Firefox Plugin Container keeps crashing.

Every god damn day.
Every time I surf.
Almost every time I go on youtube.
For the past months.
Resetted Firefox about 20 times.
Started without any plugins.
Uninstalled and reinstalled.
Resetted Firefox 20 times more.
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? Do I have to start paying to get a decent BROWSER? Or should I switch to Chrome?

  • Plugin CONTAINER keeps crashing, now a specific plugin noted, but sometimes Adobe crashes too... What is the fix for the CONTAINER?

I have had this problem for a few months. I am using version 3.6.12, have always updated when noticed, couldn't find a resolution for the problem and have been waiting to see if the fix came with one of the updates, but it continues. Firefox will just stop working, if a video is playing, the sound still goes on for a while, but I notice the crash if I go to a screen and it fades upon a click with the revolving wheel turning... then note that my Windows Vista system say, FIREFOX NOT RESPONDING. Always trying to resolve the problem, Windows only comes back with the Plugin Container has crashed. I have had problems with the Adobe Flash player crashing too. I was told in a Windows Vista forum that the plugin noted to be for Windows Vista 32 bit was the same and good for Windows Vista 16 bit.... but I tend not to believe this with all the problems I am experiencing here now.

I read a few similar reports, however, referencing specific plugins, and one frequently mentioned in replys was the Adobe plugin. The suggestion there was to downgrade to 3.6.6. I have since done this, I will update if it worked or not. I disabled automatic updates of Firefox due to this problem. I hope to see Firefox notify users of the fixes the next updates will contain. With all due respect to Firefox, if this downgrade works, I will hesitate to update until I know this problem is corrected as it is to severe and troublesome. Thank you.

  • Firefox plugin container high cpu usage and crashing

All three of my family's computers have been experiencing problems with the firefox plugin container.  The container spikes the CPU for long, long, periods of time slowing overall performance noticably.
The only way to address the problem is to kill the Firefox plugin container.
When I kill the plugin container it kills Adobe Flash.  This also occurs with Google Chrome and IE (problem and fix).
This leads me to beleive Flash is the problem.
I've tried clearing the flash cache from the Adobe troubleshooting site, deleting all cache applications, and changing settings.
    Nothing seems to work.
IS ADOBE FLASH BROKEN?  If not how can I troubleshoot this problem? My family plays Farmville which is always hanging and can only be fixed by restarting the computer. Okay, maybe farmville is a bad app.
However, I had the same problem when I went to Adobe.Com to try ans find a solution to this problem.  The flash application spikde the CPU and the fix was to kill flash.
I'm not without skills - I could use some direction on how to troubleshoot flash?
    Suggestions?
    Regards,
    Dale

    Thanks.
Since I know absolutley nothing about flash that was very helpful.

  • Frustrating plugin container freeze/crash ONLY on YouTube

I've been trying to diagnose this one for a week now and I've done all but pull my hair out over it. I run a very basic, bare bones setup that has always been rock solid for as long as I've been using FireFox.
The machine is: Windows XP SP3, Firefox 11, Flash 11.9.
Addons are: Adblock Plus 2.1.2, Adblock Plus Pop-up 0.4, Flash Video Downloader 3.9.3, Status 4 Ever .17, Password Exporter 1.2.1
But out of the blue, plugin container will freeze for 30-45 seconds if I press the back button on my MOUSE while hovering over a YouTube video. I can either sit and wait the 30-45 seconds and plugin container will crash and the browser will start moving again, or I can forcefully stop the process in task manager. This is ONLY on YouTube videos, on their respective pages and does not happen on embedded videos on other websites. Every other flash video site from Hulu to adult work fine.
And when I say hovering over the YouTube video I mean literally, if one pixel of my mouse pointer is touching the video and I press back on the mouse, it freezes the entire browser. If I alt+left arrow it's fine. If I press back on the browser button it's fine. If I click the back button on my mouse while hovering anywhere else on screen, it's fine.
The only "solution" I've found is setting dom.ipc.plugins.enabled to false in about:config. But this is not a real solution for me, as I need dom.ipc.plugins.enabled set to TRUE in order to keep functionality in other things and it just straight up messes up little things all over other webpages when it's off.
I have tried every possible combination of solutions I can think of and have no clue what to do next except switch browsers. This is what I've done so far:
    · Disabled protected mode for flash in FireFox
    · Disabled hardware acceleration in FireFox AND Flash
    · Uninstalled/Clean installed every version of Flash down to 11.1
    · Disabled all addons
    · Uninstall/Clean installed FireFox 11 and ran it fresh
    · Uninstall/Clean installed FireFox 26 and ran it fresh
    · Updated mouse drivers
    · Ran without mouse drivers
    · Changed USB port mouse was in
    · Did all of these same changes on my Windows 7 partition, still freezes/crashes
I don't know what else to chalk this up to other than it being a direct problem between the plugin container process and something that YouTube has changed in the backend recently that the masses would never see. Is it possible there's some hotkey being assigned to the mouse back button within YouTube's video player now, and when pressed it kills the plugin container? Doubtful but I'm at the bottom of barrel here.
Any information would be helpful, thanks.

