Firefox loading/crashes/window Problems

So i only started having problems since FireFox 4 came out. When i first got that my firefox would flip out and close randomly. When i would try to reopen it, it would say a file was missing, so i would uninstall and reinstall, again it would work for abit then close then say a file was missing (also didnt care for the settings of firefox 4 either :\ ) So i decided id go back to firefox 3 for now til maybe some bugs were fixed in 4. Ive never had a problem with it before, and for last few days havent had any problems either. Today though firefox would refuse to open a new window. It would freeze if a page had a link to a new window and i would have to use windows manager to shut it down. If i would try right clicking on the firefox icon and click open new window it opens up my files window o.O It opens up Computer/Acer(C:)/Windows/system32 This has lots of files and stuff in it, non of which i know are involved with Mozilla. Ive been trying to be patient and reinstall, redownload, search forums, for anything to help fix this. Bit its not like i know exactly what it is. Im finding myself using Enternet Explorer lately (blah cant get use to it xD i misses firefox after 5 mins). Hope someone can help me, ill leave some computer information incase its my fault :\
Note: Main reason i dislike 4 atm is because it doesnt like alot of my programs especially my virus program Norton which i like seeing it scan pages before i go to them and now it doesnt do that with 4.
Acer Computer
Windows 7
Updates all plugins (incase that was problem)
I dont have a firefox account till now since i made one to post. Will proly try that, but id still like to know why this happens without an account profile
Thank you again and hope to hear back something soon :)

I have the same problem. I've never been able to identify when it started. Once firefox crashes, mpd, if it was playing, becomes unresponsive. The only way to get a flash site working again is to reboot my computer.
I uninstalled flash: I'm not going to put up with that kind of behaviour. Now I watch youtube videos on other people's computers --you know how they say "You've GOT to see this movie!". And if I really need to see that one specific video, there's youtube-dl.
Unfortunately gnash doesn't work on youtube for me.

    Hi,

I think it may be related to viewing http://www.jasonbondpicks.com/chat/ which I believe uses flash. I have Shockwave Flash 14.0.0.145 installed which is the latest version.
    Thank you for your assistance.

Two of the crash IDs were automatically "linkified" in your post and both are, as you suspected, problems in the Flash plugin.
This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash Player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
    (1) If you have any recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media make sure they are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them temporarily.
    (2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Flash
See this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable the protected mode feature
You can disable that by creating or editing a settings file. The following pages/posts provide different ways to do that:
    * Adobe support article under the heading "Last Resort": [http://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround Adobe Forums: How do I troubleshoot Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?]
    * Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209
    * Batch file to automate the manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093#answer-518078
Flash needs to completely unload from memory (exiting and starting Firefox up again might help) before this takes effect.

    Hi!
It sounds like you're having trouble with Firefox for Desktop. I'd recommend contacting the Firefox for Desktop support forum here: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop] ; they'll be more knowledgeable and better able to answer your questions than the volunteers here at the Firefox OS forum.
    I hope that helps you!

  • In a new tab firefox loads recent windows for a few seconds before going to homepage

When I open a new tab, for a couple of miliseconds before going to my homepage, i can see various sites i recently visited in a table-list like a recent visits table. Am i being tracked by something? Did I catch a trojan ? I am also running no-script add-on on my Mozilla for extra protection. It's not disturbing my browsing experience but I do not wish to be tracked in that way. For example, when I tried loading it today, I could see photos of friends I saw on facebook, and info about an e-bay purchase i wanted to make.

That is probably the about:newtab page that you see.

  • I'm getting popup notices that Firefox has a problem, and Windows is looking for a solution; then it closes Firefox and says Windows will let me know if it finds a solution. No crash report window comes up.

Firefox is my default browser on my new laptop, with OS Windows 7. I've now had several instances where a Windows popup comes up saying Firefox has developed a problem and may have to close. It also indicates Windows "is looking for a solution to the problem." No solution is found, however, and Firefox is forced to close, with the happy notice that Windows will let me know if it finds a solution to the problem. If there is any tech data on the crash, I'm not sure where to find it, and no Firefox crash report window comes up. I thought it was an anomaly the first time, but this has now occurred at least 4 times in the past several days.

    Help

A "BEX" error often indicates there is a malware process trying to inject itself into Firefox in an inappropriate way, so Windows shuts it down to protect you.
When I search for information on nsib.dll, it's inconclusive. For example: [https://www.virustotal.com/en-gb/file/7739cad2495359a139ef31062f54d683ce549bc4d7cca13f8d1cdaca86b3474d/analysis/ VirusTotal analysis].
Assuming it is a bad add-on, I suggest starting here:
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
You can "mop up" remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools suggested in this support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
Finally, start Firefox in its Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key when double-clicking the Firefox shortcut/icon. In the small dialog that should appear, choose "Start in Safe Mode"
Then open the '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Does that clear it up?

