Firefox loads the "welcome to firefox" along with my homepage (firefox startup page) everytime I start firefox up. It also checks for add-on compatibility at the same time.

My firefox program is regularly updated (automatic update). Normally, after an update, when I start up firefox the "welcome to firefox" (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/6.0.2/whatsnew/) with all the new features and stuff display pops up, but only for the first time, together with the add-on compatibility check
This time, however, it just keeps loading everytime I start up firefox. It seems to think that I've just updated all the time. It's not a problem (nothing else is affected), I'm just wondering why this is happening. Suggestions?
I'm running firefox 6.0.2 on a windows 7 platform. No patches or funny stuff added to firefox. Standard players and video/audio encoders.

  • Firefox opens up "you are updated to newest firefox version" page every time i start. Does the same for for updated extensions. Also checks for add-on compatibility everytime i start. Please help me.

Everytime i start Firefox (version 9.0.1 -release version) it checks for compatibility with the add-ons just as if i just installed firefox. It also opens up "you have successfully updated to the latest version" pages for firefox (and extensions. ie flashgot and downloadhelper). My homepage was always blank and firefox was always set to load the pages from the last session. A similar issue was covered in this support but that solution (setting the homepage to default) didnt help me.

    Hi meric07,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Very time I click on Firefox, a check for add-on compatibility runs also after a short time the screen fills with Firefox Android add; this is annoying. How

The latest Mozilla update change the way my computer starts when I click on Mozilla on the desktop. The first think that happens is that a small window appears and tells me it is checking for add-ons compatibility. After what seems like a long period, the screen fills with some sort of Mozilla about Android and Mozilla. I then have to x this to get to my email page. This is annoying. How do I fix this?

How to stop Firefox from checking for add-on compatibility every time it opens?

That can be a problem with the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder.
Try to rename (or delete) the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder to see if that helps.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can also check for problems with preferences.
Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • How to prevent the change of Home page everytime I start Firefox? Claro search starts everytime I start firefox even when I change the default Home page

This link becomes my homepage whenever I launch firefox. Even if I change the homepage to one of my bookmarks, on restart it is automatically changed to the above link.

if your manual changes don't 'stick' after a restart of the browser, please look out for any suspicious extensions (like 3rd-party-toolbars or things you have not installed intentionally) presently installed under '''firefox/tools > addons > extensions''' or the programs section of the windows control panel and remove those entries.
afterwards install the search reset addon, it will revert the most common settings that got modified by adware back to the default ones: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
in case this doesn't solve the issue please try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder", then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named '''user.js''' (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.

  • Why do I get the "What's new, your FF is up to date" page everytime I start FF 10.0?

This is an addition tab with my normal start up tabs.

I don't know if bit replied to you,
checked the links you provided and my prefs.js file is not read-only and it appears to be saving my settings, based on file date. I did notice the user.js file may have issues. Each line appears to be duplicated. Here is a partial copy nof that file:
    user_pref("app.update.auto", false); user_pref("app.update.auto", false); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.addon-background-update-timer", 1326852493); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.addon-background-update-timer", 1327038601); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.background-update-timer", 1326852733); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.background-update-timer", 1327038841); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.blocklist-background-update-timer", 1326852613); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.blocklist-background-update-timer", 1327038721); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.search-engine-update-timer", 1326858453); user_pref("app.update.lastUpdateTime.search-engine-update-timer", 1327038481); user_pref("browser.anchor_color", "#0000FF"); user_pref("browser.anchor_color", "#0000FF"); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.capacity", 1048576); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.capacity", 1048576); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled", false); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled", false); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.first_run", false); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size.first_run", false); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size_cached_value", 1048576); user_pref("browser.cache.disk.smart_size_cached_value", 1048576);
    What do you think?
    Or could I edit prefs.js with about:config?

If a shortcut is used while Firefox is already open the error does not occur.

As reported in earlier replies, the annoyance disappeared after I upgraded to Roboform 7.5.6, from 7.5.4.

