Firefox keeps telling me to update. Repeatedly.

I've downloaded Firefox update MANY times. Deleted, re-started, the works. Yet everytime I open the browser it tells me i need to update. Driving me CRAZY.

I have been doing that too. Would like to see any advice on that. I am temporarily avoiding FF29 until I figure out how to customize it the way it used to work; my workflow is significantly slowed in adjusting to the new layout that is forced on me. So that means deleting the update in the profiles folder each time I start FF, as it says it will apply the update the next time I restart the program. Thinking of trying Pale Moon.

I do not understand what more information you require. I have downloaded Firefox 4 four times, but Firefox keeps telling me that I am using an outdated Firefox!

  • Running 10.4.11 I can not find the outdated plugins that Firefox keeps telling me I need. Apple Software Update doesn't help with this

I'm running 10.4.11 and am unable to find the plugin updates that Firefox keeps telling me I need on an annoying little popup window that keeps coming up whenever I download a page using Firefox. The pluin updates I need are for Quicktime, Java  to name a few. Is Apple not supplying any more plugin update because I'm using an old version of Mac OSX? The firefox plugin page tells me that Apple supppies their own plugins but I don't see any when I use Apple Software Update. Any suggestions?

Do what others do and get TenFourFox - the equivalent of the latest Firefox but built especially for PPC: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
    To enable plug-ins:
Put about:config in TenFourFox's address bar and hit return
Put tenfourfox.plugins in the search box and hit return
Click tenfourfox.plugins.enabled to set it to true
    Restart TenFourFox
TenFourFox will now use the Safari Flash plug-in

  • I have the latest edition of the Flash player and it works fine with IE but Firefox keeps telling me I can play things because I dont have it

Since I updated Firefox I cant play anything that requires Flash player. I have the up to date player and it works perfectly with IE but Firefox keeps telling me I need another plug in and when I follow the instructions it says 'download failed try manual download' but even that fails too.
Before I updated Firefox I had no issues, can you help
    Alan.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:
*an '''ActiveX version''' for IE only
*a '''Plugin version''' for most other browsers including Firefox
*On a Windows system, you should always update both individually.
'''''You do not appear to have the Plugin version for Firefox installed. ''''' If you did, in Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash ''(version)''". If "Shockwave Flash" is there and is disabled, click the "Enable" button.
Check your Plugins often --> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
*only the most popular/used Plugins are known by this page
*page will detect only installed, '''''enabled''''' Plugins
    '''<u>Install or update Adobe Flash</u>'''<br />
#'''<u>Using Firefox</u>''', go to the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop so you can find it later. Un-check any items on that page that you do not want to download (i.e., "McAfee Security Scan Plus":
#When the download is finished, close Firefox (File > Exit '''''OR''''' Firefox button > Exit)
#Click or double-click on the file you just saved to your desktop
#*In the installation window that appears, click the box to the left of "I have read and...." to place a check mark in the box
#*The "Install" button in the lower right corner will now be highlighted, click it.
    #*The installation is quick.
#Start Firefox and test your installation here: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
#To update/install the ActiveX version for IE '''''only''''', repeat the process, '''<u>but use IE to go to the above website</u>'''.

  • I've completed the new security download routine 3 times, and Firefox keeps telling me I need to download again.

I've downloaded the new security patch 3 times in the last couple of weeks, put it in my applications and from there onto the dashboard, and Firefox keeps telling me that I need to download it again. This is crazy... Firefox can't recognize it's own application???

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • I've tried plugging my iPhone in the computer multiple times and it keeps telling me to update iTunes after I already have. What am I doing wrong?

So I just got an iPhone 4s and it won't allow me to sync it on my computer. ITunes keeps telling me to update to at least version 11.1 and I have done that. Even though i've updated it still won't allow me to sync. If someone knows what i'm doing wrong and could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Try reinstalling iTunes no music or apps will be lost.

Even though updated to 4 successfully Firefox keeps asking me to update to 4. Why?

Before going further try to confirm what version of Firefox you do have.
What do you see looking at ''about firefox'' from the help menu ? <br/> I ask because your ''System Details'' are showing Firefox 3.6.17 not the current version Firefox 4.0.1.
If you turn off the option to display the menu toolbar do you see the firefox button in the top left and do you get an option to use [why are tabs on top?|tabs on top], both are features of Firefox 4.

  • E52 / World Traveller / Keeps telling me to update...

    Hi forum.
Just got my E52, and I'd like to have a look at the "World Traveller".  But every time I start it it tells me to update.  So I have updated, I think...  But it keeps telling me to update, and will not start.
I've seen many discussion of how to remove/disable this application, but nothing about this looping update.
Any soultions out there?  Or is this application **bleep**?
Any other similar application I can use?

Hey Scott. I'm having the same problem too.
I tired resetting my TC and that was a bad idea as it's internet IP settings are gone and there is no way to get back into the TC to configure it. Luckily i have an Airport Extreme to use as backup.
I already have version 5.4.1 of the Airport utility, but it is not letting me access my AE or TC, both are version 7.3.2 and i can't get them to update to 7.4.1.
Everytime i try to change the config settings, error 6728 comes up...

  • Firefox keeps crashing after Lollipop update on HTC One M8. Won't even open!

After updating my firmware/software to the new Lollipop OS, Firefox keeps crashing. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling directly from the Googe Play Store and still nothing. When I click the Firefox icon the browser opens and then I immediately get a "We're Sorry, Firefox has crashed" notification. How can this be remedied? I've downloaded Dolphin Browser and might just not come back to Mozilla unfortunately if this continues...

i would suggest the following steps:
    1. goto application manager, find firefox, press all available button to clear everything.
if it doesn't work, proceed with:
    2. uninstall firefox
    3. turn off the phone, boot into recovery mode and wipe the cache (this is NOT hard reset and you will not lose your stuff).
    4. reboot and reinstall firefox
    hope it helps!

  • Pages keeps telling me to update

I'm trying to open a Pages file for work. It was telling me to update, so I updated. Still keeps telling me I have to get the newer version but I have it. I can't load the file still.

If you're double clicking on the document, it might still be opening with the previous version of Pages on your computer.
    Try these steps:
Right click on the document and select Get Info.
There will be a section titled "Open With."  Make sure Pages 5.0 is selected here:
Once it is listed there, click on the Change All button right below the drop down so all Pages documents will open with the new Pages when you double click on them.
You can also open Pages from your Applications folder, but look for Pages with this icon:
Once you have Pages open, you can go to File>Open and locate the document.

  • How can I stop Firefox from telling me to update?

I keep getting popups to update to Firefox 3.6.18 for mac os x. The problem is that the newer version will not open when I try to preview a web page through Dreamweaver. Firefox didn't always have this problem. The last version of Firefox to work properly was 3.5.16 which I am still using only because it works. How can I stop the Firefox update popups because since Firefox seems to have no intention of addressing or fixing the Dreamweaver problem, I have no intention of upgrading.

    You're welcome.
