Firefox on my laptop will not open. I recently reset it.

I recently reset Firefox on my Lenovo laptop with Windows 7. I did this because it had become extremely slow after an application called "conduit" became a part of the start-up. I couldn't get rid of conduit. I do all my work in the lenovo so I am really perplexed by this behavior. Now Firefox just hangs and never connects to the internet. I am using my Dell desktop to write this.

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware.

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Unless it has worked since the upgrading, I believe you should uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

I've just updated firefox and now it will not open at all. Please help!

I use gmail and a couple of days ago I started having trouble accessing it and in fact any google related site. Apparently my version of firefox was not supported so I updated to the current version this morning but then found that firefox would not open at all. There are no error messages. I have tried restoring my settings to those of yesterday but although my system says I have returned to the old version 3.5.15 it still will not open. I can now only access the internet by using an ancient version of Microsoft Internet Explorer - which is also not supported by gmail. Although I'm limping on I could really do with some help!!

I have tried everything that has been suggested and even deleted and downloaded Firefox again and it will not open. Any ideas on how to get it to open?

I have been trying to get Firefox to open up and everytime I double click on the icon nothing happens. I have gone to the task manager and deleted it from the process list and tried again and still will not open. I have downloaded the new Firefox 4 but it will not open and i have tried to uninstall and reinstall the new version.

I have tried 8 to 10 times to uninstall and reinstall Firefox 4. I have since checked my firewall settings and firefox is allowed. It simply just will not open for me. I submitted the crash report all 3 times it crashed successfully. But now, Firefox will not open at all,not even in safe mode.
I have looked through any suggestions and nothing works. I can't even get the profile manager to open to test it.
I would like to roll back to a previous version, IF that will solve this problem,but it's my bookmarks that I want to save. I don't want to lose them. But how can I import them if I can't even get FF to start?
I did see a folder called bookmark backups or something, but for some reason it isn't showing all of them.

Forefox 16.0.2 on MAC OSX 10.8.2 with most current Adobe Shockwave Flash will not open You Tube videos. Photo of video shows, it seems to load, but then nothing happens. I have gone through all the suggestions on your site and spent a great deal of time and still cannot reach a solution. This is very maddening, as much as I love Firefox.

Firefox 7 and 8 will not open, I have to revert back to 4 to get it to start

Everytime firefox upgrades it will not open. No error, just no response. this happened on all updates to 7 and now 8. Each time I have to reload 4. The only advice I found was to somehow set the antivirus. I had McAfee. I completely removed it, but no joy. I now run Symantic Endpoint Protection, but it still doesn't matter. I have a Dell D610 running XP Pro 5.1.2600