I have the same exact problem. I have a 5 button mouse and and anytime i click the side back button back when hovering on a youtube video it freezes

  • Plugin-Container keeps playing video sound after I close the tab/window

Plugin-Container keeps playing video sound after I close the tab/window. I have to shut down the process to make the sound stop.

Try disabling hardware acceleration. Many visual bugs can be attributed to issues with graphics drivers.
(Firefox -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> [ ] Use hardware acceleration when available)

  • I get the following message: Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly. What do I do?

the message:" Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly" appears regularly in my maintenance center. I am on Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.17

I had the same type of failure. It was caused by a FF upgrade from V4 to V9.1. Dearing 1955 did not say what version caused the problem. My USB ports started acting up. I could not install the Webcam that was installed before. The HP Scanner of my OJ 8500 stopped working (USB). Did get it to work via Wireless. Removing FF did not clear the problem. Believe I have infected USB driver now.

  • Where can I get the Mozilla Firefox plugin-container missing

I dl the new Firefox 4.0 and did not like it so uninstalled it. Reinstalled the Firefox 3.6 and had trouble with it coming up. After a couple of hours it finally started to work. Yesterday it would not even open up or try to load. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still will not even try to load up. Did a check of problems and it said Mozilla Firefox plugin-container was missing. Tried to find it and have been unable to do so. I really like Firefox. What do I need to do.

    i used this one: https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-28.0&os=win&lang=en-US

  • Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly

Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly. FOR THE UMPTEENTH DAMN TIME... HOW DO I FIX THIS on Firefox 3.6.13!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
    ''edited by a moderator - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Forum+and+chat+rules+and+guidelines ''

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Why hasn't Mozilla FIXED the problem in 5 months: Firefox Plugin Container Has Stopped Working. Hundreds of people posted but there is NO SOLUTION!

"Firefox Plugin Container Has Stopped Working."
Why hasn't Mozilla FIXED the problem in 5 months?
And Why is there not any answer to how to fix it that an Ordinary Person can do, without a MS degree in computer science?
I had this problem in Firefox 3.6.8 and then just downloaded version 3.6.12, the latest one, but it still happens constantly:
Hundreds of people posted in June 2010 and now the help section says: "This Question is Closed" message is at the bottom,
    But there is NO SOLUTION!

This file seems to offer as many issues as problems it's supposed to solve.
Fix your problem in 20 seconds, 15 if you copy and paste the 2 strings below:
    - Open a new tab in Firefox
    - Type "about:config" in the Address Bar (without the quotes)
    - Click "I'll be careful, I promise!"
    - Type "dom.ipc" in the Filter field on top of the page
    - 6 lines of parameters should appear, ignore the first and the last ones
    - Double-click on the 4 lines in the middle to change their value to "False"
    - Close the tab, close Firefox, restart Firefox

The Malwarebytes web page is available. I just checked it, so the problem is somewhere on your end.
That '''''Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED)''''' makes '''rjohnson19''''s suggestion valid. I did not see that in your initial post.
Did the problem start ''<u>'''immediately'''</u>'' following your un-install of McAfee and install of Norton?
Did you use the McAfee removal instructions (including the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe))? See: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507
Note that Norton also has a removal tool: http://service1.symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
*Is Norton properly configured for Firefox? See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firewalls
*Are you having problems accessing any web sites other than anti-malware sites?
*Have you tried updating Norton? Does it update?
*Try going to the McAfee site and see if you can get in.
*Did you try to download Malwarebytes from another non-infected computer at another location as I suggested?
*You may also need to access that Malwarebytes forum page from another non-infected computer.
*Call a friend, give them the addresses and see if they can access both of the Malwarebytes addresses.
*If they can, then that will confirm what I suspect; that you have a malware infection that will keep you from downloading, installing or updating anti-malware applications.
If this is being caused by malware, you may need help from one of these expert sites (all free, just read their requirements and follow the instructions they give you):

    HI Starlet sky,
Its a pleasure to meet a fellow 3d gamer. Since the plugin that crashed was:
    webplayer_win.dll_unloaded
You can clear the cache and see if this helps prevent future crashes, but that might not be the only cause.
    Other things to consider:
    * Your plugins and extensions are not update: Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700 - needs to be 14
    * Update all your media extensions and plugins, this will help the performance. also look at hardware acceleration after updating your graphics card and extensions [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
Once this is done, please try to access the game a gain and report back! It could help other users, thank you!

  • Chrome, Firefox, Spotify & Word keep crashing... Help

I installed Chrome this weekend. Everything was fine until yesterday. On chrome, the text on websites started to look like code or wingdings font (for lack of better term) instead of English. Then it kept crashing. I finally un-installed. After that, my Firefox and aforementioned applications keep 'not responding'. I'm wondering what my next step should be? It's hard to work on here when everything keeps crashing.

Running 10.5.8 means you have had this MacBook for a while. Perhaps this is not an Applications problem but a System Problem.
