Firefox plugin breaks after Bluetooth audio switching

Tracked down a bug to the FF flash plugin: On XP sp2 using FF
2.0.0.12 and Flash 9.0.47.0 (rolled back from the 9.0.115.0
disaster) after starting then stopping a Bluetooth audio session
(a2dp), Flash no longer plays audio/video. All the usual sites stop
working (youtube, cnn video, imeem, etc) I can get it to start
working again only by restarting Firefox.
Background info: when using Bluetooth headphones, XP's audio
output is routed to the Bluetooth receiver (in my case, by a
Broadcomm bluetooth stack) After ending the session, the audio is
routed back (eg to the desktop speakers). Flash handles being
routed to the receiver, but not being routed back.
I know it's not FF itself, b/c other FF multimedia plugins
handle the transitions fine (eg. quicktime). I know it's specific
to the FF version, b/c on IE, the flash plugin works fine after
Bluetooth switches.
Anyone have any similar problems? Restarting FF doesn't sound
like a problem, but with many tabs open, it takes forever.
I'll try sending this in to Adobe, but after seeing their
(non)response to the buggy as fcuk 9.0.115.0 player, I doubt they
even test their FF version, let alone follow up on bug
reports.

*bump. Any ideas anyone?

  • Adobe Reader Firefox Plugin

I am running Fedora 8 (kernel 2.6.23.9) with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 on a Core 2 Duo with 2 gigs of ram. When I use the Firefox browser (2.0.0.10) to read a PDF document, a process named acroread is started. I assume this is done by the Adobe Reader Firefox plugin. After you leave the document the acroread process begins to use 40-60 percent of the CPU and never ends. Exiting the browser does not stop the acroread process. It continues to run away. After a couple of attempts the kill command will end this acroread process. At one time I had four of these runaway processes running at once. I assume that every time I entered a PDF document in the browser it starts a new acroread process. This problem does not happen when you use the Adobe Reader outside of the browser on local PDF files. Is there something I can collect to help solve this problem? Is this a known problem?

Experiencing same memory leak problem on Fedora 8 Kernel 2.6.24.3-34 x86_64, glibc 2.7-2,
    with FireFox 2.0.0.08, 2.0.0.10, 2.0.0.12, and 2.0.0.13
    and AdobeReader 8.1.1 and 8.1.2
b Observations when running any version of FireFox:
    *1-when reading a pdf file, System Monitor displays a new process called "ld-linux.so.2";
    *2-when getting off the pdf file, process "ld-linux.so.2" remains active;
    *3-when reading a new pdf file, another "ld-linux.so.2" is started;
    *4-when closing FireFox, one or several "ld-linux.so.2" processes remain active and become runaway processes;
*5-these "ld-linux.so.2" runaway processes eat-up about 1MB per second until system freezes.
    b Another observation:
*When starting Adobe Reader, System Monitor does not display "acroread", it displays "ld-linux.so.2"
Adobe Reader launcher uses a script called "acroread"; this script launches the binary either directly
    or through "/lib/ld-linux.so.2".
    b Further observations:
*1-In FireFox, when Adobe Reader is launched through "/lib/ld-linux.so.2", it becomes a runaway process.
*2-On the other hand, when Adobe Reader is launched directly,
    ]-System Monitor displays "acroread"
]-acroread always terminates as it supposed to do.
    b Solutions:
    * 1-add a symbolic link as follows:
    ]ln -s ld-linux.so.2 /lib/ld-lsb.so.3
*2-or install Package redhat-lsb as follows:
    ]yum install redhat-lsb
    b Conclusion:
It appears that "/lib/ld-linux.so.2" is not handling the "term signal" received from FireFox when exiting a pdf page. When Adobe Reader is started directly, it does handle the "term signal" received from FireFox and terminates correctly.
    b Outstanding Question:
Is "/lib/ld-linux.so.2" supposed to handle the "term signal"? If so, this is where the bug is because it does not. If not, why is it used to launch Adobe Reader?
Home my many hours of investigations can help someone.
    b Note
Sorry. Problem is NOT entirely solved here! Still some memory leaks at times.

  • The Firefox plugin page said I needed to install a new plugin for Shockwave Flash, but after doing the installation I checked back to see if the installation took place and the "action" column still says "update now" and potentially vulnerable."

  • Did OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 update break bluetooth audio for anyone else?

Did OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 update break bluetooth audio for anyone else?
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 duo MacMini from 2010, and I just updated to the latest OSX (10.9.4 (13E28)) and now bluetooth audio is broken.
I can pair my device (LG Tone+) to the mac, but no audio will play though it.  I've rebooted the machine, reconnected the device after the update, restarted the browser, all with no results.
Typically, when I connect to the system I will get audio acknowledgements through the headset, "Power On" "Battery High" "Connected"
I still get those audio queues through the device.  However when I open up a video on YouTube, or attempt to stream music on Spotify...nothing happens.
I've plugged wired headphones into the system and that works just fine.  When I connect my Bluetooth headset, the audio to the wired headphones disconnects, so it seems like everything is behaving normally, except that no audio plays through the bluetooth headset.
Any ideas on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.  So, what do we think?

    Try resetting the SMC.

