Firefox maximizes so minimize-miximize-close buttons not seen

firefox presents all pages in Ubuntu Linux too wide for the
minimize, maximizem close buttons to disappear

Toggle full screen mode with the F11 key a few times to see if that brings the title bar back.
Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.<br />
If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.<br />

  • Missing maximize, minimize and close buttons

I see that people have been having problems with these issues before the finalized FF4, I have the most updated version on my PC. The answers all seem to say it was a problem with beta versions. When I stay online for long periods of time my full screen, minimize and close buttons disappear. I have 2 screens and have found that when I pull a tab to the other screen the buttons reappear with that tab. But all the tabs still on previous screens are still missing. If I pull the whole set of tabs (opened together) I still can not get the buttons to reappear. when I am ready to close all the open tabs at once I use task manager and close down FF4. Right now I see my background screen where the button should be.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br>Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right-click empty space on a toolbar and choose "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press the F11 key.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • I am getting an old minimize, restore, close button in new Firefox in XP

I'm using XP sp2 and everything looks new except minimize, restore & close buttons.
    How can i resolve it?

Those buttons on the title bar are controlled by Windows and not by Firefox, so those keep the old appearance.<br />
It looks that you got the orange Firefox menu button on XP and no longer have the Menu bar visible.
You get the orange Firefox menu button when the Menu bar is hidden.<br />
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the hidden Menu bar if necessary.

  • After customizing Leopard icons: I have no minimize/maximum/close buttons on every window

    hey,
I was so careless to play with some 3rd party icons, which were in .icns format (Mistikons09_ic.dmg). Actually, I was so stupid that I didn't use some software (eg. CandyBar) to open those .icns files. After I accidently clicked on one of those .icns file, the minimize/maximum/close buttons were gone from every window frame, and only left some tiny dots on the original location...In addition, some small components of the GUI were also changed, as shown below...
Then I tried to use CandyBar or some other softwares to restore the default Leopard icons, but I failed...
Can anyone kind to tell me how to restore everything?
    Thank you so much!

You're going to have to reinstall the system.  Fortunately, the Snow Leopard installer will install right on top of your existing system, so you'll have minimal disruption.  (Have backups just in case, though!)  After reinstalling, run Software Update to bring everything back up-to-date.

  • Unexpected performance of Firefox in Windows 7, namely minimize/maximize/close buttons not working and unable to move/resize window.

I have been using FF for a while now. My main computer was WinXP-32, though I recently bought a new laptop with Win7-64 installed. This problem was never experienced on my WinXP machine.
    Brief description of problem:
After a time of having FF up and running, the minimize/maximize/restore/close buttons in the top-right no longer work as expected and, if not maximised, I cannot move the window around my desktop nor resize the browser window. When clicked, the buttons will
rapidly flash on and off continuously without appearing to perform any noticeable function other than temporarily hogging CPU cycles. I've found that clicking (sometimes double clicking) in the main browser window then mousing over the buttons again seems
to stop them flashing, though does nothing else.
To minimize/maximize/restore/move/close the window(s), I have to right-click on the relevant tab in my taskbar and pick the desired option. Occasionally, however, even this doesn't work and the right-click menu will disappear as soon as I move the mouse
over it after right-clicking. 'Show desktop' is a temporary fix for minimising windows and 'ALT + F4' or 'CTRL + W' for closing windows or tabs. This isn't satisfactory and to move or resize a window, I have to close the window in question (sometimes all other
windows too), reopen it and do what I need to do, though sometimes even this is only a very short fix. If I have to close all the windows, FF will sometimes keep running for a while afterwards, even though no windows are actually open - simply ending the process
via the windows task manager will fix this though is only a work-around, not a fix.
One thing I have noticed is that if I manage to move the browser window (when not maximised), for a short period afterwards I can often resize the window successfully. This is more likely to occur if the browser window is not flush with the edge of my screen
    once moved.
I've tried to include as much information as I can - most of which was determined after several minutes/hours of playing around with different scenarios, trying to manually reproduce particular problems or simply through sheer luck of happening to click
in the right place at the right time! I hope there is a reasonably fix for this at some point in the not-too-distant future.
I noticed in some of the threads at another site where people have voiced problems similar to mine, that a link to 'ObjectDock' was discovered in some cases. I do have 'ObjectDock 1.90 Plus' installed on my machine and use it in many ways and so decided
to see if I could find a connection between the two. I have uninstalled, tested, and reinstalled both programs in a multitude of ways, though could find no conclusive correlation between having both bits of software running or installed at the same time and
the problems I am experiencing. In my case, at least, this does not appear to be an answer.
Also, in another thread on this site, someone suggested there might be a link with AVG Anti-Virus Free (I have version 9.0.819) though I've tried uninstalling it and its various add-ons in several different combinations, with no noticeable improvement.
Sorry for such a long question... If you need to know anything more, just let me know!

