE was the former internet browser?
What steps do you suggest I make?

Blue screens can't be caused by Firefox, it is what is called a userspace program, which means it can't access the kernalspace, which is what causes bluescreens. There may be something else wrong with your computer:
    Check for Windows updates
Scan for malware [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]
    Run chkdsk
    etc.

  • Firefox keeps freezing with new tab even in safe mode

Firefox keeps freezing, so there's no chance of even a crash report, I can only get out via TaskManager/End process. I usually have dict and thesaurus open while writing, usually with second tab my browser is a still.
It's very annoying as it's also stuck on my screen for a while so I can't continue to work.
I really need that to work or I have to switch to a different browser!
    Thank you.

  • BLUE SCREEN ERROR!!! - Stop: 0x00000124 (0x00000003 0x00000000 0x000000000 0x00000000)

    hi,
When i restart my Windows 2008 R2 server, suddenly a blue screen appeared. In the screen the message was like,
System malfunction call your hardware vendor for support. After getting this message i gave a force restart but while booting
i got another blue screen error in which i got the below error code
Stop: 0x00000124 (0x00000003,0x00000000,0x000000000,0x00000000) and after dumping physical memory(100%) the system is keep on restarting as it happened before with blue screen.
In the server machine LCD display i am getting another error message like,
    E1716 Chipset IERR. Bus 0 Dev 20. Function 2 . Review &. clear SEL.
Can anyone help me to understand the actual problem and how come i can resolve this?...

This from the Dell web site.
The system BIOS has reported a chipset internal error that resides in bus ##, device ##, function ##.
Check the SEL for more information, and then clear the SEL. Remove AC power to the system for 10 seconds, and restart the system (SEL = System Event Logs)
So I probably contact the hardware vendor.

  • Blue Screen error using Boot Camp when installing XP on the MacBook Pro

I have been trying to install Windows XP Professional (with SP2) on my MacBook and I keep encountering blue screen errors during the install. I successfully create the Windows partition with Boot Camp (v2.0) and then Windows install begins. However, during the setup process it hangs and then eventually throws an error showing a blue screen. There has been a different error each time I've tried to install. I've booted in OSX and then deleted the Windows partition through Boot Camp and then attempted the process from the beginning five separate times and each time I get an error during the initial install phase.
Its not a matter of the installation CD because i borrowed 3 differnt copies from some friends and i still have the same issues.
Once, I managed to actually start windows XP however it was full of errors probably as parts of it weren't properly installed due to the the blue screens that made me reboot several times.
Am I the only one having this problem??
Is this a matter of the hardware? Can you think of any possible solution?
(I used NTFS did everything propperly I'm 100% sure)(I tried FAT as well)(still nothing)
    PLEASE HELP

Can you read and write from your optical drive? I would have it checked by burning something to it and seeing if it can be read.

  • Hp pavillion a1324n - blue screen error

After an extended shut off period (say overnight), when I start up my desktop it goes through the process and starts up fine but within a minute it shuts off and either it restarts and and then works fine for the rest of the day (even if I shut it off and turn it on several times) or it goes to a blue screen error and I have to restart it manually with the power button and then it restarts and works fine after it is restarted.  However, the next time I shut it off and leave it off for a long period of time, it then goes through this blue screen or restart process?  Please help me with suggestions as to what may be causing this issue and how it may be fixed.  Thanks.

You've got an older PC so clean out the dust bunnies inside... just to be sure.
HP released a BIOS update that address lock ups and freezes... might be related to the problem. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-51922-1

You got bugcheck 0xa - "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".  A kernel mode component tried to read from address 0 at an inappropriate time.
Can you upload the contents of c:\windows\minidump to your SkyDrive and
    provide a link?
For dealing with Blue Screens, general guidance follows:
Consider running chkdsk on all partitions.  Let chkdsk complete on each partition and see if that helps.
    Also consider running SFC /SCANNOW.
If you boot into safe mode, do you still experience bugchecks? What about if you do a clean
    boot, or device
    clean boot?
For memory corruption cases such as you seem to be experiencing, it can be helpful to use Driver Verifier.  To enable Driver Verifier... start->verifier.exe->OK->Create standard settings- >Next->select driver names from a list->Next->sort
by Provider->select all non-Microsoft drivers->Finish, and OK your way out  of the dialog.
Then, reboot and use the system as you normally would, and wait for a problem.  In the event that the system does not boot  completely after enabling driver verifier, boot into Safe Mode and run driver verifier, and tell it to delete the
    changes.
Wait for a bugcheck to occur after enabling verifier as described, and then upload it to your SkyDrive,
    and provide a link.
Consider testing memory with Windows Memory Diagnostic or memtest86. Note that memory that passes tests is not necessarily  good memory - it just hasn't failed a test.  Consider systematically eliminating RAM from the system - run with
a couple of  modules for a while, and see how things go. Then try the other modules.
Other common suggestions include ensuring drivers are up to date (including video drivers), as well as ensuring that you're  using the latest BIOS.

    P.S sorry for my english

    Hi sebastian24,
Welcome to the HP Forums! You mentioned the Caps Lock keys stays on, does it flash at all? If so how many flashes in the pattern? This will help us determine the cause of the errors. These blue screens are commonly referred to as a Blue Screen of Death and can be quite difficult to fix. If you just purchased it you should still be in warranty, I recommend that you call HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or visit the link below if you are outside North America.

    Hello pleurisy,
Your system is getting an error when trying to play a game.
This might be caused by the system getting too hot.
    Do a hard reset.
    Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.

I have a hp pavillion g7 notebook computer which keeps getting a bsod crash each time internet graphics are accessed.  i have researched the error code and it seems to be a graphics driver issue.  I downloaded a new version of the amd graphics driver from the hp website support and i tried to restore the computer to a previous point in time when the bsod was not occuring.  All to no avail.  the webpage graphics are not able to be displayed and the blue screen error keeps returning.  In the device manager section of the computer, none of the icons are showing issues and i can't figure out what could be causing the problem.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  thanks

I see that you are suffering from a BSOD. Can you provided more information on the error message that you are getting? Have you tried a different browser to see if the same error occurs. What is your product number? What operating system are you using?

  • BLUE SCREEN ERROR FOR A BRAND NEW DELL STUDIO

    Hi There,
I Just bought a brand new Dell Studio laptop from Best Buy and the first login.. was trying to register my Mcfee AV on it and started dumping the physical memory with blue scree.. So sad.
I had Win7 on it. What could be the issue? Can someone help here?
I have another thing to know, I want to replace this one with a diff. Studio laptop which is available in best buy, I want to avoid the 15% restocking fee. The one I am thinking to replace it with is of light brown color in the Dell laptop link on best buy site on page 2 and this one is a bit costlier than the one I am using it.... Can I replace this one without any restocking non-sense as the current one keeps throwing with blue screen error. Although it doesnt happen everytime i use it but it does come up with blue screen every now and then...
Any suggestion would be appreciated. The Laptop which I currently have is not listed in the Best Buy site now, was there till last week. Dell Studio, i3 processor with 500GB HD & 4 GB RAM.
    Thanks,
    -Rj

You're over thinking this! If you're getting an error of this type and you didn't do anything to the machine besides install McAfee, then bring it to your nearest BestBuy to have Geeksquad look at it or have it returned. You're within the 30 days, right?
There is no restocking fee for defective items. I'm not sure if yours is defective, but speak to the store, I'm sure you will be pleased. Point is, do it now, before more time passes.
