Firefox opens and just sits there until i have to manually alt F4 top close it

we have updated all plugins and uninstalled and re installed and still it wont move. It start out ok for a few seconds and then just freezes

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

After install of Mavericks, it looks like my system kernal panics and just sits there. I tried waiting over two nights. Tried reinstalling twice, booting r/s. Recovery partition now has Mavericks as OS. Im running a iMac i3 27 inch circa 2011. Any ideas?

Tried reinstalling twice, booting ro the repair partition and repairs permissions/drive/verify , with no problems. Tried reseting PVRAM(or whateverit called). Recovery partition now has Mavericks as OS. Im running a iMac i3 27 inch circa 2011. Any ideas? Can still bootcamp into windows.

The file seems to create the CD/DVD/Image and USB just fine. So I used this only to create a CD image which I then wrote on a blank CD which seems to work fine. Also, I played around a bit and had some partial success in booting the partition. I've updated my original opening post with the new findings.
Whew!! what a waste of time! Never want to do all of this again .

Dashboard quit working and just sits there

Brand new macbook pro 15" Retina came with os 9.0 (Mavericks), after one week dashboard quite working, all the widgets look like they aren't getting online. WiFi works with the rest of the computer. Threw them all away and reinstalled the widgets. Still just sitting there. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I should also add that I have thrown away the .plist's to no avail. I add a world clock and what I get is the clock without a second hand, arms, location. just a white circle with 1 through 12 around it.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

Trying to play Farmville/Frontierville and it goes to the game and just sits there and wont open

When I click on Farmville or Frontierville it takes me to the game area but does not load the game. It works fine with other browsers so why not Firefox?

Don't those games require Flash? 
You either don't have it installed or it is disabled. IE uses a different version of Flash ''(ActiveX)'' than other popular browsers need - the Plugin version.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here:

Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit 
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,

3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

Mail keeps getting stuck checking mail and just sits there

My dad's dual G5 is having weird mail problems. When you open Mail, it initiates the checking the mail procedure. The Activity Viewer says that it is checking X out of 1700 at this point and it gets to 71 and then hangs on one spam message written in Russian. He has his laptop set up to check this same email account (Pop mail on our virtual server) and it is still working fine, so I think its something on his version of Mail on that computer.
Any suggestions?
If we reinstall Mail, will his messages disappear?
Is there a preferences file to throw away like in the old days?

Are there 1700 messages on the server? What are his Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings for this account?
Sometimes messages left on the server clog up the account there, or Mail chokes on a message it cannot download and that prevents it from downloading the rest as well. Solving this problem will probably require removing one or more messages from the server.
You may tell Mail to remove from the server all the messages that have already been downloaded by means of Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove now. Alternatively, you may use the Account Info window to remove specific messages from the server — choose Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailbox list in the main Mail window. And if the account allows web access, you may also remove messages from the server that way.
Try removing from the server messages that have already been downloaded and/or the first message not downloaded yet (i.e. the message that Mail appears to be choking on).

I have a MacBook Pro, it recently started freezing upon startup. It would get to a blue screen and just sit there. I've tried booting in safemode to run disk repair and still doesnt help. If I do manage to get past the blue screen, it still freezes

If I manage to get past the blue screen, and open up youtube on google chrome, it will freeze before it loads youtube. I've tried safeboot and disk repair, nothing seems to work. I even tried to factory reset it but it wont connect to my internet when I reboot with power + option.. any ideas?

This can be used to boot the machine and delelte enough files to get it to boot normally.

Does not happen all the time. Many time works no problems. When having problems seems to be that way for a while not just one email. Just did an email and wheel was spinning and trying to send. "Can't log on to server" I believe is what comes up. Hit cancel, went into sent file to see if went thru(sometimes it does when it says it didn't send) Not in sent file, started new email and redid it and it sent fine???
Have been told looks like thunderbird issue and not Provider?
My sent file is small. Thought this might be contributing so deleted most of old that I did not move in to client folders.

If it doesn't work at one time, but does again work later, it's unlikely the problem is with Thunderbird.
You may try to disable email scanning in your anti-virus software.

It sounds like it's gone into recovery mode. How were you trying to update it, directly on it of via your computer's iTunes ? If directly on it then have you tried conencting it to your computer's iTunes ?

When i hit the home button on any particular page, the home page appears on the bar, but it just sits there, doing nothing with a blank screen....

Verify that the battery is charged (connect to the supplied charger & cable for a couple of hours).
Reset your device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

These are apps for the iphone/ipod/ipad.
They do not work on your computer.
You need to sync them to your iphone/ipod touch/ipad and use them from there.

In Windows 7 Itunes loads and runs fine. When I close it down and try to get back in it just sits there. It won't work until I reboot the computer.

Let's see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, make sure you do this below to prevent same problem after restarting windows:
Go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