  • Everytime I start firefox the web page that pops up is not my bookmark but the last web page that I visited before completely closing firefox. I have a bookmark set, so why is this happening?

I can no longer access some websites as they have a cookie limit and even if I close the browser when I reopen Firefox the website will be my main page with the cookie limitation still reached. My bookmark is not opening when I open Firefox.

  • Everytime I start Firefox it will not remember by home page. I have set it according to the FAQ's listed but it changes everytime i close it.

I open Firefox and have to reset my homepage every time I open it. I have followed the instruction in the FAQ's, but it still changes after being closed. Also when I try to open another page it open something trying to sell me something or telling me that my drivers need updating or that I do not have the latest version of Firefox (I currently have version 28.0). I get pop up adds without opening or being asked if I want to view them. This is a new computer running Windows 8.

i updated to the newest version of Firefox 0n th 19th of July and since then everytime I start Firefox all I get is a window that reads

Weeks of TRASH = FIREFOX 3.66
All three of my computers have been totally worthless since I upgraded to FF3.66. Each are built/configured differently. Each has a different OS. Each has all the above problems. Crashes constantly, RAM & CPU usage on a Q9650 is always near 100%. After screwing around for days I finally came here and found out that I was among a very large and upset group of users. With the last few upgrade I've had minor problems with my selection of add-ons Firefox disabled them for a later fix. I found a new DL today, 3.67 so I installed it figuring the problem was addressed. After installation of 3.67 it still says it's 3.66??
I went to their site to find help from them and couldn't get anyplace until I came here and read about my problem. Thanks for giving me a clear head so I could find a good solution.
My solution was to remove all Mozilla/Firefox products and then install other browsing options. It felt funny because for the first time in years I had to use Microsoft Internet Explorer to find other options. My computer is problem free and fast as usual now.
I wonder how many other users have abandoned them due to this BS?? I for one will probably stick with my new choices now.
YES, Weeks of TRASH = FIREFOX 3.66

  • CPU usage goes off the meter everytime I start firefox and when I open add-ons tab to troubleshoot the CPU usage goes and then stays on normal. Why?

The CPU usage is 99% everytime I start firefox. When I open help tabs in the browser to troubleshoot the problem the cpu goes down to normal. How am I supposed to troubleshoot the issue if the last resort is as simple as uninstalling firefox?
    Running: Firefox 5.0
    OS. H.P. Windows XP/ sp3 , mem. 1536 MB , Pent.4.

Hi musicfan,<br />Sorry you are having problems with Firefox. Maybe you should have asked earlier and we could have fixed it.
Reading your comments I do not see that rolling back to an insecure Firefox 22 will actually help you much. You are probably best using IE, unless you have also damaged that.
    *[[Export bookmarks to Internet Explorer]]
You should not use old versions they are insecure. Security fixes are publicised and exploitable.
    * [[Install an older version of Firefox]]
    * https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
Most others will not be having such problems. We are now able to say that with confidence because after developers missed a regression in Firefox 4 telemetry was introduced so that data was obtained. It may be an idea to turn on your telemetry, if you have not already done so, and decide to stick with Firefox.

  • When I open my MacBook Air the keyboard comes up along with the screen and does not stay still?!

When I open my MacBook Air the keyboard comes up along with the screen and does not stay still. So I need to hold down the keyboard while i open it. Other than that it works fine despite the fact that the fan noise some times is loud and sometimes it's getting warm at the base. I wonder if this can be fixed if i go to one of the apple branches.

Yes. Take the computer to the Apple store to have it fixed.

Is there a way to view the messages I sent along with files in Adobe Send?

Too bad...I wish that feature was still there that was in SendNow...I also have to go and get the recipients email each time I send a file instead of Send remembering the email addresses I have sent to in the past.
Are any of the great features of SendNow going to be brought over into Send? Or are they just gone...I am a paying CC user...just curious what's going on at Adobe...Thanks for your very quick response though...I guess my message content is gone.
