why only -Os? why not -O2 or even -O3? in other distros (such as SUSE for example) firefox much more optimized and much more faster

I tried firefox-pgo with the 3.6 series. It did feel snappier, but it wasn't worth the 2 hour compile time, that my poor and hot-headed (read get very hot, very fast) p4 had to go through.

FlashHelp perfomance issues in Firefox
RH8 FlashHelp appears to work fine in Internet Explorer. However, when viewing the same project in Firefox, it looks as if everytime you choose a new page from the table of contents the status bar at the bottom of the page processes 15 or 20 times and all of the flash buttons reload. In addition, images are slow to load.
Has anyone run into similar problems with running FlashHelp in Firefox?

I lost all my bookmarks and add ons , firefox sync restore only three addons and no bookmark.
I perfom a format to my computer and install firefox again but sync doesnt work.

Unfortunately Firefox Sync isn't meant to be used as a backup device, but merely to sync data between multiple devices. So it is not guaranteed that you can restore data from the Sync server.

With "smooth scrolling" turned on in the options, touchpad gesture scrolling is smooth in FF9 but only in 5-line-steps. No stopping in between possible. If touchpad scrolling is performed in IE9 once, scrolling in FF9 is completely smooth afterwards. If the gesture is perfomed once in Google Chrome 16 scrolling in FF9 is turned back to 5-step-scrolling. How to fix the SLOW speed & FREEZING of Firefox 5
Firefox 4 worked very well - I was so pleased!l But since downloading the update to Firefox 5, the browser loads sooo slowly and freezes often. I've re-downloaded, restarted, and have to "end program" often. Is there a fix?

Here are a few numbers from SWMBO's U110, running on AC mains:
Cold boot to login screen: 50 seconds.
Login screen to desktop: 20 seconds.
Shutdown from start menu to power off: 20 seconds. (after waiting for system to settle, and some normal use)
Launch FireFox: 8 seconds.
It seems pretty snappy to me. HDTune shows that the little HD isn't all that fast, but for My Lady's use, it's plenty fast enough. You may have very different requirements and expectations.
A few top-of-my-head (or elsewhere on the anatomy) things to check. Some may not be available, I haven't dug that deep.
Both cores enabled in BIOS.
Hard drive mode in BIOS.
Running on AC or battery.
Power plan settings re perfomance.
DMA enabled in Windows (control panel, hardware manager, IDE controller properties).
HD full/nearly full or needing defrag (your clean install should have ruled this out)
Unknown/unexpected services, process, or applications using HD or CPU (check w/task manager)
I'm curious to know how your experience compares with the above. It's always possible that you have some rogue stuff running, Windows is mis-configured, or even that the machine is defective in some way.
From here, it's a nice little machine. (well, as nice as any Vista box can be...) YMMV.

Bring back the logo or something else to allow quick identification of browser. Chrome doesn't have its logo in the browser either so now it going be harder to tell between the two. Is this a contest to see which can be more self effacing?
You can click the 3-bar Firefox menu button and open the Customize window.<br />
At the bottom of this window there is a button to enable showing the title bar.

atualizei o firefox para a versão atual e através da versão antiga não quis atualizar seguindo as instruções desinstalei o navegador e baixei e instalei a versão 36.0.1 disponível apesar de escolher a opção de torna lo navegador padrão na instalação ele informa na aba geral das opções que o firefox não é meu navegador padrão segui todas as instruções disponíveis para isso e não consegui efeito nem pelo painel de controle do windows o que posso fazer ??? agradeço pela atenção e a ajuda em solucionar este problema que é a primeira vez que acontece em três anos de utilização do firefox meu navegador favorito..
Olá, também tivesse esse problema, ou foi mais ou menos assim.
Limpe os rastros do navegador em seu PC, vá em %appdata%, e exclua a pasta "Mozilla", passe um CCleaner na máquina também pra ver se da algo.

I installed Firefox 19.0.2 and appears to be ok, but I don't see a Firefox button anywhere, so I cannot access any of the functions that it controls, such as bookmarks, which is why I installed it!
The ASUS Nexus 7 tablet shows up as a supported platform.
I set it as the default link browser, but quickly realized that I could not enter text into any data entry fields, so I reset the default back to Chrome, which works fine for that.
I installed Firefox because bookmarks in Chrome are very lame, but I can't use bookmarks at all in Firefox, so again Chrome wins.
Any suggestions, before I uninstall it?I am now a Democrat supporter. dccc.org does accept text input from my mobile.
The forum problem I mentioned earlier is apparently a known issue but only affecting legacy phones. -
Installation problem on new macbook pro i7 How do I get a DMG or firefox icon on desktop?
I can't see anything but the name label on the DMG file. The blue dialogue box only has the applications folder in it. I tried installing both 3.6 and 4 beta versions with the same result.
Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.<br />
Open the DMG file and drag to Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.<br />
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.<br />

1. Turn on computer and then click on Firefox icon on desktop.
2. Firefox opens. Everything looks OK. Mr Bunsen's graphic is working fine.
3. Click on any webpage link. For example, a newspaper or an online webmail page. All looks OK until

I was running 4.0 on my Intel Mac (Leopard 10.5.8), and everything was fine. Firefox automatically updated me to 4.0.1. Then I noticed my computer running very slowly. I am unable to quite Firefox without forcing a quit.
Can I reinstall 4.0? If so, where can I download the original version?

Your users agent is stuck at Firefox 3.0.11 due to a extension during when you had 3.0.11 and it tacked on stuff on end and kept it from updating the version number. This was due to the "Fast Browser Search toolbar" extension (FBSMTWB). This issue is not a problem with Firefox 4.0 and newer.

putting a search option in the search box to the right of the address bar opens up the full search window but then Firefox hangs.
Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up by another program that you installed, and those websites don't know you are running Firefox 3.6.3 (which is what you do have installed).
