Firefox not loading thumbnails on some websites

On many websites, like imageboards, or even sites with icons and other small images, Firefox doesn't load these images.
All I see is a blank box, and in the top left corner it shows an image icon (this would be a ripped image icon if the image could not be found).
The links all work fine, and the full-size image always loads fine, but this is very annoying as its defeating the whole purpose of these galleries.
Often the website loads fine, but as I go further into more pages, the images stop loading; sometimes ones that have been previously loaded too.
I've tried clearing caches, DNS caches, etc. no luck. None of these websites are blocking images (right click -> block images from site), and I have no adblocking plugins or software.
Sites like:
Deviant Art
Imageboards
Facebook (galleries)

Did you check the images properties?<br />
It is possible that the images are from another domain.
*A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (<i>Site Identification</i> icon) on the left side of the location bar.
*A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Open the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Page Info" window.
*Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Also make sure that you allow background images:<br />
Firefox > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors: Colors > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

You can use these steps to block images from a specific domain:
    * Open the web page that has the images in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If you want to block images then place check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" to block the images from that domain.
You can set the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions

I am unable to block images on certain websites permanently. However, I can block images temporarily for a session through Option > Content > Load images automatically but whenever i clean the browser history or close down firefox the customized list that i entered disappear and i am back to square and again manually enter websites one by one and the same thing happens again.

  • Thumbnails on some websites will not show up

I have Firefox 22 & WinXP Pro. Some websites will not show a thumbnail picture on my home page. I have read all the articles on thumbnails & none of them help. I have cleared the cache, loaded the page by left clicking the blank thumbnail & letting it load. They are NOT https sites & I do not use private browsing. The sites WILL show pictures on my homepage in Google Chrome, so it's not the website. I will try to attach a screenshot, but I do not see a browse button. Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Cor-el:
Thanks for responding. I went to Tools/Page Info, but couldn't find a "general" category. The website http://www.bridgeclues.com/ does show up in Chrome & used to show up in Firefox. How can I tell if there's a no-store or no-cache header?

  • How do prevent firefox from loading(going to) a website(following a link, etc...) that i never want to see again(example: choose now & click on some link in the future)?

I go to a website(link, etc...) & I never want to go there again, but sometime(anytime) later I come across some page that seems to be useful. I click on a link, and the other required links until I find that it is a waste of time & I then kind of remember having been there in the past & have wasted all this time again. This happening for many different sites over time.
How do I prevent firefox from loading(going to) all websites that I choose to go to when I have in the(distant) past decided that I never wish to return to: block websites with message saying that I blocked it?

    Hello Cen.
You need to find an extension that blocks certain sites. I am certain there are many. Search over at [http://addons.mozilla.org addons.mozilla.org].
    I hope you find it.
If you need help, just ask.

    Hi,
If the history or download folder has grown causing the slowdown, then clear the history by going to ‘Tools > Downloads’ and opt to ‘Clean Up’.
If this does not solve the problem, delete the downloads.rdf file completely.
If Firefox is attempting to save downloads to non existing folder, then reset the location by navigating to “about.config” from Firefox address bar and reset “browser.download.lastDir”. Or create a new download folder in the settings.
Sometime Firefox may be stuck in an infinite loop due to badly written codes in sites with Java or Flash.
To confirm this, open the same site with explorer or other browsers.

  • Firefox not loading any pages.

Firefox not loading any pages either when typing a url, dragging a .webloc into it or searching anything in its google field.  It just stays at the Also, when I try to open a .webloc file "open with", Firefox is not one of the options.  Furthermore, when I go to the "open with">"other..." route, Firefox is not selectable.  I've repaired permissions in Disk Utility, updated Flash and reinstalled the latest Firefox and restarted the computer with no success.  Also, another odd thing is when I double-click a .weblock file, it opens up in Fireox to a blank white page, even though its set to open in Safari as the "open with" default.  This is clearly an issue related to the computer, not Firefox.  Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If this is one Mac on a Network with your own Router, reconfigure the Router to have your ISP's DNS "magic numbers", then disconnect and reconnect your Mac. Your Mac should pick up the numbers from your Router.
If this is one Mac without a Router, use:
System Preferences > Network > (Internet interface) > Advanced ...
to enter your ISP's "magic numbers" for DNS.
If you prefer, you can use OpenDNS servers instead:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Make certain you do not have any bogus, old, dead numbers ahead of the ones you want to be using -- they will be used first in the order they appear.

  • My Muse site is not loading properly on some users machines. Any ideas why?

My site: www.mdesignfreelance.com is reportedly not loading properly for some people. I can't replicate it; it performs just fine on all my browsers on Mac and Windows. Adobe support tested it on their end and it loaded just fine on all the browsers they tested. So now I'm here asking the community if anybody might be able to see the problem. Thank you for any help.

Do you have details of user machines on they are facing issue with site loading ?
If you can provide the details or OS, version of OS , browser details etc then we can try to investigate on our end.

  • Firefox will not load https (and other websites)

    Hello everyone.
I'm running Firefox 18.0 on Windows 7 (64bit). Out of the blue, it started not loading certain webistes. It just spits out blank pages, or does not react when clicking login buttons. The web console will display a GET-message [for facebook: http/1.1. 302 Found 174ms], but hard reloads (CTRL+F5) do not help either.
So far, I have encountered problems with :
    - Facebook (blank page)
    - Amazon (will not react upon "login")
    - GMX (will not react upon "login")
    - Mozilla.org (will not let me download Firefox anew OR create a support account)
    - My university's library catalogue (will not react upon "login")
    - Any of my university's https://-pages
    - The Google search in the Firefox task bar.
    - EDIT: The e-mail confirmation link this board has send me will not load either.
They will load in Internet Explorer, so here's what I did:
    - EVERYTHING from the "Firefox can't load websites, but other browsers can" page, including
Removing and readding FF to my Firewall exceptions,
    changing proxy settings,
    Dis- and enabling IvP6 settings,
    DNS Prefetching,
Clearing cookies, history, browser cache and network cache,
    full system scan
    - Deleting and Reinstalling Firefox
    - Dis- and enabled SPDY in about:config
Please help. I'm at the end of my rope. Thanks.
EDIT: The websites work if I start FF in safe mode. Hope this leads to something.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • Firefox not loading some pages properly?

So I have recently bought a new laptop with Windows 8, and I installed Firefox. For the most part it works fine but I have noticed, for some reason, some webpages do not load properly. It looks as if only the HTML of the site has loaded.
Now I can easily fix this by clearing the cache, but only for the same problem to occur a few hours later and this is really annoying me. The problem still happens in safe mode, and other browsers seem to work fine. I have also tried reinstalling but not a full reset.
Here is a link to what Facebook looks like when this happens: http://oi40.tinypic.com/2gwcbxk.jpg
Please could you help me solve this?

This just started happening to me, on my desktop (Samsung software is not an issue), on '''most''' pages. Only a few, incl. Gmail and Mozilla Start page, load as normal pages, with graphics. One site I visited, from a link in an email, loaded All pages normally, but it's the only one so far.

  • Firefox does not load images on any website. This has been a problem for years

It's not clear why. but only Firefox does not load images on web pages. Works fine on IE
Follow all the troubleshooting steps at
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_don%27t_load
no of it works. Never has. I see this problem all over. It's the main reason that users don't switch to Firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.
