Firefox not installed

iCloud sends me to Internet Explorer for iCloud.com, and says Firefox is not installed. I'm writing this issue from within Firefox...

Hi Ellie111, boot the computer in [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows Safe mode with network support] (press F8 on the boot screen) and then see if that helps.
Most often issues like that are caused by a firewall or/and security software which doesn't recognize new Firefox (and for that blocks the new firefox version). You have to remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.{In windows safe mode with networking, security software is disable}
thank you

  • Firefox not installing on Windows 8 desktop

I'm running Windows 8 on a Sony Vaio laptop.
I'm trying to install Firefox in desktop mode but it's not working - the installation file downloads fine, then when you try to run it, the file extracts, then nothing happens.
    Please help.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u>:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Firefox not installing, extraction runs then nothing happens.

When I try to upgrade to Firefox 4 the little extracting window pops up for about 3 seconds, disappears then nothing happens. I have tried running it as admin, disabling my real-time scanning and firewall, uninstalling Firefox, but nothing works. I am running windows 7 (64-bit) and have never had a problem like this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_14 for Mozilla browsers
That's a fairly old version of Java. Try installing the latest Java 1.6.0_26 version.

  • Trying to install firefox on my windows computer, it says need to completely uninstall previous firefox. needs to restart. when cimputer comes back on firefox not installed.

Try to install FireFox computer says needs to reboot to uninstall deleted FireFox , when computer restart no install.

Had the same drama with Windows 7 64 bit this is what I was told to do and it worked for me!!
Close all applications and reboot the computer.
Delete any downloaded or partially downloaded installer files.
Clear the browser cache (of whatever browser you are using to download FF) and the Windows Temp directory.
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Shutdown any anti-virus software you are running.
Download a new copy of the full installer from www.mozilla.com
    Run the installer.
    Restart the anti-virus program.

  • Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77 will not install on mozilla firefox 27.0.1

I am using Windows XP.  I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77 and installed it on my computer.  I opened Mozilla Firefox 27.0.1 and went to Youtube.  I clicked on a video to watch and received the following:
The Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback.
    Get the latest Flash Player.
I opened Control Panel of my computer and saw that Adobe Flash Player is indeed installed.  So why is Firefox not using it?

It seems to work in my system. However, to get a reasonable answer you should ask in the Flash forum and not this one.

  • Everytime firefox updates I loose my Blue Mountain access. the pop-up reads Create & print plug-in could not install because it is not compatable with firefox 4.0.1

went to use create & print in bluemountain got "In order to use create & print in Mozilla you must download and install latest version. Do you want to install plug-in?" (clicked OK). Next message was "Firefox prevented this site (www.bluemountain.com) from asking you to install software on your computer" (clicked Allow) Next message "Create & Pring plugin could not install because it is not compatible with firefox 4.0.1" -- this sound like a firefox problem not bluemountain. Please help... I am paying to use bluemountain and firefox is not letting me get my $$$$ worth out of that site.

Launch Disk Utility in /Utilities. Then, click on the volumes under the top-level disk. The one that has this listed on the bottom is the boot volume.

  • Firefox 4.0.1 new features did not install.

I installed Firefox ver. 4.0.1 but everything looks the same as before the install. The only noticeable difference is that the '''Home Button''' did move from the middle to the right side. When I check '''About Firefox''', it does list the version as 4.0.1. When I click on '''Check for Updates''', it says, “Firefox is up to date” When I click on '''Download Firefox''', it says I am already running 4.0.1
According to the TAKE THE TOUR site, the most obvious missing features are:
    1) '''Firefox Button '''which should be in the upper left-hand corner
    2) '''Bookmark Button''' which should be to the right, next to the '''Home Button'''.
Also, there is no “one click” button for Private Browsing, the Awesome Bar does not seem to have the extra features as described, and new sites do NOT open as Tabs,
According to Firefox 4.0.1 is compatible with Windows 2000 so it should not be a problem with the operating system. One other tip, I did try to upgrade one of the Add-ons (AniWeather) which has been updated to be more compatible with 4.0.1. It would not install because of missing dll’s. This seems to be one more clue that 4.0.1 did not fully install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're welcome. Yep, it is a shame that Mozilla didn't document the lack of the orange Firefox button on WinXP and W2K, but there ain't that many of us still using those older operating systems any longer. I switched from W2K to WinXP last summer when the 4.0 betas were broken on W2K ''(hand writing on the wall)'', that was fixed a few weeks later, but support for W2K is iffy going forward into the future, they have all but stopped testing on W2K. If Mozilla changes something that W2K and WinXP SP 1 & 2 don't support they're not going to be supported any longer, but they claim that they aren't going to stop support on purpose.

  • Every time I launch Firefox it pops up an error stating "Firefox could not install this item because "install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem."

Firefox could not install this item because "install.rdf" (provided by the item) is not well-formed or does not exist. Please contact the author about this problem.
The statement above is in the pop up error box every time, when I launch Firefox. If I click ok in the box Firefox then opens. How do I fix this initializing/launch problem?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />

I am using Firefox 3.6.8. Oddly, my problem appeared a few hours PRIOR to Firefox automatically installing the latest updates (the week ending 7/23), not afterwards. The problem is this: the browser continues to display tabs, the reload/home/history/favorites icons, URL field and Google search field while in full-screen mode, so it's not really full-screen anymore. How can I correct this?

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

  • I can not install firefox 6 in my laptop (windows 7 64 bit), whats wrong?

I have tried to install other versions of firefox to install but it is not working. my OS is windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit. Is any version of firefox compatible with windows 7 ultimate, 64 bit?

What other versions have you tried. Several of us and my family members had complete success installing [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/5.0/win32/ FireFox 5.0] over top of FireFox 6.xx and thus solving all the problems with the current FF versions.
This is on Win 7 64x (my computer), my wife's Vista machine and a friends older WinXP computer.
Provide some detail on your previous efforts, perhaps someone here can help.

  • Firefox will not install. I keep getting a message that I have to restart my computer in order for updates to a previous version can be installed.

Every time I restart the computer and try to install firefox the same message keeps appearing. I attempted to uninstall the earlier version of firefox using "programs and features" in windows but the same message came up and thus I was unable to uninstall using that method. I have used a third party uninstall program which appeared to delete all traces of firefox including registry entries but I still have the same problem.
I am now in the position of not being able to load any version of firefox. HELP

Same problem here. I installed version 4.0, then removed it and tried to install 3.6. Now no version Firefox will not install. I keep getting a message that I have to restart my computer in order for updates to a previous version can be installed.

  • Acrobat X Pro does not install PDF toolbar in Firefox, but does in IE.  How to fix?

Also, I see that Acrobat X Pro does not install all plugins.  There are several that I want shown as not installed.  But how can I get these installed, as there is no button to say "install this"??

Got a partial fix - In Firefox, the Adobe PDF Toolbar gets installed in "Disabled" mode.  To enable, go to "Tools->Add-ons->Extensions", select "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF" and enable it.
Now, as for the rest of the Acrobat plugins, I'm still trying to find a way to enable them.  Any ideas?

  • Firefox home will not install on my iPhone

Firefox Home shows up as "purchased" in my apps listings for/on my iPhone 3G but will not install on my phone either through iTunes syncing or through my iPhone apps application. What is wrong? All other apps install, deinstalled, and reinstall fine. The app used to work fine, but one day I noticed it was missing from my phone and now it won't reload.

Strange - You can't even install it directly on the phone from the App Store. Have a look [http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702 this Apple troubleshooting article]. Beyond that, Apple would probably be better equipped to help you.
