Firefox not displaying text properly

The text doesn't display properly. I reset firefox, reinstalled graphic driver and even unchecked "Use hardware acceleration when available" Nothing worked

What font is used to display this text?
You can right-click on a web page and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
You can check the font used for selected text in the Font tab in the right pane of the Inspector.

This can be a problem with the font that is used to display the text.
You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.

PDFs not displaying text properly when going Mac- PC

We have a serious issue all of a sudden where AI files using Futura being converted to PDF are NOT showing up properly when viewed on PCs. This user is running 10.4.11, CS3 and Font Reserve. When she exports to PDF, random letters will be missing from the PDF file. This cost us a LOT of money last week when a file was sent out for printing. If they convert the fonts to outline prior, it works fine.
We didn't have this issue, ever, until the last week or so. As far as any of us know, NOTHING has changed in our environment.
I also had the user try to run the AI file through Distiller instead of "Save As PDF0", and it just errors out each time.
Any ideas?? Font issues are by far my biggest weakness, so it's a royal pain for me to figure out. Although, I don't even know if this is a font issue or not. Help!

From what program? No version of illustrator can "Export" to PDF. They all Save to PDF. This is more than an issue of semantics. If someone says they are "exporting" to PDF they might not be using Illustrator. An Illustrator user would not refer to "exporting" PDFs because that's not something they can do.

Safari does not display text on some sites.

I am running OSX 10.10.2 and Safari 8.03
Some sites I visit do not display text at all.
For example: This site (http://neflin.org/) looks fine in Chrome, Firefox, whatever. But in Safari, it has no text at all. See below.
Mail is having difficult with some text in html email too.
I have rebooted, reset the PRAM, deleted preferences and turned off extensions. I checked the Guest account and created a new account and in all cases the problem persists.
I have validated fonts in Font Book, restored standard fonts and looked for duplicates. Nothing.
Flash and Java are up to date.
Any thoughts?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Chromium not displaying github properly.

I am on arch linux with the newest chromium. It does not display github properly, even though I have installed the ttf packages that I read fixed rendering issues. BPS Variable-Cost Element is not displaying Text

Dear Team,
We have a peculiar issue one of the BPS Variable defined for Cost Element is not displaying text in one of the Planning Layouts.
Another variable is displaying text in another layout.
Surprisingly...when I reused the old variable in the new layout it is also not displaying the text.
Am I missing something....appreciated your quick support.

Have you check the layout Lead-Column setting? Is it set to 'Key/Description'?

Firefox not displaying buttons and boxes when allow other pages to use their fonts instead of my selection is not selected. The irritating thing is that Firefox used to display pages until FF 31. Please fix this

The missing icons are supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) as you can probably see by little boxes that show the hex code of the characters.
You will have to make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts to see such an icon font.

Firefox not displaying fonts and sizes properly

In firefox the fonts are not displaying properly they are either bold or small and bold some text is displayed normally but most is not most is either really small or bold. This is also the case for IE, im on windows 7 running latest versions. However Chrome, Opera and Safari all display correct fonts and sizes it is just firefox and IE that are affected. And yes everything from font size to page size is at default so please dont reply with zoom in and out thanks.

You can try different default fonts.
Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced

You can also try to disable hardware acceleration.
Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
But it is back to how it was thank you very much!

Firefox not displaying web page icons properly unless in safe-mode

Hi. We are developing a website at the moment and unless I have FF in safe-mode some of the icons do not display properly. All other browsers work fine and it used to display in FF with no issues. The website is www.livingonmars.com and the icons are the 2 arrows in the top right hand corner of the slideshow. When in safe-mode I see both of the arrows. When started in normal mode I see the bottom half of the left arrow and the top half of the right arrow.

In safe mode, hardware acceleration and add-ons are disabled. You may want to try to disable you add-ons one by one to see if that helps or you can disable hardware acceleration by performing the below:
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Firefox 3.5.5 will not display gotoAndStop properly when a Mask is involved

I've created a Flash CS3 animation that has a mask moving across a graphic to simulate a horizontal scrolling fade-in effect. I'm using ActionScript 3 to set a Shared Object and the gotoAndStop method to move to the last frame in the animation so it only plays the first time the user sees the website.
However, in Firefox 3.5.5 the animation is not showing up properly when the page is reloaded. For whatever reason, the mask is acting as if it's never moved and therefore does not show anything after that point. In all other browsers the animation skips properly to the end, thus showing the correct end result. It also works properly in the stand alone Flash player.
I've posted this on the Firefox forums as well just in case it's something on Firefox's end of it.
Anyone have any ideas on why this behavior is happening?