  • Firefox 15 crashing when started from Command line in Windows 15

I have been loading my work space via a batch file everyday for the past 4 years.
One of the apps I start is Firefox using the following command:<br />

As of Firefox 15, using the same command now ties Firefox to the console.

I also notice that since upgrading to Firefox 15, some console.log calls go to the Windows Console while firefox is loading. Most notably is HTTPSEverywhere.
When I rolled back to Firefox 14, the issue disappeared

    Hi,
I'm really sorry to have caused this regression.
Thanks for reporting this issue, I've done various tests before submitting my patch but I totally missed that issue...
It is now matter of getting my fix reviewed and landed, but in the meantime, I tried to craft an addon that would hopefully fix your issues.
    You can download it here:

  • Firefox gui element capture plug in keeps causing Firefox to crash and it won't open certain windows. Any idea why?

I disabled extensions per Firefox instructions and discovered that 'firefox gui element capture plug in 1.0' is the one causing my problems. Problems being Firefox either crashes or refuses to open an additional window, and then crashes.

I am not sure why this started happening, however please update to version 32.0.3 when its available.
The places we can troubleshoot is in the Applications menu under preferences.
*[[Set how Firefox handles different types of files]]
If you set it to pdf.js viewer as default does it not show up?

  • Firefox consistently crashes when loading Flash sites

For a couple of reasons I decided to go ahead and install OSS a few days ago.  On the first day, the install went smoothly and everything was working just as it should (I used the oss-linux-free PKGBUILD in AUR).  Yesterday and today, however, I've started to get a reoccurring problem that is, to put it lightly, driving me nuts.
Firefox (or Epiphany, though I prefer the former) consistently crashes when opening up any site that uses Flash or Java.  With the way the internet is going, this is a large chunk of websites—not being able to visit YouTube or the website for Enemy Territory: Quake wars, for instance, is driving me nuts.
Now, when I say "consistently" I don't mean each and every time.  I've been able to get these sites to load a number of times, but in the last two days Firefox has crashed in probably 2/3-3/4 of the time when loading any site that has a Flash element.  I've made sure that I have not wrongly assumed this has to do with my newly installed OSS by uninstalling, reinstalling the kernel and all ALSA packages, rebooting, and then surfing the web for a while to see if anything went wrong.  It didn't.
So my question is this: why is Firefox crashing so often in the two days since I've installed OSS?  What can be done to rectify this?
After some experimenting, it seems the problem is worst under the following conditions:
    - Having several tabs open, though not necessarily several tabs with Flash
    - Listening to music and THEN navigating to YouTube or something.
However, it's not specific to these circumstances.  In fact, just before I decided to make this post I opened Firefox, went to a site with Flash on it (one tab), and it immediately shut down.  I tried this three or four additional times and was met with the exact same results.
    Other info
    Firefox: Pre-compiled Mozilla i686 build, v. 2.0.0.11
OSS: OSS (GPL version) 4.0, build 1012
    Operating System: Arch Linux 2.6.23-ARCH
    I've also posted this here.

  • Firefox 4 crashes after windows recovery virus /malware infection

Hello My computer was infected by the "windows recovery " virus/malware when running Firefox 4 with administrator right user . I could get rid of the virus/malware using antivirus and antimalware sw ( superantispyware, antimalwarebytes, spybot and avast ) . Currently , no viruses or malwares are reporetd on my system . Still, when starting firefox.exe , the error message " firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close " is triggered and , although firefox starts and runs OK; it will close whenever a send/don't send option is taken on the error message . If I rename the Firefox.ex exe program into another name, Firefox runs OK and the error message is not triggered .
I have had superantispyware support run an analysis tool on my system and their feedback was that the infection, if any, can only be viral . I had AVAST run in F8 safe mode and no viruses are reported any longer after desinfection of the system where a couple of exes created by the malware were found/deleted . I tried uninstall/reinstall Firefox 4 and 3, but the problem remains . Also, I have looked for a crash report in the documents and settings folder but finds none . Last, I also tried to start firefox.exe in safe mode but it will not start ( it will well start if I rename firefox.exe into another name )
Thanks beforehand if you can suggest something to solve this .
    Best regards Pierre W

Does it help if you create a new profile or uninstall and reinstall Firefox?
If you reinstall Firefox then be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove possibly left over files in it.
You can try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
