Firefox keeps opening a YouTube tab over and over

I have two separate PCs that run the latest version of Firefox.
The homepage on both is the same...www.centurylink.net
When Firefox has been opened for a couple minutes it adds a tab of a YouTube page of a McDonalds Super Bowl commercial. As time goes by it opens more and more tabs of the same thing.
I have done the following...
Scan and remove malware...None found
Ran CCleaner
Removed Cookies and Extensions
Reinstall Firefox.
This does NOT happen with Internet Explorer.
It has me stumped.

OS is winxp and firefox 3.6.8. This has been fine for a number of months. When closing FF it asks to save tabs and settings and I ok it. But it keeps opeing the same tabs from a week ago.

A couple of things to check.
Check to see if Firefox is set to open to your home page, if so have the sites that open been set as the home page. Those settings are on the [[Options window - General panel]].
Another possible cause is the file that stores details of sessions may be corrupt. You can delete the files that have details of sessions to see if that helps. Firstly you need to access your profile folder, for details of how to do that see the [[profiles]] article. Once you are in your profile folder, close Firefox and delete ''sessionstore.js'' and ''sessionstore.bak'' (the second file may not exist)

Why does Firefox keep opening 3 random tabs while browsing different websites?

Just to clarify: They are never spam websites. They may be 3 of the same website, but it is always random. I only browse safe websites. This usually happens while Stumbling (StumbleUpon).
For example:
StumbleUpon brought me to this website:

I have Windows Vista Home Basics 32-bit. And is running Firefox 8.0. (This problem existed in 7.0 and previous as well.

I've already done this, and it says nothing is wrong with my system.

You installed a variant of the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
This malware has many variants. Anyone else finding this comment should not expect it to be applicable.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." When I want to mail a web-page or link firefox keeps opening new windows and cannot be stopped.

My laptop is a Samsung R730 (quite happy with it). I use Eudora for e-mailing. If I want to mail a web-page or link and click under 'file'to send it, Firefox starts opening new tabs without stopping up to over a hundred. I have to brutally switch off my lap-top, start agaiu. Restart Firefox which wants to open all the old tabs, click it off quickly. After that I can reopen to normal.

When clicking on a pdf file it does not open and then it opens hundreds of tabs. The only way to stop it is to shut off the computer.

You probably have an incorrect action type set for pdf files, it will be set to "use Firefox" rather than using a pdf application such as Adobe Reader. How can I stop firefox from opening hundreds of tabs when I click on an embedded email link?

Every time I forget and click on an embedded email link, firefox tries to open multiple tabs(sometimes hundreds). I can't shut down firefox when this happens, I can't do anything else. I have to manually shut down the computer and reboot.

Check to make sure that mailto has not been set to open Firefox.
To do that open the Preferences dialog by selecting "Firefox > Preferences". In the Preferences dialog go to the Applications panel. In the "Content Type" column locate mailto, and make sure the Action column is not set to "Use Firefox" This procedure is explained in more depth in the [[Managing file types]] article.

You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window. 
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type. 
You can delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset all actions or set the offending action in Tools > Options > Applications to 'Always Ask'

Browser keeps opening with previous tabs from day before. How do I stop this?

Under Tools>Options>General I have the browser set when I open the browser to "open up a blank page" but it keeps opening up previous tabs from the day before. How can I stop this? You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

Works fine for me, I can simulate your problem by improperly closing Firefox.
The correct way would be to close the windows you don't want and then to exit Firefox through the File ("'''Alt+F'''") menu then use '''Exit''' or '''Qui'''t depending on your system.

You restart Firefox and open a window, since you closed without app-tabs there are none so you just see a window with your home page.

Firefox keeps opening things in new windows

Every time I click to open something in a new tab, it opens in a new window instead. I checked to see if I'd accidentally changed my options to make things open in new windows instead of tabs, but I hadn't. Also, every time I start Firefox, three windows pop up instead of just one. They seem like little things, but it's really irritating.

You might also want to try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. Firefox keeps reopening my old tabs every time i exit and return. this is an annoying feature for me and i would love if someone could help me resolve the issue. I just want Firefox to open at my home page when i launch the program

TOOLS then OPTIONS then in GENERAL TAB at Start up in session WHEN FIREFOX STARTS put SHOW MY HOME PAGE and put your home page in HOME PAGE session down this one. Dont forget to click OK to save changes.

Firefox keeps opening window after window on it's own

Very often, when I try to run my firefox to explore various websites, it will suddenly start jumping to a different site. If I hit the back button, it goes back to where I was, and immediately jumps forward again. If I close the browser, a new one opens up...sometimes three or four windows at a time. I am currently using a Windows 7 machine, but it also occurred on my Windows XP computer. This has happened on 2 machines, both connected and disconnected from my wireless network, and with differing softwares loaded on each. Therefore, I firmly believe it must be something wrong with the software itself.
