Firefox keeps trying to update me to 4.0.1 even though I have already updated it.

According to the Help menu, I have Firefox 4.0.1 installed, but I get at least one notice a day that I need to update to 4.0.1
I believe Firefox was doing the same thing with version 3.6, but I can't remember what the fix was, and couldn't find the answer by searching the forum.
OS: Windows XP sp3

If you did an A&I, did you transfer things from the Previous System folder and then delete it? If not, try doing that.

My Firefox keeps crashing with a message "This Connection is Untrusted" even though I have reinstalled the product.

I am not entirely sure why this has been happening but I have tried to solve this issue for a while now. I am unable to log in into my email because the message "The Connection is Untrusted" does not allow me to add an exception. This has been happening to a variety of Websites, however, for some of them I was able to add an exception. More importantly (i wish i was able to include screenshots), the view of for instance this window or Facebook is altered and showed without images but only with blue-regular words. Re-installation of this program as well reset throughout Troubleshooting seems not to work nor does the update of the Adobe Flash Player. I have never had any problems with a great product such as Firefox but all of the sudden I am lost. I would appreciate any help from you guys because I would like to keep using this product.

It shouldn't be necessary to add an exception.
Make sure that the date and time are correct on your computer.
If a web page is opened in a (i)frame then you can't set an exception. 
You can try to open page in the frame in a new tab via the right-click context menu.
Check out why the site is untrusted (see the Technical details) and if this is caused by a missing intermediate certificate then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
Try to rename the cert8.db file in the Firefox profile folder to cert8.db.old or delete the cert8.db file to remove intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file. 
Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previous intermediate certificates. 
Firefox will automatically store intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send such a certificate.
If that didn't help then remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) as well.

Firefox 4 doesn't allow me to scroll the page even though I have autoscrolling and smooth scrolling ticked in Tools Options Advanced:General. Can this be fixed?

After updating Firefox to Firefox 4 I cannot use my page scrolling in the browser. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad and use my Trackerpoint for scrolling. All other applications work fine with the Trackerpoint. Can someone fix this or tell me what I need to do to enable scrolling?

Firefox will suddenly not open when I click the icon, even though I have used Firefox on this computer for several months with no issues.

I am not sure why your Firefox stopped working all of a sudden. I would recommend uninstalling and then re-installing Firefox.
1) Get new download: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
2) Uninstall your current Firefox version.
3) Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
4) It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

What can I do to rectify the situation in which Firefox will not open pdf files in the browser, even though I have already used all the help suggestions to no avail?

I have tried everything Mozilla has suggested. Still when I click on a pdf, I get the message that the browser cannot open a pdf. I have gone through the help protocol, and it does not work.
I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it, and still not able to open pdf files within the browser.
What else do I do, except go to IE or Chrome and just leave Firefox completely???

A possible cause is the presence of a PDF plugin from an older Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

Ahhhhhhh I am go glad I am not the only one having this problem!! It started 2 weeks ago when I changed my Apple ID because it used to be my college email address (which is about to expire because I graduated) and I had to change my ID to another email address. When I did that, the whole "Cannot connect to itunes store" issue started whenever I try to update my apps either on my iphone (Update All) OR on my PC in itunes.

I keep getting "Sign in to FaceTime" on my iPad, even though I have never used it.

I keep getting a box to Sign in to FT using my OLD email address. It asks for my password, which I can no longer remember because I changed it over a year ago. I am unable to access anything on my iPad because this box continues to appear. I hit Cancel but the notice comes right back. I have rebooted the iPad at least 6 times. Nothing has worked. HELP!!!

If you don't use FT, go to Settings>Facetime and turn Off FT.
While you are there, check the "You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At" and see if your old email address is listed. Uncheck or delete it.
Also, try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

When I set up a meeting on my computer in Yahoo calendar, and I check it on my phone it shows the correct time, but the time zone comes up etc/GMT. Sometimes the computer is running app(s) that mean that the computer stays awake. If you close all applications it will work, so the best thing may be to open each one on its own in turn to see which on is keeping your MacBook awake.

My 3.6.14 keeps trying to update and gives this error message:"The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again."

My OS is Windows XP version service pack 3. I even tried to install FF4 but it never get installed. Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator). 
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

hello, this is a scam tactic that is trying to trick you into installing malware, so don't download or execute this kind of stuff - updates are handled automatically by firefox so you don't have to download anything (you can always initiate a manual check for updates in ''firefox > help > about firefox'').
you might also want to run a full scan of your system with the security software already in place and different tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan] in order to make sure that there isn't already some sort of malware active on your system that triggers these false alerts.

you could also help by pressing F10 & going to ''help > report web forgery'' while you're on this dubious page - this might get the page into the list of malicious sites that get blocked in firefox (the actual list is maintained by google) or when such pages use the firefox logos or trademarks to trick users into downloading malware you could also file it at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/.

It keeps trying to update Firefox altough it just continually sits on download and never actually finishes and I keep having to shut it down each time??? why could this be?

Thank you for your suggestion. I downloaded and ran all 3 of the scans from Malwarebytes; and although it did find and I did delete items from my computer, (so it was still helpful) it did not fix the problem I'm having with Flash.
I have run malware, spyware and anti-virus scans. I've cleared my cache's and checked for anything in my programs as well as checked my Applications list in Firefox.
I'm completely at a loss for what to do!