I've been able to replicate this several times with a few different animations. It seems that the problem lies with Firefox 3.5.5, however the folks on those forums seem to think it's a problem within Flash itself. I'd appreciate an official inquiry/response as this is prohibiting me from using Flash in the capacity for which it's needed.

Apache FOP not displaying Cyrillic properly

Hi,
I am using apache FOP to generate pdfs' in Russian. I have embedded the fonts into the application but the output is being displayed as html numerical codes.
The html numerical codes are stored in the database but I am unable to render them properly. I know the fonts are embedded correctly because when I apply the fonts to English text, Russian characters are displayed in the pdf correctly.
e.g the Russian characters are displayed like this:
прод... etc
Why are my codes not displaying properly ? I'm a bit lost at this point.

To clarify things a bit. My web page is submitting Russian text which is being stored in an Oracle database. This text is being stored in the &#xxxx; format. This formatting is displayed properly in a web browser but I am using Apache FOP to produce a pdf and the Russian text is not being displayed as the Russian characters but as the relative &#xxxx; codes. So these codes are not being translated back into their Russian Cyrillic symbols.
I have configured FOP and embedded the Cyrillic TTF but these codes are still not displayed. I can apply the Cyrillic font style to English text and Russian characters are displayed so it seems that that cyrillic TTF is embedded properly.
I am not generating an serialized xml file but rather creating a javax.xml.transform.dom.DOMSource object and with my xsl file I create the pdf code snippet below:

Safari will not display text

Why does Safari not display the main text section of the following web page? This happens with Safari for Mac and Windows. Obviously the site is done with a MS-compatible design tool. Is there an easy change that I can suggest to the site's webmaster or is there a 'plugin' that can be used by Safari to allow visibility?

Firefox/Camino are more forgiving for bad code and the sites works with these browsers.

Safari 4.0.3 not displaying text correctly

Hi all, I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (along with everyone else) and ever since certain code will NOT display correctly.
This is what is displayed by safari when viewing text from a "code" tag.

I have tried troubleshooting and fixing this problem by reinstalling both Safari 4, and Snow leopard to no avail, I have also verified and repaired permissions.

SOLUTION FOUND!
I searched the forums and found our solution here:

Basically, go to your Applications and open Font Book. If this is the case, you have two sets of Courier running. Scroll down to where Courier is and click the drop down triangle to see it's different styles. I then sort of just guessed and checked this next move but it did the trick. Find the Courier Regular that does NOT give a sample display of our beloved ABCs. Right click that "bad" version of Courier Regular and choose the Remove or Delete Option and verify with an OK. It should get rid of all the bad versions and the warning triangles. Try out a page in Safari and it should look as good as any other browser now.

Help, Safari not displaying images properly

I think I have narrowed the issue down to the display:inline-block that i have going on, but i thought this was supported in safari 4. Can anyone tell me why this sites images are not showing up properly?

It shows up perfectly in firefox and in ie8. I haven't tested in others as i am currently lacking resources, but from what I am seeing, the images show up really tiny in safari most of the time. Sometimes it will render them properly, sometimes it will only render 1 or 2 of them properly. Very weird. Chrome has the same issue, but is a little better about it.

Thank you for your reply. This is a site that I am designing, I know not much to look at, lol. The images are just there to test (and are not mine). I need to make sure that the site shows up properly or at least close enough on most browsers. It's weird that sometimes, it will show up properly and if I hit refresh it will get thrown out of whack, or if it's all screwed up and I refresh it will look ok again. I don't understand, why the images are showing up very tiny. I mean, I look at the page source and the code looks good, so why is this not showing up properly... ARRRRRGGGGHH!!!!

Safari not displaying Facebook properly

Since yesterday, Safari stopped displaying Facebook properly. I get a white page with no formatting, just a column of links. That is the only site I have problems with. All others seem to work fine and Facebook displays properly if I'm using Firefox. ???

Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Text is not displayed / Text wird nicht angezeigt

Working with FM 11 I've got a longer text written with an older FM-version with some headings and paragraphes that are not displayed. It's just free space or lines and in some cases it's underlined like misspelled words but the characters are not visible. Paragraph- and character-formats look normal (that is black text on white background) and the text is not conditional. BUT the text is displayed in the Markers-Pod, when I mark a passage and it's even possible to find words in these paragraphs searching for them. I would appreciate any hint, how to deal with this problem.

Sometimes I encounter a bug (FrameMaker 11.0.2.348) which also hides some text. I have a two-column layout with columns balanced. Usually some text is hidden at the end of the second column. When I add some empty paragraphs after the hidden text, the text appears again.
MIF washing does not help.
Luckily pages with hidden text have the Overflow property set. The bottom line of the text frame is solid. I wrote a FrameScript which checks for such pages.
I do not know, if your problem has the same cause.
