Firefox locks up intermittenly when Google Search is executed
Most of the time it works fine - but often Firefox will lock up whenever I try to execute a search via Google (interesting - but BING does not lock it up) -- I actually think it may be a JVM issue -- I have tried clearing cache ... but the only fix seems to be rebooting the computer -- something is getting whacked in memory
Same problem with FF37 beta. All internet loads stop. When I exit the program the window closes but process continues to run and Task Manager will not stop it. The only solution is to reboot. I have tried safe mode and a full refresh. Neither helps.

Stop Firefox from reverting back to Google Search Results when opening a page from results list
When I click on one of the results from a Google search, I have it open the page in a new window. The page opens in the new window just fine, but instead of letting me view the page in the new window, Firefox takes me back to the Google Search results page. I am able to click on the new window and view the page that I chose, but it gets old being sent back to the search results each time I click on one of them and attempt to view it.
This happens on my work PC, home laptop, and my desktop at home as well. I have different versions running on each machine, and home laptop has the latest version of Firefox. I have searched the web and cannot find anyone having this same problem, much less a resolution, so I will ask here.
I hope this makes sense, if more info is needed please let me know.
Thanks to anyone that can help.One reason for this can be if the new window contains Flash media, but Flash hasn't been used for several minutes, the Adobe protected mode feature changes the order of the windows. This is a bug that Adobe has yet to fix. If you rule out the Flash issue, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).

Can you help me figure out how to stop Firefox from opening to welcome page / updated window, I have to close that before I can use my google search page ,which is my homepage !!
You can start by checking the Home page setting to see if that still links to the Google Home page (http://www.google.com/firefox)
* Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
You can also check the startup setting just above the home page setting.
If the home page setting isn't correct and changing it doesn't last if you close and reopen Firefox then you need to check if the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/prefs.js_file prefs.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] isn't corrupted.

As I said above: I Have Firefox browser home page set for Google search, but each following tab (but suddenly now it) opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo search off the added tabs and have Google home page/ blank tab (like it used to be) on every tab????

I have installed tab utilities lite, when I select some links (i.e. the ask questions button in this site) I get new tabs, but when I open the google search results links, the link opens in the existing tab.

The problem seems to be caused by the 'New Tab Homepage' add on. So:
# Disable or remove the 'New Tab Homepage' add on and restart firefox.
# Download and install the firefox add on called 'NewTabURL' and restart firefox.
# Click on the Options button for NewTabURL and uncheck 'Select location bar after loading new tab'
# Under the 'Default URL for new tabs' heading, choose 'Home Page'
# Click on the Save button.

Problem Reinstalling Firefox on IMAC, only get Google Search on opening
Need Help-I am familiar with using Firefox on my IMAC but recently had to reinstall it (have tried several times to do this) but, when trying to open what appears to be a successful installation, I only get a Google Search window that has the Firefox symbal to the right of a search blank and above the box it says "FIREFOX START." Firefox loads blank page off google search only on some stes
google search results are found ok, some links load to website other selected links load a blank screen, obout 25% of sites fail to load, internet explorer browser WILL load sites that fail on Firefox.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

How do I make it so that Firefox automatically switched to a google search when i open a new tab?
Everytime I open up a new tab, it switches to a blank page.

The http://www.google.com/firefox used to be the old Firefox start page for 3.6.* and earlier and has not been maintained by Google ever since Firefox 4.0 came out as to why this start page may have the "You're not on the latest version of Firefox" message at times.

I am using the latest version of Firefox. Yesterday, I came to work without my contact lenses so I magnified my screen resolution in the main control panel settings to blow everything up. I have since reverted back to the default settings on the computer.
In Firefox, I also was magnifying the screen as I visited various websites (Ctrl+plus). Today, the websites themselves are displaying perfectly fine.
The problem is everything above the website, in the menu bar, as listed in the question above. The font size is incredibly small and I am not finding a way to revert back to default resolution. Any help?Thank cor-el. Turns out that, in the end, it was a DPI settings issue. Problem solved... thanks!!

Firefox loading wrong page when searching from default home page

When I try a search from the default home page (about:home) in Firefox, instead of bringing up google search results I get sent to the following page

Has anyone come across this before?This reply by cor-el was a partial solution to the problem. But there was a further problem. Ask.com had a .exe program installed in my computer along with a program I had installed (Webroot anti-virus and Spy Sweeper), and this .exe program would keep restoring ask.com as the default search engine after I removed it. I had to use the "remove program" function of the Control Panel to remove the .exe program (called Webroot Ask.exe or something close to that) to finish the job.
So to dispose of the problem, follow the advice above from cor-el, and then go to the Control Panel, track down some form of ask.exe, and remove it. -
i cant use the "google search" button with firefox 3.6.6 or even 3.5. I have no problem with searching google on internet explorer. The" Im feeling lucky" button works. The google search tab on the top right corner of firefox browser works fine. But the main google search button on the google site doesnt work. I havent changed anything. i cant do anymore google searches.

Can't get rid of Google search helper--it's replaced AdBlock in the toolbar.
Beta version of Firefox, with AdBlock.
The Google search helper has replaced the AdBlock icon. I cannot access the AdBlock controls, even though I have reinstalled it. Ads aren't appearing.
I can't remove the Google search helper via Tools-->AddOns because Google helper doesn't show up there.Could be "Download Helper" (Video Download Helper). It has a screen capture option and that option requires CSHelper.
