  • FIREFOX NO LONGER KEEPS MY PASSWORDS EVEN WHEN I SET IT TO DO SO. HEEEEEEELP!

1)Firefoz used to ask me if I wanted computer to remember passwords for emails etc...now it no longer asks if I enter new site with new passwords
    2) firefox also no longer remembers my passwords - I must type in each time to each site.
    3) I did try to reset it by going into "options" on tools; i marked remember cookis, still when I close firefox it cancels the lot. I did follow all instructions given on the various help pop-up-pages.
SO WHAT HAS CHANGED?? I did not click on anything new or did anything different to what I normally did.
    SO: plese help to reset:
    - firefox asking again if i want to remember it new passwords;
    - make sure all my regularly used sites remember all paswords.
    many thanks,

    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * You need an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep that cookie, especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

  • Firefox no longer autofills my email and password

When I visit websites for which I have usernames and passwords saved in firefox, which firefox used to autofill and which other browsers still autofill, FF no longer fills them. I am not using Private Browsing and signon.autofillForms is set to true.

    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/autofill-forms/
That version was updated in September 2014, and you might need the newer version now. To get the update, you can have Firefox check for extension updates as follows:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
    Ctrl+Shift+a
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, above the list, look for the button with the "gear" or "cog" icon, click that, and "Check for Updates."
Or if you only want to update this one extension, I think installing from the Add-ons site will overwrite the old version with the new one (not 100% sure about that).
    Hope this help

  • Firefox no longer requesting Master Password

Firefox is no longer requesting my Master Password on sites it previously asked it for. I haven't cleared cache/cookies etc. or changed any preferences or settings. I've quit Firefox and reloaded, then rebooted, to no avail. Any suggestions welcome.

  • Firefox no longer places my password in the site. Do I need to reset something?

When I need to set a password for a site I've never visited before, Firefox asks if it should retain it for me. When I try to log on to a site I've been using for ages, it doesn't fill in the password for me. Has there been a change in version 18 or is it possibly something in the site I'm visiting? Most of these sites retain an automatic sign-in feature but they never retain the password so my user name shows up in the proper field, just not the password to get in.

    Check this

  • Ever since updating to version 10, Firefox no longer inserts saved passwords. How can I fix this?

Password Manager remembers my passwords, but won't insert them at log in time. This began after updating to version 10. It will ask to save new passwords, but won't insert the old ones.

Did you try Safe mode to see if an extension is causing the problems?
You can also try to reset all preferences on the Safe mode start window or try to new profile.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
    See:

  • Firefox is not saving the password for my spam website.

This all started when I was browsing through my options and looked at my Saved Passwords. There were two entries for my spam e-mail website. I deleted one of them. Later, when I had to view spam, Firefox no longer remember my password. When I checked the Saved Passwords again, I went with Show Passwords, that area was blank for my spam website. So I deleted that entry also.
At this point, Firefox should have asked me if I wanted to save my password the next time I logged into my spam site, but it doesn't do that. I have added several new passwords to new sites, and Firefox saved them correctly, this website included.
Oh yeah, I'm currently using Firefox 7.0.1

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save the name and password.

  • How can I prevent firefox to Offer to save passwords and how to remove the tick checked when I log in to gmail?

While using firefox I am using, private browsing and not remembering any passwords.
When I login to Gmail, the login page shows option to type in my gmail id and then password, and at the bottom, it gives the option of checkbox to remember the password next time. NOW, the problem is that, THIS CHECK box is always TICKED (Checked). I don't want it to be checked at all.
So How can I prevent firefox to Offer to save passwords and how to remove the tick checked when I log in to gmail?
    Thank you so much.

Hi Imran_Afzal, if you know that setting the cookie has no effect after you close your private browsing session, is it really worth finding a hack to clear the checkbox?
I believe in order to do that you would need to use an extension or userscript. However, I haven't searched for one.
''Note: When searching for a userscript on userscripts.org, be very cautious as many hacked scripts have been posted lately. Check reviews and check the code to make sure it only runs on your Google site before installing.''

  • With Firefox 24, sign-on ID and Password were automatically filled-in. With Firefox 26.0, this no longer happens although password memory is enabled. What to do?

Neither the ID nor the password appear on one site but both did appear with Firefox 24. I have an iMac with OS X version 10.9 (Mavericks, which is also newly installed).

Can you confirm that the login is still saved?
Firefox menu > Preferences > Security > "Saved Passwords"
You could try deleting the saved login and saving it again -- if it can be saved again; some sites try to block that as well.

  • Firefox no longer accepts my master password when the browser is launched.

When I launch firefox it normally asks for my master password. That's fine, I've set a master password for myself but now when I go to enter it and hit OK nothing happens. I have to hit cancel at the prompt for a master password for the browser to launch. At that point if I go and change the master password it accepts my password and I'm now "logged in" to the password database. I can repeat this process every time I restart the browser.

Resetting my master password with that method doesn't fix the problem. Once I set a master password again I encounter the same problem as before. The password prompt that appears upon starting Firefox does not accept my password.
edit: I've solved it. An add-on that was using the master password needed to be re-installed.

  • I did something to cause Firefox to no longer remember my password for a URL. How to convice Firebox to remember it again?

I had firefox remember my password for a website I subscribe to. I changed the password recently and firefox won't remember the changed password.

*Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
*Highlight an entry in the drop down list
*Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
If the name doesn't change and you only need to change (update) the stored password then fill the name in the login form and let Firefox fill the wrong password.<br />
You may have to press the Tab key to fill the password field with the old password.<br />
If you replace the wrong password with the new password then Firefox should offer to store the new password via the pop-up dialog from the key icon on the location bar (Firefox 3 versions show a bar at the top).
Use the Remember Password bookmarklet on websites that use "autocomplete=off" to prevent Firefox from saving passwords.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/User_name_and_password_not_remembered (bookmarklet)
Verify that Firefox has stored the new password.
    * Firefox > Preferences > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
If that didn't work then remove that name and password in the Password Manager.

  • Safari and Mail no longer remember my passwords

Safari and Mail no longer remember my passwords. Worked yesterday. Recently updated to 10.5.1 and added Text Expander and PTHPasteboard. Turned them both off. Rebooted. Running 10.5.1 on Intel Pro Mac. Ran First Aid on Keychain Access and says its ok. The login Keychain is unlocked.

There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page.<br />
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.<br />
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you and you need to sign in once again.
