Firefox - PDF download

Since loading Snow Leopard, I can't download PDF files in Firefox. They do download in Safari.

I found a fix for that somewhere in the forum. I am using Adobe Acrobat, but it may it may work for the reader, too. Under, Firefox>Preferences>Applications>Portable Document Format, set the application to your version of Acrobat. Preferences will let you browse over to your copy of Acrobat.
I hope it helps.

  • 3 Problems with Firefox: PDFs, Downloads, and Drop Menus

    Three problems.
    1) When I open a PDF in Firefox, where ever the cursor is becomes a kind of anchor from which the PDF file is highlighted. There is no way to deselect this (its like when you click-hold to select text), and it also renders all interface options with Firefox ineffective, requiring a CTRL-ALT-DEL to close Firefox and regain functionality.
    2) When downloading a file, the sub widow asking if you wish to save file or cancel appears, clicking save file greys out that option, and the sub window freezes on top of all other windows. Firefox, however, remains operational. The download never actually starts.
    3) Once a drop down menu has been opened, one can usually find the option they desire and click on it. But I cant, when I try to click on an option in a drop menu, it closes the menu and clicks whatever was behind the menu at the point where I clicked.
More Info: I am running Firefox 8 (I had this problem with 7 as well) on two different laptops. One laptop encounters NONE of these problems, the other does. The one that does have these problems is an ASUS U56E-BBL6 running Windows 7, my other is a Sony VAIO also running 7. Additionally, my roommate also has a ASUS, and he uses Firefox just fine.
Since encountering this problem on the ASUS, I have used IE (which I hate), Chrome and Opera. All three other browsers work perfectly and encounter none of these issues, but I miss the customization of Firefox.
    Please help.

I can't help you much with BlackBerry link, but if you want to get your files on device memory right now then you can either copy to SD card and move them with file manager. Or..... enable wifi access on the phone if you have wireless, that way you can access both device and SD Memory as shared folders on the network.

  • Firefox pdf viewer garbles embedded text on some of our pdfs (on Mac OS Mavericks). They're fine in Safari or when downloaded. This is a major problem.

Firefox pdf viewer messes up text on pdfs and makes them unreadable. These fonts are embedded, so there shouldn't be a problem. The pdfs are fine when viewed in Safari or Chrome browsers. Also fine when viewed through Acrobat. Telling me to change my default browser isn't good enough. Visitors to our web site won't know this.

The latest stable and latest development versions of the built-in PDF viewer are available as an extension and these version can possibly perform better than the version shipped with the current Firefox release.

  • How to add a hand tool (grab the page and drag) function on Chrome and firefox pdf viewer?

To clarify, hand tool is a function for user click on the pdf and dragging around , that is used to replace the scroll bar navigating .
The problem is, by default the Chrome and firefox pdf viewer do not have that function and I would like allow the user to drag the page.
A workaround is to use a jquery plugin (grab to pan https://github.com/Rob--W/grab-to-pan.js in my case) with an embed object (pdf viewer). When I maximum the size of the pdf and user drag the embed object.
The problem I have encounter is
    1) When using chrome/ firefox, the pdf content do not fit to the page but auto resize by default even I have set the adobe pdf open parameter , using iframe.
    2) The jquery seems conflict with the firefox pdf viewer, it works smoothly on Chrome but not firefox.
Here is the source code, you may download the plugin from the link mention above and have a look. Don't forget to put a '1.pdf' along with the source file. Thanks

  • PDF download worked in FFox3 but not in 4. Do I have to wait for a new plug in for PDF files?

I was downloading monthly statements from mutual fund firms. Firefox 4.0 worked fine with the T Rowe Price web site (they must not do anything tricky), but does not work with Fidelity. Firefox doesn't seem to recognize that what Fidelity is offering is really a PDF file. I tested the same action with my same computer and Safari as the browser which worked fine, and I tested the same action with my same computer and Firefox 3.6.16 and it, too, worked fine. Your help screen for PDF files suggest I download "Firefox PDF plugin extension" but when I get there, it says a version for FFox 4 is not available. I probably have that added to my 3.6.16 version and that's why it works there. So I guess I just have to use a different browser until that plugin is available. But it is another puzzle why TRowePrice makes it work with 4.0 and Fidelity doesn't.
Do you have a better suggestion than "just wait" ?

I have never herd of Verizon adding an additional account especially since new account required both a credit check and your signature. Anyway this is a customer to customer forum so I'm not sure how you expect other customers to help you.

  • Open PDF with the built in Firefox PDF Viewer on Google Drive

I can't seem to get PDF Files to open on some websites.
For example I use Google Drive for Documents and to print them you need to use a PDF, I try to open the PDF but it just makes me download it. Is their anyway for this to get working?

You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu.

  • Pdf downloads come in as filename.do.pdf

When I try to download a pdf it will display, which looks different then it used to. The web page shows a notification line that says This document may not be displayed correctly. Also the print and save pop up does not show anywhere.

Current Firefox versions have enabled a new build-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all the features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.

  • Firefox PDF Viewer Displays Specific PDF Incorrectly

I have a PDF hosted on my website that displays incorrectly when loaded in the FireFox PDF viewer. I would like to simply fix the PDF so that it looks correctly. I understand there are ways to circumvent the PDF viewer, but I have not been able to get any of them to work for me. Is there a style guide or something that can help me fix the PDF so it loads correctly on the website?
    The PDF is: http://www.tiresafetygroup.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2013/05/Modern-Tire-Designed-for-Profit-WEB4.pdf

It already looks a lot better in the Latest development version, although I still get the notification bar.

  • My add-on's aren't working since upgrading...are their pdf download and screengrab updates available anywhere?

My 'pdf download' by Nitro and the Screengrab! 0.96.3 is incompatible with FireFox 7.0.1.
Are there other add-on's that will perform these functions that are compatible with the updated version of FF, or will I need to uninstall the latest FF update in order to continue using these features?
Also, Java Console is now disabled and nothing compatible for it either, updates are unavailable....etc.

1.) Locate "C:/Windows/System32/Drivers/etc/hosts". Copy the "hosts" file onto your desktop as a backup if any errors may occur during the process.
2.) As an administrator, open the "hosts" file inside "etc" folder with Notepad and erase the last lines related to gs-apple that looks like this:
    "#127.0.0.1 gs·apple·com"
3.) Restart iTunes if opened and connect your device after it is in DFU mode.
4.) Casually do a restore like normal, and you're done.
5.) After restore is completed, replace the "hosts" file inside the "etc" folder with the backup you've copied onto your Desktop to prevent possible future errors. Hope this works!

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

  • In my "Extra" there is a line: "PDF -download, by Nitro PDF software". When I click on it, appears: "XML-parsefout .." How do I delete a command in "Extra"?

How do I delete something in "Extra", something I didn't put in! (on my desktop).

Gee, Pat, this is a  real big help.
Nobody could possibly think anyone would ask for help without first trying to fix the issue oneself. Or maybe you do. I have opened the file and looked under security. I have changed it to owner-notebook (which is what the techs called me) and clicked accept but geepers it didn't work.
Maybe someone else has an idea.
Take Ownership of a File or Folder
The above should be a link. At least I copied and pasted the link. I did what was stated in there. It isn't like brain surgery. But it is not working. I ended up being able to open some pdf files after transferring them from one partition category to another. I wish it was that easy as you seem to think.
Thanks for the help. Have a great year.
