Firefox Nightly is always crushing when starting in Metro-Style on my Windows 8 device (Acer Iconia W510)

System: Windows 8
Device: Acer Iconia W510
Nightly is set as default browser and its working in Desktop Mode but if i want to open a link or just the Metro-App I can see the loading screen for some seconds and then nightly is closing.
It's impossible for me to make it run in Metro-Style.

I suspect that the problem with the Intel GMA has been fixed, at least my W3 which is effectively the same 2760 archetecture as the W510 installed as update, and a W510 should install normally. For the w3 when Win10 complained about "not enough room" I just pointed it at the 64GB microSD and it put the recovery files there. Why did you need to remove yours ? Giving it a few days then I'll probably upgrade the 510 as well. BTW the W3 is handling dual big monitors & the Targus dock on W10 with no problem. Plays video nicely.

  • Firefox doesn't always open when I click the icon

I am running Windows 7, and was running Firefox 6. I just upgraded to 8. Regardless of the version of Firefox, however, there are times when I click the Firefox icon to start it (or try to open from a program list), yet a window doesn't open.
Judging by the task manager, it's actually running - there is just no visible window. Sometimes I can get it to start by "opening" it and ending the process in the task manager a few times, but sometimes I have to completely restart my computer to get Firefox to actually open.

Try to close Firefox via "File > Exit" if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

  • Firefox 24 and 25-b always hangs when starting up on mac Osx 10.8.5 despite trying everything suggested on support pages. Reverting to firefox 22 works. Help?

I have tried everything on support yet it keeps crashing. My macbook pro has the same software (10.8.5) yet firefox 25.0 works like a dream. My desk top is part of an office network with 10.8 server.
Question title edited by moderator to change "keeps crashing" to "always hangs", since Firefox isn't crashing - it's not responding. aw

I encounter the same problem. I suspect this has to do with remote user homes. Firefox 24 works on local accounts - not in server hosted ones.
I am sorry i can not provide crash reports because Firefox hangs in such an early state - it does not write crash logs. It literally does not crash - it just stops to respond a lounchtime - so it does not give an error in the system console, too.
We have 20 Workstations (OSX 10.8.5) working with apple remote user homes. the problem is persistent on all systems. Firefox 23 worked fine and does again if you reinstall it.

  • Why does "wecome to firefox"always open when starting firefox?

Since updating from firefox3.xxx, every time I open the browser, Welcome to Firefox and my home page opens. How do I get "welcome" to stop opening? AND all the colors are missing from the menu bar text, only white on the arrows, reload, "house" icon etc.

  • Add on page always opens when starting Firefox

Why does the add on page open up every time I launch Firefox? It does it only on my desktop computer, not my laptop and they both have the same version and options.

  • Firefox stops responding for 15s when starting downloads.

Every time I start a new download, Firefox will stop responding for around 15 seconds. During this time, nothing happens, my CPU usage spikes, and many downloads will subsequently fail if they do not support a resume feature. This is extremely frustrating. I have tried reinstalling, disabling add-ons, and clearing my download history daily, all to no avail. I'm tempted to switch back to Firefox 3.x. I know this doesn't apply here, but Nightly does the same thing.
I've got a C2D @ 3.16, 8 GB DDR2 1066, and a WD VelociRaptor 300 GB HDD as my primary (where files are saved temporarily), so I know it's not the system that's struggling.

I managed to solve this problem as my computer has been giving me problems lately and completely froze on me the other day thanks to Game Booster Beta 3 and completely screwed with Windows 7 to the point I almost had to reinstall again, but I managed to fix all my problems and if you would just follow my link here over to my post on Seven Forums then it would be easier then explaining it again.
http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/180714-windows-7-professional-64-bit-logs-but-almost-frozen-3.html#post1550277 The reason for this is if you shut down your computer while running Firefox, it's possible you corrupted your User Profile for FF and if you follow my instructions you can repair it instead of making a new, so just follow the link, read my post and if you have anymore problems just message me on Seven Forums. Have a nice day and hopefully you get it all fixed. :b

  • Why Indesign always crash when started up by a non-admin user

I have a really strange problem with the installation of Indesign CD6.
Normally on out network here we install any software as the admin user and we put a shortcut in the individual users their shortcut folder. And it always works perfectly.
But now one of our users has a problem with that. I installed CS6 in four different ways:
logged in as a network administrator
logged in as a local administrator
logged in as the user but executing the install file as a network administrator
logged in as the user but executing the install file as a local administrator
The first two ways never work and the last two ways let the user start up CS6 one time. After restarting the PC of logging off CS6 can't be started anymore.
I've also set the security on the Adobe Program Files-folder wide open for as well our "Domain Users" as "Everyone". But no use.
Below a screenshot of the error message I get.
One small note: When I close the error message and try to shut down or log off I also get a message that OS_PopupWindow can't be closed and I have to force the closing of whatever that is.
Anyone any idea about how I can fix this?

