Firefox problems with Netflix

Netflix rebuffers so much it's hard to watch a movie...Comcast says Firefox is the problem & I should change to another browser. Comments about this? Anyone with same problem? Thanks...

Try clearing your cache: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How to clear the cache How to clear the cache] .
It seems likely that a buffering issue is more with your ISP than with your browser. Make sure you don't have any downloads going (including things like windows updates, etc.) and any other windows or tabs that could be trying to download information (like a windows with a Youtube video buffering as well).

  • Problem with netflix after upgrading to firefox 6

now that I have upgraded to firefox 6 I can't instant watch netflix anymore. please help I'd rather not have to use a different browser to do this.

    '''SOLUTION'''
The problem with Netflix streaming with the FireFox 6.0 version is that the Netflix service '''refuses '''version 6.0 because they are A) unwilling to license it '''''or''''' B) too lazy or stupid to add the new version to their User Agent acceptance scheme. C) under contract to MICROSOFT to use Silverlight and part of Silverlight's DRM is what Browser versions are acceptable and Microsoft is taking their sweet time updating Silverlight to push I.E. on people and if you have Beta 5 Silverlight forget that -------Until Netflix accepts Firefox 6.0 as a legitimate Netflix browser '''you may do what I have done to get Firefox 6.0 streaming at Netflix.'''
    1) Open Firefox 6.0 and enter "www.whatsmyua.com" without quotations in the address bar and highlight and copy your present User Agent string from the top of that page when you get there.
    2) Type "ABOUT:CONFIG" without quotations in the Firefox address bar and hit enter then answer the You might destroy the world question with Alright I'm ready.
    3) Right click on the background of the Config screen and then highlight to click on the "New String" choice... When the box comes up enter "general.useragent.override" without quotations and hit return
    4) When another box appears paste in your current User Agent string you copied in step 1) BEFORE hitting enter place your cursor on your paste and right arrow to the end of the line. EDIT/REPLACE "6.0" with "5.0.1" without the quotations. Enter your change and close out the Config page.
    5) Repeat step 1) to make sure the User Agent string is now spoofing your browser as version 5.0.1
    6) Go to Netflix and watch movies (Make sure Silverlight and the Firefox Java are on). If it was working before the upgrade, everything should now work again streaming Netflix with Firefox 6.0.
    7) Call Netflix and tell them Dave sent you to see if they're stupid or just lazy and to quit spreading the B.S. that Firefox 6.0 ain't workin when we know it's Netflix (1-866-636-3076)

  • Loaded atv 4.2.2 problem with netflix login.  Has anyone solved this problem?

Cannot login to Netflix on Apple TV after the 4.2.2 update.  Ihave done a restore, unplugged and restarted, called netflix and they changed password.  Was able to login to Netflix on Mac Air.  Netflix says call apple.

I am also having this, and I am 4.4.3.  I'm guessing it's a problem with the Netflix app and how it send the password.  It seems that only passwords containing all numbers work, but I would like to have a more secure password protecting my Netflix account.

  • Having problem with Netflix streamlight and firefox 4

So, I cannot watch anything from Netflix streaming. The silverlight plugin gives me an error code (N8007), and gives me instructions to change the silverlight settings, I follow them, and it still will not work. I tried uninstalling silverlight, and reinstalling it, but to no avail.

Go to Tools-Options-Privacy Tab- Select use custom settings for history and uncheck Permanent private browsing mode. I then refreshed Netflix and it worked.

  • Problem with netflix after update!

Since I update my Apple TV my netflix became useless. Every time that I try to watch something it starts very well but suddenly the video start from the beginning again and the audio continues normally. Any sugestions?

I am eperiencing the same problem but with a second Apple Cinema Display. The Netflix buttons in Safari will not respond to left mouse clicks on any monitor that is not the Main monitor (the one with the menu bar). If I open Firefox it will work as expected on any monitor. But Safari no longer responds.
    No fix yet.

  • Mozilla Firefox problems with the forums

I just spent an hour trying to access the forums when using Firefox 12. It does not display the bar with the New Your Stuff history etc. It updated itself yesterday or the day before and since then it is impossible to use on this forum.
I just had a thought and tried IE9 64 bit and it works OK. Loaded the same url on Firefox and the bar with the welcome username was not there.
It shows that I am logged in under the search box but still asks for me to log in. I even contacted Customer support, but they could not help.
So if you have problems accessing the forum, use a different browser.

