Firefox opens in a tiny page and I cannot reset except by dragging each time

Each time I open Firefox, it is a barely visible 1" by 1" page or less. I can drag sideways and down to eventually make it into a full page. But each time it goes back to the small page when reopened. I can make it work, but it is time-consuming and annoying.

Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
Delete localstore.rdf or rename the file to localstore.rdf.sav in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to test if the file is corrupted.<br />

(caution: do not delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox program installation folder)
Note:
Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.<br />
You can rename "localstore.rdf" to "localstore.rdf.sav" to test if that solves it.<br />
Then you can restore the customization by copying "localstore.rdf.sav" to "localstore.rdf" if it didn't work.
Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks that you should update.

Firefox opens in a tiny window and won't resize. Only the upper right had corner displays.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program but I still get the same window that displays the minimize, restore and exit buttons. Exit and minimize work but restore is not available. Resize does not work. I can't get to any controls within the program to make any changes or run a troubleshooter.

Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

Firefox 4 was functioning well until two days ago. Browser will not open to my home page and tool bars do not appear. Was able to find toolbar but "back" button does not work. What changed?

You can change this if you don't mind peeking under the covers into Firefox's about:config preferences editor.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter the desired value:
(i) Page thumbnails (default)

Sometimes Firefox opens with a Google page; how do I get it to stop?

My Firefox preferences are set for it to open to a blank page. But sometimes (not all the time) it opens to a Google search page. What's worse: I may be in the middle of typing something into the Google search window in the toolbar, but half of what I'm typing ends up in the search window in the Google page. Can I open directly to first page, and not the title/TOC? We're using HTML5 content for multiple platforms. It works fine, but takes three steps to get to it. We'd like for the book to start immediately with our imported widget. The current process is clunky for the user. Thank you.

Coincidentally i use Google also ..but i wouldn't like to change it...thanks.. your answer it's being helpful. I solved the problem by changing my Firefox preferences : 1.-PRIVACY 2.- Remember history mode.
Anyway i still think that shouldn't work this way when you are in "Never remember history " mode.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.
