Firefox problems on one of two Macs running Mountain Lion

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my two Macs. On the MacBook Air using Firefox 14.0.1 some pages in "my account" at Amazon's site and the my.yahoo.com portal (when signed in to the account) are wonky. '''Note: the portal page of my.yahoo.com looks fine if you are not signed in. It only gets jumbled if you're trying to view the custom home page for your account.''' The same is true of Amazon. the general site looks fine; it's only when you try to view deeper pages, such as "my account." I've seen similar problems at a few other sites, as well. All sites are fine in Safari. Text overlaps paragraphs, images missing, etc.
No problems on the MacBook Pro, also running Firefox 14.0.1

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • Old Mac running Mountain Lion 'sees' Canon IP5000, new MacBook pro will not. No driver available from canon. Is there a way of transfering whatever is working from old mac to new?

I have two older macs running Mountain Lion that have been upgraded over the years from Leopard. They have continued to be able to print to a Canon IP5000 and use a driver that is fully functional. On the new MacBook Pro, the printer is found, but no driver is available for Mountain Lion from apple or Canon. Is there a way of getting the driver info from the old mac so that it will work on the new one?

Sorry, it says "New Event," not "New Entry." My bad.

  • Need to reset forgotten initial login username on Mac running MOuntain Lion, vol not showing at recoverpassword, Need to reset forgotten initial login username on Mac running MOuntain Lion, vol not showing at recoverpassword

Hi - I've stupidly forgotten a log in password on my new iMac running mountain lion, tried the recoverpassword prompt by Command R and then terminal - all OK, but my computer is showing no volumes - and therefore no existing users so I'm unable to reset the password. Can anyone help? I'm tearing my hair out.

You are not selecting your boot volume. That would be the one indented at the top of the list. The one labeled "Macintosh HD." The internal hard drive would be the entry above Macintosh HD. I can't read it in the picture.
Are you able to boot the computer normally? If not, then boot from the Recovery HD. Try the resetpassword routing:
    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen   appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.

  • Problem with my Mac running mountain lion not connecting to server

    Hi there,
I have a problem connecting to the HDD shared on my local network. As far as I understand this might be a Mountain Lion (10.8.4) problem, because all my other devices can connect to it (even my iphone throught an app called FileExplorer).
I read that it might be related to a Samba problem, but I tried to install SMBUp and I still cannot connect to my HDD. Whenever I try to connect to it via the Cmd+K it says "The version of this server is not supported". Please help me this is blowing my mind. Also, it's a shame that everything but my main machine can connect to my HDD (PCs, Android, iOS are all fine).
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the delay, but I've been quite busy in the recent period. Unfortunately, the solution you linked me doesn't seem to be working. Any other idea?
    BTW: I've upgraded to Mavericks

Did you not bring all your important data over from your old computer? Do you have a backup of the iTunes library that you can restore? If not, then its not to late, just more work that it should be.
    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • How do I hook up an Apple fsax modem on my Mac running Mountain Lion and working via wifi?

Do you need to be using a dial-up connection to make an Apple Fax Modem work with Mountain Lion?  I'm having trouble setting up a new fax modem with my wifi system.

Apple Fax Modems don't work with Lion or Mountain Lion. They relied on a partial software solution that was built into earlier versions of OSX. You need what is known as a full contoller version USB modem, one that doesn't rely on partial OSX software.

  • Installing CS2 on Mac running Mountain Lion?

So, I purchased a new/unopened copy of this locally just to start  learning Illustrator.  Didn't know that I would be unable to install it due to Mac support issues.  So, is it possible for me to upgrade to CS6 without having to buy a full-blown version of CS6 (or the monthly-fee version, which - as a newbie/beginner I'm just not up for)? If not, then I'm going to have to try to return this and I'm also not up for the hassle of that :>)  Thanks in advance for advice.

