the older version of fire fox is better than the 4 th one i hate it it keeps saying not responding i am sick of it also facebook is rubbish with it i can not play farmville :-(all

I don't like Firefox 4 and want to go back too. Too many changes I don't want.

• My firefox keeps sayin Not Responding and frezzes on me every 5-15 mintues

I have windows7 and my Firefox keeps freezing and saying Not Responding and is out for a minute or two, it does this frequently (5-15 mins), and i dont get any crazh reports and it doesnt close the window on me..

I have 4 computers in my home office and I also have a laptop. Firefox hangs on all 4 of these computers under windows, and on my laptop, and even under linux. Flash simply doesn't work on Firefox. This has been true on all operating systems from windows XP to windows 7. I haven't tried windows 8, but I'd be surprised if it works there. It performs poorly on ubuntu 12.04 as well.
I usually see the hanging behavior within about 10 minutes of starting firefox. Visiting utube or other flash heavy sites exacerbates the problem.
I am always astonished when mozilla claims that it's only a small minority of users who see the hanging behavior. I have never seen firefox be stable since they went to the rapid update cycle. For this reason I now exclusively use chrome, even though chrome's UI is pathetic, and I hate chrome actually.
Unfortunately Firefox is unusable. If Firefox were so bug free, then why has it's market share plummeted over the last couple of years? Frankly they need to fix the bugs for all platforms prior to another useless update. Fast light and robust would bring back the fanbase.
Here is a little you tube video that causes an instant hang for me.

Hey Sandy and Skip,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with mail on your iPhone. I also understand you have already attempted some great troubleshooting steps. The following resource provides additional information for troubleshooting these symptoms. If you have not already done so, I would recommend the last step; deleting and re-adding the affected account:
iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899
Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
1. Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.
              - Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
                        1. Try a different Wi-Fi connection
                        2. If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fiand turn off Wi-Fi.
                        3. If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
2. Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
3. Restart your iOS device.
4. Delete the affected email account from your device.
              - Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
              - Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
              - Add your account again.
* If you are only able to use your email account while connected to your home network, this may be a limitation put in place by your email service provider. For further support, please contact your email service provider directly.
Thanks,
Matt M.

Things have taken a turn for the worse! My system won't even boot up at now. I just get a grey screen with the apple logo. If I try restarting with the option key, it beeps and the fans whirl. I phoned an Apple servicer and they said sounds like a new hard disc is needed.
Can you not even start up from your Tiger Install DVD? If so, try running Disk Utilities from the Utilities menu, click on "First Aid", select your boot volume, and then "Repair Disk" If it fixes anything, run it again until it says "The volume … appears to be OK".
Note you should not use your 10.3 Install disk to fix a 10.4 system.
Alternatively, if you can boot into Single User Mode, you could us fsck to attempt a repair of your disk:
Using Disk Utility and fsck to resolve startup issues or perform disk maintenance.
I can't believe my misfortune just from upgrading a couple of softwares, especially after I tried so hard to avoid having to upgrade, and then did my due diligence to unsure compatibility. DO I have any recourse to either of the resellers of the upgrades?
I doubt it (but of course I don't know any US lawyers )

• Why does my Firefox keep saying "not connecting"?

Hi,
I have Firefox for my Windows Vista (I believe the version is 20. I don't know precisely and don't know how to find it) and have had problems since last night. After I was up and running smoothly for about ten minutes, there was a message in the upper left hand corner of Firefox that said "not connecting" (or something along those lines). In the past, this would happen and I'd click "CTRL/ALT/DELETE" to close it out, reopen and everything would run fine. Now when I use those three keys, the computer eventually freezes. I contacted Geek Squad for assistance and the lady there claimed you all have had problems in the past couple weeks. Maybe I finally caught up with those problems (as this just happened last night and it's been happening all today)? Anyways, I'd like this resolved quickly. On my first call to Geek Squad, he advised me first to check for Windows updates and install them (there was one recommended to install and three optional ones. When I clicked to install the recommended one, it again froze with the "not connecting" message or whatever it says). Let me know how I can proceed on this issue. Thank you.

