Firefox loading slowly including other websites, freezes

When I open firefox it loads slowly. When I try to go to another site it slows/freezes. What can I do to fix this. Also in the help tab it only give me the option for troubleshooting information. No reload, restart option.

I suspect that the search value in your setup is invalid.
Could you please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar where you normally type in a web address, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#If you see a window which says "This might void your warranty!", click the button which says "I'll be careful, I promise" so you can continue with the next step.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
#Close the tab<br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.<br><br>
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
* Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
* Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
* Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
* Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br><br>
If this step fixes the problem for you, please click the '''Solved it''' button next to this post after you log in into the forum. This will help others searching for a solution to the same subject.
Thanks.

  • Firefox loads slowly and sometimes will freeze up. Why?

I double click on FireFox icon and wait and wait. Most times it eventually opens but sometimes it freezes up. I then go into Windows Task Manager and hit end process. When I restart, it seems to load quickly. I am running Bit Defender Internet Security 2010 version 13.0.21.

If you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some of your data (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, form data) is automatically imported and your current profile will be moved to the desktop (Old Firefox Data).<br />

  • I have been unable to connect to facebook since 2/7/2013. Firefox connects to all other websites with no problem. Im able to connect in mobile on pc.

I had been on facebook in the morning of this date. I went back to my page and things began loading slowly. I logged out and tried to reload my account and from that moment on I keep getting the "Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.facebook.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
I have gone through and tried everything in the trouble shooting section for Firefox.
My connection is fine, I have checked the modem, router, and checked in other browsers with the same results. I am unable to contact facebook to talk to their support team.
I am able to connect on my pc, to facebook, if I type in mobile before facebook.

  • How to include other website into yours without letting the user's know

    Hi,
I have my own website. Now I want to put a link to other website( say yahoo.com) inside my html pages. When ever I clicks on yahoo.com it takes me to yahoo. I want to embed this yahoo in my pages so that user does not know if he is actually visiting yahoo. The browser should not show the yahoo URL instead it should keep my website URL Only. Any ideas how this can be done will be appreciated..
    thx

Simplest solution. Have a frameset specification in the page from your website and load the other website inside the frame. This way the URL of the frame content will not be visible to the browser.

  • Firefox will not load https (and other websites)

    Hello everyone.
I'm running Firefox 18.0 on Windows 7 (64bit). Out of the blue, it started not loading certain webistes. It just spits out blank pages, or does not react when clicking login buttons. The web console will display a GET-message [for facebook: http/1.1. 302 Found 174ms], but hard reloads (CTRL+F5) do not help either.
So far, I have encountered problems with :
    - Facebook (blank page)
    - Amazon (will not react upon "login")
    - GMX (will not react upon "login")
    - Mozilla.org (will not let me download Firefox anew OR create a support account)
    - My university's library catalogue (will not react upon "login")
    - Any of my university's https://-pages
    - The Google search in the Firefox task bar.
    - EDIT: The e-mail confirmation link this board has send me will not load either.
They will load in Internet Explorer, so here's what I did:
    - EVERYTHING from the "Firefox can't load websites, but other browsers can" page, including
Removing and readding FF to my Firewall exceptions,
    changing proxy settings,
    Dis- and enabling IvP6 settings,
    DNS Prefetching,
Clearing cookies, history, browser cache and network cache,
    full system scan
    - Deleting and Reinstalling Firefox
    - Dis- and enabled SPDY in about:config
Please help. I'm at the end of my rope. Thanks.
EDIT: The websites work if I start FF in safe mode. Hope this leads to something.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • New version of Firefox loads a client's website incorrectly, when all previous versions have worked.

Our client's website used to have a menu that ran along the top. With the newest update of Firefox, this menu no longer displays. We've tested in all the other major browsers, including 2 older versions of FF and it works fine.
The CMS being used is Exponent CMS.

It seems to work fine now, with no change on our end. Odd.