I'm not surprised, but we had to rule it out.
Many users, including me, are unable to run except in an admistrator account. I haven't bothered to chase it down here becasue I normally run as admin anyway, but it's most likely a permissions issue. There are a couple of other threads about this, and one of them has a list of files and registry entries that require write permission on XP, I think, that can provide a giude, but I have not seen a definitive list for anything newer.

  • Previous text always appears when starting new SMS

My wife has a problem with her iPhone 4s running iOS6.
When composing a new SMS, the text from a previous message appears in the window pane. We do restart, we turned it off/on but it is still there. When you reply to a text message, it will appear again from the window pane.
Any idea why is this happening?

One conversation with each person - at the present time anyway.
If an existing conversation has been started with a particular person, you can't create a new conversation for that person without deleting the existing conversation.

  • Firefox v 19.0 crash when opening facebook, no error/ crash report, Windows XP Pro

Just today Firefox has began crashes every time I log into facebook. Unlike other users, it is not creating or sending crash reports when it does this. I can access the main screen and log in but when the first logged in page tries to load it crashes. No other sites seem to be affected. I have tried clearing cookies, and nothing seems to have updated in the last 24 hours (other than maybe firefox as I can't find an update date for it).
    Thanks for any help!

Fixed! My Java and Flash were fine, it was actually the "Facebook Desktop" plug in which was messing it up. It was fully up to date and hadn't updated recently so I'm not sure why it randomly started causing an issue but disabling it seems to have fixed the problem without any negative side effects!
    Thanks for all the help!

    Hi,
For BugCheck FC, it indicates that an attempt was made to execute non-executable memory. For more details,
    please refer to following article.
    Bug Check 0xFC: ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY
    à
whenever we start the service as a User on the domain
. When we start the service as a system local it starts without problem
Did you mean that just use a standard domain user account to start the service, then encounter the issue? If
configure Log on as Local System account, will no BSOD issue occurred? Just a confirmation, thanks for your understanding.
Please check if you install all necessary Windows Updates on the server.
In addition, as you know, troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to analyze the crash dump file to narrow down the root cause of the issue. However, it is
not effective for us to debug the crash dump file here in the forum. If this issues is a state of emergency for you. Please contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request.

  • Why does Firefox create a folder "~/Download" when the "General" tab of the preferences window is selected in Linux?

This bug exists in 3.6 (and perhaps earlier) and 4.0. Simply selecting the General preferences tab creates folder ~/Download no matter what option is currently set for the download directory.

Try disabling hardware acceleration. Many visual bugs can be attributed to issues with graphics drivers.
(Firefox -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> [ ] Use hardware acceleration when available)

  • All SDK files crash when started  (errors generated and closed by windows)

Every time I try to start a java program in SDK 1.4 through windows or through dos, it gives me an error approximate to:
Javac.exe has created erros and will be closed by windows.
An error log has been created.
This happens EVERY time, and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it ><
    I'm running windows 2000

If the error log says anything meaningful, do what it indicates. Otherwise, deinstall and reinstall Java. If that doesn't fix the problem download a new copy (verify the file size, see the Installation Instructions) and install that.

  • When I try to Reset Firefox, the program crashes (except when I do it under a 2nd window!

FF has been crashing regularly lately, and now I have a semi-reproducible result: It crashes every time I try to reset FF. Then I tried to open a new window and tried it: it worked!?! Go figure. So I will reset FF and see what happens. FF 27.0.1 (apparently some updates are being applied as I speak. Will try those then Reset. Thanks

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • I can't type in games on the Metro mode of Firefox Nightly and Aurora.

    Hey there!
So I've downloaded Firefox Nightly and Aurora, and tried out the Metro version of both programs.
I had trouble with plugins, but after a while, I've managed to take care of it.
With the plugins working well, I went to play some games.
The games worked perfectly, until I noticed I can't INPUT INFORMATION!
Kept on typing, and nothing appears on the screen.
For example, when trying to enter a username, nothing appears!
I tried the same way on a different gaming website, and got same results.
I don't think it's an Adobe Flash-related problem, since I am running its latest version.
I tried the same way in the desktop mode of Firefox Nightly and Aurora, and it worked perfectly, I can type without any hassle.
I can't tell it's a bug, since it could be an isolated case, but in case I won't be able to solve this problem, I'll file a bug.
Looking forward to your assistance in solving this problem.
    Thank you.