Hello,
Please update to the latest version of Firefox by going to getfirefox.com and then if that doesn't help, please try safe mode as outlined below:
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Hi i would like to know when i am using Mozzilla it keeps saying (not responding ) and freezes up then starts to work again only to continue doing the same thing over and over ...

this has been happening now for a couple of days just freezes and stops then starts again when i close it down comes back with an OOPS PROBLEM AND TO RESTORE OR START A NEW SESSION SCREEN

Hi stuey1153
I would try two things first clear your cache. How to clear the cache
Then if that doesn't help start in the Safe Mode , an easy way to start safe mode is close Firefox then press shift while clicking the Firefox icon it will open in the safe mode.

• When I open Firefox, it goes to the first page and then stops, saying "Not Responding" with the cursor spinning. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help

When I open Firefox, it goes to the first page I open, but then stops and says "Not Responding" with the mouse cursor spinning. I hit the close button and it says Windows is searching for a solution (which doesn't come).
When I open Firefox again, it says:
Well, this is embarrassing.
Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
You can try:
Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
Starting an entirely new browsing session
Any ideas? I gretly appreciate any help. Thanks!!

What is that first page?
Can't you open any web pages in Firefox?
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• Firefox will not load; It said it was updating and now it just says not responding

Firefox said it was updating, since the updates,it will no longer run, it just says not responding; I have windows XP. I have Uninstalled and re-installed., I bought the PC health Advisor, nothing works.Nonresponding, it will not load.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== it updated ==
== User Agent ==
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; Comcast Install 1.0; GTB0.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

You could try the new Reset feature. This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.
More information in this article: Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems.
If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back to your current folder, if you like, using Firefox's Profile Manager. (See Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles -- don't delete anything just yet; use this dialog to switch back and forth as needed.)
Does it work better after a reset?

Sounds like a "hang at exit" problem. There are several possible causes for that error. See:
* How to stop the running Firefox process
** In Task Manager, does firefox.exe show in the <u>Processes</u> tab?
** See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Kill_application

** https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+is+already+running+but+is+not+responding
* You may need to try Firefox Safe Mode
** You may need to use Safe Mode to locate the problem: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
**Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes <u>before</u> starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
** If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling <u>one at a time</u> until the problem reappears. <u>You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change</u> via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.

• Firefox 4.0b10 will randomly lock up and say (Not Responding) in the title bar, and sometimes takes 1min to become usable again.

Most of the time when I launch Firefox 4.0b10 it will hang for 30sec-1min before loading. It will show a white page and say (Not Responding) in the title bar.
It also does this when opening a new tab, clicking any link, and sometimes scrolling down a page.
Thread locked as a duplicate of questions/780167

My McCaffee was a trial thing, I think. I clicked on it to see if it was updated, and it said it was expired. So I'm just going to uninstall it completely and install AdAware, which is all I've ever used for years and never had a problem.
It occurs to me -- this must (?) have something to do with my new computer... it was slow right out of the box, and I called ASUS tech support the second day I had the puter up and running, and the tech asked me to do a System File Check (SFC), but discovered that the normal pathways through which one would do a SFC (according to him) did not work - the machine would not either recognize them or it would simply swallow the command and then just do nothing... he put me on hold for a few minutes. He came back with a workaround (don't remember it exactly, but it involved a DOS prompt), and I was able to finally run a SFC, which revealed "corrupted files" that had to be "repaired."
In a brand new computer? That can't be a good thing... Maybe the system software factory install was just a bad install? Because I had some slow Firefox issues on my old machine (Acer, dual core, 4gRAM, 2009 machine), but NOTHING like this. This is getting very frustrating. I'm used to just sitting down to my computer and using it, not sitting down and fighting with it for 2 or 3 minutes or more before i can do anything.

• When i browse to a webpage firefox freezes then (not responding)

I turn on firefox and everythign seems alright, but once i click on the URL blank and type something in when it tries to load the page, it hangs, freezes, then eventually says "Not Responding" and at that point i have to End the process. Thanks!
