• How do I prevent Mail from opening when I click an email address in Safari?

My wife and I both use Yahoo! Mail. Neither of us uses the Mail app to manage our email. How do I prevent Mail from opening when we click an email address in Safari? Is it possible to direct Safari to open a separate web browser prompting us to log in to our Yahoo! Mail?

Hmm.. probably not.
You want to open Mail. Then go into Preferences > General and you will see something similar to this:
In the area marked Default Mail reader click on the pull down and at the bottom of the list it will say Other. You can see if you can select Safari here and if that will open up Safari.
Good luck.

• Preview in Firefox opens multiple tabs

Dreamweaver CS3 and Firefox 2 preview problem
Start situation:
No browsers open, then previewing page from DW and Firefox
starts and shows the page correctly. Great.
But then when Firefox is already running, previewing causes
three new tabs to be opened in Firefox, all showing the same page.
Not so nice.
Any idea what causes this problem and how to correct it?
I've already tried removing browsers from the preview in
browser list, disabled all extensions.
However, when I change the settings in Firefox so that new
pages open in a new window instead of a tab, only one new window
opens up (not three).
I think it is a problem with DW CS3 and FF together, not a
pure Firefox problem as previewing pages from other page editing
tools (Notepad++, Expression Web, ) no not cause multiple
tabs.

You're probably trying to open a pop up window... but you did
it the
wrong way and that's why multiply windows opens.
URL?

• How do I stop Firefox opening multiple tabs?

I upgraded to version 4 of Firefox. After shutting down the other night, every time I open FF it opens 5 tabs for 5 differient websites - all in my favourites. I haved not asked for this and cannot find a way of turning it off. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling FF and the tabs still appear. A little help would be appreciated.

Check to see if they have been set as home pages, if they have you can change the home page as shown here - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page3

• Firefox opens multiple tabs while clicking on "Manage account" under File- Account in Office 2013 opens the right Tab and another random URL-Tab

I have office 365 installed. When I click on Manage Account under File->Accounts in office 2013, it opens 2 Tabs in Firefox.
Tab1: https://office.microsoft.com/MyAccount.aspx?ver=15&app=winword.exe&MachineKey=02011-005-827906&fromAR=1
Tab2: http://www.4a1.com/ ( which is random)
The version of firefox is 24 and set as the default browser.
Operating System: Windows 7SP1
Already contacted Internet Service provider-Optimum, also the antivirus for security concerns but could not find anything from their end respectively.
The issue occurs on Windows 8 laptop also.

Thank you for your reply.
(FYI: The above question was posted by a ''Microsoft Research Engineer'' and me since neither of us can figure out why this is happening. So the brain-bank on this is pretty big!)
I scanned with all of the above scanners. (Thank you for the links!)
I also scanned my system with Adaware, Super Antispyware, Norton Internet Security 2013, and Norton Power Eraser . . . and Kapersky v14 on the Windows 8 system)
NONE of the scanners reported anything other than the usual trackers.
Firefox was un-installed, re-installed, reverted back 4 versions ''and'' v3. Chrome shows the same result.
The Windows 8 system was wiped and restored. Office 365 was immediately re-installed and showed the SAME behavior except that the "random" 3-character URL was different . . .
. . . This extra Tab ''only'' shows up when I open any Office 2013 product to a New document or worksheet go to File>Account>Manage Account.

• When I click an email address windows mail opens but in the inbox not create mail.

When I click on an email address on a web page Windows Mail opens with the Inbox window not the Create mail window. How do I set to open create mail window.

Hi wayner,
Thank you for your question:
In the Firefox > Options menu under Applications, search for "mailto". From there select the action drop down and select the action.
If you click on the details of the action it should have https://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s
This macro should take you to a compose mail if you are logged in.
If the above information does not resolve your issue, please consider creating a new thread containing the specific details of your issue.

Please, feel free to post the link to your thread on this thread for volunteers interested in assisting you.

• Firefox opens multiple tabs for many web pages.

As many as 30 tabs open and try to load simultaneously. It doesn't do it for every site but enough to be very annoying. It just started doing this very recently.

What is on those other tabs / windows? Sites that you know, or ads?
You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]] article.
'''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/ Adblock Plus]''' {web link}
Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners
and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and
supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).

• Firefox opening multiple tabs from middle clicking on bookmarks.

Almost every time I middle click on one of my bookmarks, two tabs are opened instead of one. I can't figure out why. I've got the latest version of Firefox. I tried clearing the history and cache and everything and it didn't do anything.

Sorry about the confusion.
On Mac you can find them in Firefox > Preferences > Applications

• Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

• I can no longer (since upgrading to the latest firefox) open up multiple tabs of the same page (something I need to be able to do when emailing and referencing multiple emails while writing one email). The only option it gives me is to 'switch to tab'.

Question
I can no longer (since upgrading to the latest firefox) open up multiple tabs of the same page (something I need to be able to do when emailing and referencing multiple emails while writing one email). The only option it gives me is to 'switch to tab'.

I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. (Yes, my 'tools'> 'options'> 'tabs' are set to "open new windows in a new tab." (Please no answers telling me to get rid of the Ask toolbar because I don't have one.) Thank you.

• Can I open multiple tabs in Firefox when WINDOWS starts up? Command line limits to about 204 characters...

I know how to configure Firefox so that it opens multiple tabs every time you open ''Firefox''. I want it to open multiple tabs when I start ''Windows''. Or in other words, I don't want to connect to multiple web pages every time I open a browser, just the first time I log on for the day.
I tried appending the web sites in the command line of a Firefox shortcut in my Windows Startup folder. The problem is that in this approach, you're limited to as many URL's as you can type in about 204 characters ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe' uses up 52 of the 256 characters available in a shortcut).
Is there a way to open more tabbed web sites than that?
What would be cool is if there was something like a FFstartup.ini file or something, where you could provide a list of websites as long as you want, and it would open them all. So, the command line would look like:
'C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe' 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\FFstartup.ini'
...and the FFstartup.ini file would look like:
[Startup]
etc...
If there's no current way to do this, how would I make this suggestion to be developed?
Thank you!

Use a .bat or .cmd file to start Firefox if you need more space than the target line in a shortcut allows.
Separate the URLs with spaces.
start "" "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://www.yahoo.com http://www.google.com http://www.firefox.com

• Why when I open multiple tabs in Facebook, the tabs load very slowly and most times don't load at all?

Why when I open multiple tabs in Facebook, the tabs load very slowly and most times don't load at all?

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
You can try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 255 to a more modest setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

• Firefox ver. 3.6 stopped loading pages of any kind. Even Google or Facebook! Maybe it's because I tried to download a program that didn't even open up. All other browsers work normally.

My Firefox ver. 3.6 stopped loading pages of any kind. Even Google or Facebook! I don't know how this happened. May it is because I tried to download a program that didn't even open up.... But I don't know how to make it work. All other browsers work normally, and I'm scanning for viruses even though my anti-virus did not warn me of anything... I tried to download a keygen and this is what happened. I can't figure out what it is. Not a connection problem. I even tried to uninstall an re-install firefox, but still nothing worked.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

• Firefox on my laptop will not allow me to open multiple tabs, how can I fix this issue?

I usually use firefox and yesterday was downloading a photoshop program called gimp. all of a sudden after downloading it, firefox stops allowing me to open multiple tabs. I click on file and new tab, but it still will not work.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