I tried to log in on the page and it would not accept my password as I was already logged in to Adobe. A new password made no difference, it still would not accept the password and username. Logging in with IE9 was no problem.
Normally when I click on the adobe forums link on the Dreamweaver help  I am sent to http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver?lang=en_US  on my default browser - Mozilla. For some days now I have not been sent there, but arrive on the Adobe main page, and have to search for the forums using their search feature. Perhaps there was a crossed or broken link?
However, today for the first time for a while, it seems to be all working fine. I did report the problem to Mozilla, but whether they did anything I do not know at the moment.
I will see if this continues to work properly and report back.
    Best wishes

  • Problems with Netflix downstreaming on Mountain Lion?

Ever since my upgrade to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard, the picture on a Netflix downstream stutters.  On my older macbook pro, with Snow Leopard I had the Silverlight 4.0.60531 plug in and never had a problem. Now with Mountain Lion and the new Silverlight 5.1.10411.0 plug in this picture is never smooth.
I can watch downstreams on Amazon Prime and the NFL channel without any problem or loss of quality.  Anyone have any ideas what I can do about Netflix?
    Thanks in advance.

you could wait or you could head over to Mountain Lion / Safari / MacBook Pro community forums.
Plug into Google with those keywords?

  • Silverlight problems with Netflix

Setting up my new 11.6" MB Air I had multiple error DRM codes when trying to instantly watch Netflix movies. I called netflix and they had me 1. uninstall/reinstall Silverlight (no go) 2. create a new user account (no go). I called Applecare, no help. Searched the web for a while and put together a few tips that worked:
    1. Move the following to the trash:
    HD>Library>App Support>Microsoft>Silverlight
    HD>Library>App Support>Microsoft>Playready
    HD>Library>Internet Plug-ins>Silverlight.plugin
Empty trash, reboot, go on Netflix and try to stream movie, it will ask you to reinstall silverlight. After the installation I was able to watch movies instantly. Hope this saves someone the 4 hours spent.

I followed your instructions and it worked great for Safari! Thanks! Unfortunately, I'm still having the same issue with Firefox.   Netflix "hangs" on a black screen when I try to instantly view a movie. Is there a "tweak" within firefox I should try?

  • [SOLVED] firefox problems with Twitter and google+

I've been having some issues with firefox. I don't know if they are related, but they've been getting on my nerves.
First off, Twitter just shows a blank page with the background picture. I can't view any twitter posts at all.
Secondly, pages which check for browser compatibility all seem to report that my browser isn't supported (it is). For example, Google+ gives me a "Your Browser is no longer supported." page while the list of supported browsers states: "Linux : Chrome, Firefox 3.6 and up".
I'm using the latest version of firefox from extra (7.0.1-1). Also, these problems are not new to this version, as they have been occurring for as long as I've had this computer (~10 months). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Disabling the plugins did nothing, but creating a new profile seems to have fixed it.
I still don't know what caused the problems, but I've migrated all my stuff over to the new profile and everything is working well. I'm marking this thread as solved, thanks for the help!

  • Safari and Firefox problems with wireless network

I have seen similar questions to mine on the forums recently. Here's my story: I have 5 month old Mac Book with Leopard, no airport extreme, just the inbuilt Airport card. I connec through the internet with Netgear. I have been on to Apple support who went through all the checks, nothing wrong they say, and suggest I contact Netgear. This I did, rebooted router, switched on/off, updated firmware. And still the same problems - pages ultra slow to load, messages saying I am not connected to the internet but running network diagnostics informs me I am. I have to resend pages three times to get them to load. It's driving me nuts. A couple of things then: should I check the box for 'remember password in keychain' when I'm loggin on to my own secure network? Maybe the keychain not remembering is slowing it down. I also read that with one of the key chain updates (I update automatically so I presume I did this some time back) the airport card might not work, and safe restart is required. Do I need to do this?
I know Apple don't take responsibility for third party equipment, like the Netgear router, but my mac worked amazingly with the internet until about 2 weeks ago, and I have updated everything with Netgear. Any ideas?

I believe the WebKitPlugInHost needs to be updated for Safari as It crashes whenever I am playing FarmVille on FaceBook.