  • Since the lastest update Firefox loads slowly. It takes a minute or two to start. sometimes longer

when initializing the browser takes a long time, sometimes several minutes, to load. Once loaded it behaves normally. This happens on both my home and office desktop

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Video/Picture fie conversion before loading to Facebook /other websites

Hello, I just purchased an iPhone 4. Is there an app or other way to convert video and pictures on my iPhone before I attempt to upload the files to an online site? It seems silly to wait an hour to upload a 6min video (200mb .mov file) only to have the website shrink the file down to a 25mb flv file. It seems my phone has enough horsepower to convert the file first and save some serious time for the upload. If I could i suppose I would prefer the mp4 format.
I searched for this topic but could not find anything. Please post a link to the appropriate thread if I missed it.
Yes, this is primarily for facebook and my desire to post silly videos of my kids.

  • Publishing IPA loads half included images then freezes at 5%

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'm new to AS3 and AIR for iOS. I'm working on an AIR for iOS puzzle app in Flash.
I've included 48 jpg image files in the "Air for iOS Settings" General dialog box.
When compiling the ipa, it will only include 36 of the 48 image files. (I've tested each image one by one to find the ones that it won't include.)
If I try to include one of the "bad" images in the ipa, Flash will freeze at 5%. Then I have to "force quit" it.
Ever heard of this issue? Does anyone know a work-around for this?
    Thanks!

Thanks Anton. Yes. I'm using Flash CC. I tried to include the directory rather than the individual 48 images but it doesn't work. It behaves as though it's published successfully but the images don't show in the app.
Please see the image. The "images" directory doesn't have a full path like the "Images" directory in your screenshot.
I'm not sure what to do ... Is there another way to get this published? You mentioned a command line. Is there something I can do there?
    Thanks for you input!

  • Web pages load slowly using Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

Web pages are loading slowly now on my mid-2008 iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Doesn't seem to matter if I use Safari v5.1.10, Firefox v29.0.1, or Chrome v34.0.1847.131.
Problem started about a week ago mostly with YouTube but now I have issues with almost all web pages loading slowly, including this one.

Try resetting both your Intenet MODEM/Router by unplugging them, waiting 15 to 20 seconds then plugging them back in.

  • Loads slowly, stops pwrking, freezes my OS

I'm having what seems to be a fairly common problem. Firefox loads extremely slow, freezes and will lock up my system requiring a hard shutdown.
I have ran anti-malware software, anti-virus software, cleared my cache, and optimized windows, to the best settings. I have restarted with all add on disabled, and I have rolled back to an earlier version of firefox, just to make this browser usable, but I am still getting the (not responding) error.
I can not view installed add ons or extensions, cannot update them or even download extensions from their websites. when I clicked the link to show details about the educated guess about my browser etc. my computer froze.
I have been a firefox fan for many years and have never had this much trouble. I need help, please

Have you tried to disable hardware acceleration.
    Perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
    Check for graphic driver updates:

  • I can't connect to the itunes store and have some problems with other websites. Some websites load OK. I had the same problem on my iPad and changed the DNS, but don't want to do this on my iMac, anyway, surely I should have my router's DNS?

I can't connect to the iTunes store from my iMac and have problems loading a number of other websites, however some websites load perfectly well. I have had the iTunes store issue on my iPad and resolved it by changing the DNS but surely I should use the DNS for my router. I don't really want to change it for the iMac as I access secure sites with it to internet shop.
Any ideas, I was going to try loading Chrome but can't get it without going through the iTunes store. Anyway, that is treating the symprom not the cause.

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

  • The NYT website won't stop loading whenever it does an auto-update. While this loading continues, other websites are unresponsive until I force the loading to terminate. This started happening with FF 4.0.1.

When I do a manual refresh on certain sites like NY Times or CNN, or when sites like NYT periodically push an update through, the updates won't stop loading. It's as though the update never completes. The rotating circle icon on the affected tab just continues indefinitely. While this is happening, other websites that I try to open or update are either very slow or unresponsive.
My fix has been to force the update to terminate by using the red X button next to the website name. Then other websites respond normally but often the one that I have manually stopped becomes unresponsive.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Suddenly my firefox loads SO slowly. I launch firefox first and then Safari and Safari loads pages before firefox enen begins too. Also a LOT more adds show pages I looked at previously.

Several weeks ago Firefox suddenly was / is very slow to load all pages. I launch Firefox. Wait. Launch Safari. Safari loads page while I am still waiting for Firefox.
    Why?

Do you use NoScript? There's possibly an issue with NoScript where certain settings cause Firefox to load HTTPS pages on startup very slowly.