So, is it possible for me to upgrade to CS6 without having to buy a full-blown version of CS6 (or the monthly-fee version
    No.
You can only upgrade to CS6 from CS5.
You cannot run CS2 on an Intel-based Mac (such as the one you own).
Your options are to buy CS6, join the Cloud or return CS2.
You could run the trial version of Illustrator CC for free for 30 days to see if you like it. Then decide from there.

  • Is it possible to use the ipad to access a mac mini running mountain lion and back to my mac?

Is it possible to access a mac running mountain lion using Back to my Mac?

To my knowledge the iPod can only be used as a secondary monitor since you have to boot up the Mac and turn on the secondary display. You would still need a KB and pointing device for the Mac
However, you can log into the Mini from an iOS device like an iPad using app like LogMeIn, GoTo MyPC or TeamViewer on both the Mac and the iPad. You use the touch screen on the iPad for all control of the Mac.
As you said, that would be tedious for a lot of typing but you could use a BT keyboard for the iPad.

I read that Apple has loosened their licensing restrictions on older MAC OS versions like Snow Leopard.  This would allow you to run Snow Leopard on a new MAC running Mountain Lion by using a program like Fusion or Parallels to create a virtual machine.  Does anyone know if this is true?
I would like to upgrade to a new MAC but can't.  Some of the software that I use withthe company I work for is PPC based and there will not be updates for at least another year.
It was a common Urban Myth that Apple's Snow Leopard EULA prohibited its virtualization in Lion or Mt. Lion.  This myth has been debunked over the last year or so.
Hence, Apple did not necessarily relax any "licensing restrictions" that did not exist in the first place in this regard.

  • One of the users on my Mac book pro, running Mountain lion finds that no changes made in last session are there next time they log on

One of the users on my Mac book pro running mountain lion finds that no changes made in last session are there next time they log on.
For instance, the Macintosh HD icon, is always moved so that it is almost off the screen to top left hand side of the desktop.
None of my changes to the sidebar in the finder are there.
My changes to the dock have reverted.
Despite unticking the box when logging out, even though i have quit all applications, iphoto and safari are always re-opened.
iphoto always says the library needs to be upgraded... even though i did that the last time.
I have tried deleting ALL the files in the "Saved application state" folder in the library folder, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
This is on a second admin user account.
The main user account seems to be fine.
This account used to be in the filevault on Lion, but is not now in Mountain Lion.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

The same tragic thing happened to me, not even a full two days after I bought it. I immediately powered it off, wiped it as best I could, and put it in front of a fan. I tried valiantly to get the back off, but couldn't remove all the screws. I was basically inconsolable until I realized that no matter what, my credit card insurance would cover it, since it had been less than 90 days. Fast forward 48 hours, and it seemed to run just fine. Some of the keys and the track pad were sticky, and I figured since it was covered, I might as well get it fixed. My only concern at this point was had I voided the Apple Care. I brought it in, told them what happened, said what I needed to satisfy the credit card, and they said, "We'll just swap it out for you, no problem." I was thrilled, and the Genius said they appreciated my honesty, and it was easier for all parties to just do it this way. And my Apple Care was transferred to the new machine. This was my first Mac and, needless to say, I am now an Apple devotee.

  • I have two macs running lion.

I have two macs running lion. Can I wirelessly transfer files from one to the other or do I need to move files to a USB device? I thought therre was a mac program that did that.
    Thanks

AirDrop is not necessary, it merely makes it more seemless.
You can use simple file sharing over any Mac network:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/ht1549
Note gigabit ethernet is fastest, Firewire 800 is next, then is Firewire 400, then is 802.11n, and 802.11g for networking. I would not have an 802.11b or 802.11a network unless you aren't anywhere within 1500 feet (500 meters) of someone who could sniff out your network, as wireless security at those speeds is easily breached.
If you have Firewire 400 or 800 cables and the supported ports, Target Disk Mode is a lot easier to setup for moving files around:

All my Photos disappeared after I saved a photo to Iphoto from an email from my wife. I am running Mountain lion on Mac book pro 2012, help. What did I do wrong?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
