Firefox on Linux wants to use notepad.exe to display a C source

I'm using Firefox 20.0 on two mostly identical i686 Linux systems (Crux 2.8). On system A, Firefox displays a local C source normally. On system B, it asks which external program it should use, and suggests notepad.exe (!!) as the default.
What on earth could make Firefox running on Linux think it is on a Windows system??
Neither re-installing Firefox nor moving my .mozilla directory changed this behaviour.

There are two possibilities for high resolution with the new iMac;
The Apple or 3rd party mini-DisplayPort to DVI-D single-link adapter has a maximum supported resolution of 1920 x 1200. Use a DVI-D single-link to HDMI cable if you have HDMI ports on your TV.
The Apple or 3rd party mini-DisplayPort to DVI-D dual-link adapter has a maximum supported resolution of 2560 x 1600. Use a DVI-D dual-link to HDMI cable if you have HDMI ports on your TV.
The better cabling that you purchase the more bandwidth available for transmission and the less digital artifacts in your images. More expensive is not always better quality.

I would just leave them in Word...GR reads many formats very easily.
If our goal is to work on/edit the files it may be useful to look into something like Pages if you have a Mac, and the Pages for iOS devices so you could use the same word processor on both machines.
But if you convert the Word to PDF and then use GR you can still edit the files...GR will edit and annotated PDF files rather easily.

Previously if you install the latest version and run the live update it will run with the latest Firefox 26.

I teach online and firefox is recommended, Recently, the email functions quit working. They work with Explorer but not firefox. I want to use firefox.

Could you check which mail program or site is set to handle "mailto" links and try resetting it:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Applications
In the search box, type or paste '''mailto''' and pause while Firefox filters the list. You should get one row with a drop-down on the right that lets you choose your mail program or site. If your program is not selected, go ahead and change it now. If it is already selected, try refreshing the setting by changing to another program or site and OK out of the dialog. Then go back and change it back.

Sorry, Hello is not for making "phone calls", as such. It is a browser to browser form of video / audio "chat" communication, using the WebRTC API.

Using MBP monitor to display from another source

Might be a dumb question, but is it possible to use my MBP monitor as if it were a stand-alone monitor? I've got a a laptop that the backlight went out on, but everything else works fine, and would like to be able to use it as a secondary computer that I could still have all my music and stuff like that on. Thanks if anybody has any insight.

No i'm afraid unless you plan some serious hacking. there are no video in as such ports on the MBP.

I want to use my 20" Cinema Display (Alu) with my black MacBook.
I use the mini-DVI to DVI adapter. Can i plug in the Display while the Mac is running (and the Display too) or do i have to switch off both befor connecting them ?
I dont want a answer like "yes i always do this and nothing is broken so far". I want to know if it is specified by Apple this way. Because i dont want to break the MacBook after connected it 100 times while running and then it dies and the warranty is over.

Using BADi's BBP_PGRP_FIND and BBP_WF_LIST for Sourcing

   We are running on SRM 5.0(SP6),Strategic Sourcing scenario.
Our process is as follows:
1.Transfer of PR's from R/3 to SRM.We are setting 3 definate Purchase groups in the requisition whcih we are transferring. (001,002,003 - depending on doc type and prod cat. )
2.ORG Plan in SRM has got three Purchase groups whcih are linked to the above backend purchase groups.
Requirement is that while transferring the PR's from R/3 to SRM,system should set the field "<b>proc_group-objid</b>" in SC based on the Purchase group that is set in the PR in R/3.
In short while processing the SC's from Sourcing cockpit, we need to control the creation of Bid Invitation for each user based on the responsible purchasing group he is assigned to.
Also i know that BADI BBP_WF_LIST can be used to restrict the display list in Sourcing cockpit but how can the authorization for the user be used for restricting him to create Bid invitation for other Purchase groups?

1)
I guess, it can be possible with a mix of custom BADI Implementations.
Try the BADIs -> BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK
                         BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI
                         BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI
in your case to code the logic.
2_ For the case of BBP_WFL_LIST BADI ->
Based on the system attributes of the Ogr User we can control the List display. But it needs a quite trick logic.
If possible, send me the detailed requirements. I will try to help you out.

That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM. Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
Is slim involved? Probably. That is the source of many problems. But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx". Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit. That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult. So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc. This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic. Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them. Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
Edit: adding one more:
4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox. I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

Instead of running firefox.exe, computer asks me to "choose the program you want to use to open this file".

When I click on either the firefox shortcut or firefox.exe in the Mozilla folder, instead of running, the computer asks me to "Choose the program you want to use to open this file: firefox.exe". The recommended program is Adobe Reader 9.1, which obviously doesn't help.
I have uninstalled firefox and downloaded it again, but now I am trying to run Firefox Setup 4.0.exe, and it asks me again to "Choose the program you want to use to open this file: firefox setup 4.0.exe" Help?

This is a registry problem with your .exe entry
The below program worked for me on my vista machine.

You can download an exe file from there that automatically sorts the issue or you can edit the registry manually.