    Hi Kossa,
You can also check if the issue occurs in
Clean Boot. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
    Besides, uninstall it and re-download
a fresh copy of FireFox to check the result. If the issue still exists, create a new user account to see if it occurs.
If the issue persists, you can contact Mozilla Support directly and use Internet Explorer (IE) during the time.

  • I don't like the look of the new firefox and I treid to change the theme by clicking on an Add-on, but nothing happened and nothing changed. Also I can't see the minimize and close buttons on the corner of my screen.

the Add-on didn't work to download. It was the Qute theme to make firefox look more like an older version.
Also the top right corner of my screen is black and I can't see the minimize or restore or close button. they work by me guessing where to place my mouse, but the buttons can't be seen.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Cannnot exit firefox, maximize or minimize without clearing history. Also cannot adjust desired time on videos such as fast foward, rewind or maximize screen.

Firefox started acting weird like this two days ago. Like I said, videos are being made to be watched all the way from the start with no option to adjust desired time, as well as the top right X esc button on the firefox browser, maximize and minimize will not work as well until the history is cleared. I just reset firefox and it is still having the same complications. Also before, I was able to center click the mouse wheel to open new tabs and thus it is not working any more. Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I've searched everywhere, but have found little mention of the problem, let alone a fix. I have the same conditions as the original poster: XP, 3rd party visual style, and problem disappears when enabling the menu bar. My Windows caption buttons appear exactly like the posted screenshot. I would imagine CSS could fix it. Thanks,

  • [Android][Other] the "X" {close} button not right after the " " {next} button in lockscreen

do you listen to spotify while commuting?Well, wouldn't you wisht that the spotify lockscreen player buttons would be bigger and that the "X" {close} button would not be really close in space to the ">>" {next}  button. Well I would. Its frustrating when I'm listening to a song I don't like, while im driving, then i click the next button but i accidentally click the close button and the music stop. Now I can't listen to my music because I'm driving and now it involves unlocking my phone and going back to spotify while i'm driving /; not so safe.  Attechment shows a comparison between Spotify and Google Music in the lockscreen

You mean like windows 7 behaviour where the red area appears behind a white X as you mouse over?
I would do that by putting the X in a button.
You then have something concrete there to work with.
Change the background color on mouseenter and again on mouseleave.
Otherwise you'd have to work out whether the mouse was over that X you drew on there.  And I think that'd be difficult.
    Or am I missing something?
Why are you using Drawstring to draw an X on there?
By the way, you should really be asking windows forms questions in the windows forms forum.
It's in your interest as you ought to get more windows forms developers hang out there.
    In theory anyhow.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cap2, exe close button not working

I'm publishing to an exe, and I have a disclaimer page where
I want the user to choose between agree & disagree. Agree is
easy, I added a button, on success: continue. With Disagree, I want
the whole project to close, so I looked up the code for making a
close button with the following typed in the javascript box
"javascript:window.close()". Now, when I click on the button it
opens Internet Explorer and then displays the following error
message: "Internet Explorer cannot download . Unspecified error."
So I ran through the forums looking for some help & I've
since changed the javascript to show "window.close()", then
"windows.close()", and still, same error message & the project
    still doesn't close.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks.

    Hi B Ellefson
Are you sitting down? I hope so because this one is pretty
    easy.
Just click Project > Preferences... > Start and End tab
and configure the action for when the movie ends to be "Close
project". Then configure that "Disagree" button to simply jump to
the last slide. You might even wish to make that last slide really
short from a timing perspective. Maybe .1 seconds or so.
With this approach, your .EXE should close quickly, quietly
    and consistently.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Maximize/minimize and close buttons do not work properly

Suddenly the buttons at the top right are not working properly. There is no change in appearance when hovering the mouse over it. This does not occur immediately after I open firefox but shortly afterwards. I noticed by accident that if I open the options box and close it again these buttons will work for a while. It also applies to dialogue boxes that open up as well. I did not add any plugins, but I do believe there was a recent update for firefox installed. Thanks

Thanks, however I am on release 18.0. I am not quite sure yet but I think the problem may have solved itself. Since I first posted if happened a few times but nothing over the past couple of hours so perhaps the issue resolved itself. I'll repost if it does. Thanks again

  • Minimize / restore / close buttons are not themed on Windows 8.1

Hi, I use latest version of Firefox, I'm running Windows 8.1 64
After i installed theme, my top right buttons (close etc..) are not themed but have default window color, it's a little annoying and i'm not the only one who have this trouble.

    Hello,
Unfortunately I believe you will actually need to change your whole Windows desktop theme in order to change those buttons. Perhaps this link can help you:
    * https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-desktop/windows-81-desktop-window-decorations-changed/b1abd464-8a7f-43fa-ae56-849a974eddd1
EDIT: The relevant part might be:
    * Right click the Desktop and select Personalize.
    * In the top Themes section scroll down and click Get more Themes online.