  • Firefox problems with Open URL vi

I am using Open URL in Default browser to display the contents of a file.
If IE is the default browser and the file is xyz.htm it works but not if the file is xyz.html.
On the other hand if Firefox is the default browser it works if the file is xyz.html but not if the file is xyz.htm.
One further "quirk" with Firefox is that Firefox must be running for the file to display. If Firefox is not running Firefox starts but then instead of displaying the file I want it goes to a web site that sells Czech language books!
Is there any way I can resolve these differences? Can I find out what is the default browser? Can I see if Firefox is already running? Any suggestions?
Note: this is all in windows. I haven't tried it yet in Mac OS.
    David

I think you're referring to the "Open URL in Default Browser" that you access from the Function Palette->All Functions->Application->Help subpalette. That VI is a simple wrapper around the "Open URL in Default Browser core" VI. Basically, to get it to work with Firefox you need to bypass the "Search and Replace" operation that it's doing, and then append a space to the URL that you enter and feed that directly to the "Open URL in Default Browser core" VI:
This will still work if IE is the default browser

  • Firefox Problems with Flash Button alignment

    Hey Forums,
I am using Dreamweaver CS3, for a website. For the page I
used a 3 column elastic with header and footer.
On the left sidebar I have four flash buttons, and whenever I
preview the page in Mozilla Firefox, the upmost button for some
reasons aligns to the right. I have no alignment settings set, and
the alignment for the sidebar is set to left. It only happens in
Firefox, not Safari nor Internet Explorer. I attached the code, if
    you need anymore info, ask.

In the dialog box for the Flash Button, in the link box, put
    the full
absolute path if an external page. Including the
    http:// part.
    http://www.example.com/page.html
for pages inside your site- use the browse to file icon, and

  • Firefox problems with slow and unreliable dialup internet connection

I have a slow an unreliable dialup internet connection. This is all that is available in my area -- no form of 'broadband' internet is available, not even satelight (I have too many trees in the way).
What happens is that due to the poor quality of the analog telephone system (very old and poorly maintained copper cables), my modem drops the internet connection from time to time -- it *usually* dials back, but sometimes I have to manually restart the connection. Because the the connection is so slow, it takes a long time to completely load pages and if the connection is lost in the middle of loading a page, Firefox seems to become 'confused' and even if I stop loading the page and then try to reload it, it does not do so. I have an external modem, so I can watch the blinking lights, so I know when data is being transfered (I also have a connection monitor feature as part of my dialup connection software which shows a bar chart of data transfers over the dialip connection).
I *seems* like what is happening is that Firefox has open network connections that become 'void' when the connection is lost and then reconnected and Firefox attempts to re-cycle these connections. Or else it has 'worker threads' that have become confused or wedged.
Are there settings that I can set (eg with 'about:config') to deal with these issues?

Maybe it helps if you toggle the File > Work Offline setting on/off.
You can also try to reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

  • HT202157 We are having streaming problems with Netflix.

t works most of the time, but in the evening it constantly pauses.  Is this an apple tv problem?  Is this a Netflix problem?  Just wondering.

It is probably neither, but a network problem. Cable internet always gets slow when everyone is using it - in the evening.
Ask your ISP how to perform a speed test on your system, they will usually want you to connect directly to the modem, bypassing your router. If it is still unacceptably slow then insist that they fix it.

  • Firefox problem with pdfs

Howdy. When I originally bought my mac 3 years ago, I bought and installed Adobe Creative Suite, including Acrobat CS, and ever since, viewing pdfs from firefox has never worked properly. It apparently installed an adobe acrobat (the full app, not reader) plugin that I have not been able to find and uninstall. I don't want to launch a major application every time I come across a pdf I want to read. I've lived with it by control-clicking pdfs to save them as a file, and then opening that file in preview. But I've moved on to leopard and taking the time to straighten out all these sorts of issues.
    1. pdfs are properly associated with preview in OS X Info->OpenWith
    2. Firefox->preferences->content->file types does not have a pdf entry
    3. I have un/reinstalled firefox (including user and system library files)
    4. I have deleted Adobe Acrobat CS
    5. I can't seem to find an OS X Preview firefox plugin.
    6. Adobe doesn't have an Acrobat Reader plugin for Leopard.
    Any help?

Well, for all that, I decided to select "Open as Acrobat Professional 6.0" and click the "always open this type" so that I could have a pdf entry in the Contents section of preferences. And lo and behold, when I did that, the pdf opened with preview. Not Acrobat. So I can't explain it. Clearly someone has a bug there, but I got around it... I'm going to mark this thread as answered.