  • Bluetooth Audio Breaks / Drops, very frequently

I have a Iphone 3G (OS 3.0.1) with a Philps SHB9000/10 Bluetooth Stereo Headset, the Audio just breaks/drops very frequently, (about every 30 sec or so). is it just me or a general problem with the phone.
It is better when the phone is stationary, like on a desk.
    Please suggest a solution
    Kind Regards,
    Natarajan.

paired S9 with iphone 3G successfully just now. Running 3.0 OS. hadn't tried before. One problem encountered. Listening to Pandora, phone rang through headphones, I answered phone manually, and audio switched to normal phone speaker. When call was over, re-opened Pandora and audio came through phone speaker. Turned headset off and back on, and music resumed streaming through headset. Is there and easier way to toggle between phone and headset? not even sure if S9 has a mic...but I know someone out there knows the answer!!
    Thanks.

After recent upgrade to Yosemite on Macbook air bluetooth audio cuts out and associated video stops with audio. Likewise with airplay and Apple TV. I have deleted all my saved wifi connections and restarted numerous times. I do not expect a resolution from the community, but hope to get the attention of Apple engineers. If you are having same problems or have a miracle cure I am all ears.

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
    • restart Apple TV
    • restart Macbook Pro
    • quite iTunes/open
    • turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
    • unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

    Hi ..
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • How to disable the new Bluetooth Audio function?

After updating to OS 3.0 i have an annoying problem with my iPhone connected to a Kenwood car radio (via USB in the glove box):
    1. Connect iPhone with car radio via USB
    2. Turnin on the radio - now it starts playing songs from the iPhone
    3. Now the iPhone connects via Bluetooth to the radio (for use of the handsfree set!)
    4. The addressbook is downloaded by the radio via the Bluetooth connection
Till there it worked fine under OS 2.2.1 - i was able to listen to the iPod and to make/receive calls! But now there's step 5:
    5. The Bluetooth Audio function is activated - and i can hear no more sound although the playback of the song is resumed!
There's a workaround for this issue: I can tap on the iPod-Icon on the iPhone which says that the iPhone is connected to an equipment. There i can tap on a bluetooth icon in the lower right corner in which i can select the device for audio output: Bluetooth or Dock.
This is really annoying (even more due to the bad qualitiy of the bluetooth audio), so where can i disable this new "feature"?!

I too am having this problem. It seems as though I also have to unplug and re-plugin my iPhone dock connector to make it switch to the USB output I need for my JVC KD-R800 receiver in my car. I can't seem to find a way to permanently disable A2DP functionality on either my iPhone or my Car's audio receiver.
We really do need some sort of option to either disable A2DP altogether or setup a "priority" list of items. Personally, I'd love to have the iPhone output in an order something like the following:
    1st - Dock Connector (USB)
    2nd - Bluetooth A2DP
    3rd - Headphones / iPhone Speaker
Hopefully someone find out of a permanent workaround or solution soon. I just got this new receiver for my car and it messes everything up!

  • Magic mouse lags bluetooth audio

Magic mouse lags bluetooth audio with cracking and pitch shift.
After Magic mouse disconnected, then bluetooth speakers sounds perfect.
    Please help!!!

I have this same issue, but opposite.  My audio in my bluetooth headphones sounds great, but when they are connected my bluetooth mouse (microsoft 5000) is all over the place.
What's the deal.  I didn't know my $2000 mac would be so inferior to my $800 pc in this regards   (otherwise very happy with switch to mac)

  • New MacBook Pro 17" i7 - Bluetooth & Audio Interface (via FW) problems

    Hi everyone.
I have a couple of really annoying problems with my brand new machine!!
    (a) Wireless Apple Mouse & Wireless Apple Keyboard. Both pair up fine and function normally, but after 20-30 mins of use they drop in and out and the mouse becomes very slow and jerky, keyboard becomes slow and I get double keys etc. I have changed both sets of batteries and am running the latest firmware. If I unpair and repair then this doesnt fix the problems, the only way to fix them is to re-boot. After re-boot they funtion properly for another 20 mins and then display this problem again!
    (b) I cannot connect my Focusrite Saffire LE FW audio interface properly to the FW800 port. When I connect it and the audio switches from core audio to the device I get the beachball of doom and I cannot play any audio in Itunes / quicktime etc. The beachball only disappears when I take out the FW cable and the machine switches back to core audio drivers.
The strange thing is that I also have a uMBP 13" (2009) model and none of these problems occur on this machine. The bluetooth devices work flawlessly and the Audio interface acts properly as well.
This is my 3rd replacement laptop this week, and it has occured in every replacement I have so it is definately not machine specific (had to return them for other issues!)
I have been through these problems with Apple and the techies are now looking into this.
Just wondering if anyone was experiencing these two kinds of problems with the new models of MBPs?
    Thanks!

    Update on the problems.....
    (a) According to Apple it's a 10.6.3 problem and the engineers are working on a solution to come out in 10.6.4 - VERY annoying.
    (b) The FireWire Port on my new MBP wasnt putting out enough power to power the FW unit...... I have had to buy a AC adapter for it and power it that way..... working fine now...... I wonder if they changed the power out in the new MBPs for the FW port.
Thanks to the previous replys, and no I havent got it paired with my other mac.
Sounds like the same problem as Dirk is describing.....
