Firefox requirements

Hello,
I just did a fresh install of Win7Ult SP1 32-bit. Installed all the drivers, and I installed Firefox. I can not go to about:addons because I receive the following error:
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to services.addons.mozilla.org, but we can't confirm that
your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that
you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to
impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
Then I went to Mozilla.org, and it didn't display correctly, what I mean, everything was in links, and I say on that page the following:
Your system doesn't meet the requirements to run Firefox.
I haven't change a single thing hardware wise, just a FRESH Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 32-bit. I never had this problem for the past three years of using Firefox. Right now, I am using IE10, which I DO NOT LIKE at all. PLEASE, CAN ANYONE ASSIST ME IN TROUBLE SHOOTING THIS?
I also receive this error when I go to about:healthreport
I even tried restarting in safe mode.
This really has me troubled. That is why I am here.
Thank You.
David

Hi David, if you expand the Technical Details section, does that further explain the reason the certificate isn't being accepted?
That site does use a slightly unusual certificate, in that it covers 4 different domains. This one is in the Alternate Name field, it's not the main domain, but Firefox still should be able to handle it...

  • When has firefox required direct access to the workstations camera?

Can anyone provide an example of when Firefox requires direct access to the workstation camera? I do not know if Firefox even requires access to the camera

Historically, access to the camera was only available through plugins like Flash. The Flash DLL runs in the plugin-container.exe process; if protected mode is in effect, it may also run outside of that process.
I suspect that access through native APIs (e.g., [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Navigator.getUserMedia navigator.mozGetUserMedia]) is rare on the desktop. I don't recall getting any requests for it so far personally.

  • Firefox requires sign in to My Yahoo homepage every time I open Firefox.

I have My Yahoo set as my homepage. I have the box checked on my Yahoo account to stay signed in for two weeks. I just started to use Firefox as my primary browser. Unlike IE 8, Firefox requires me to sign in to my personal My Yahoo page with my user name and password each time I open Firefox. Is there a way to avoid having to sign in to My Yahoo each time I open Firefox?

I have the same issue. I see that this issue was posted 7 months ago and as far as I can see here there's no resolution yet! What's the point for this forum. I'm getting pretty frustrated with firefox browser and setting it up without annoyances. If there's a resolution for this issue why not list it here. Firefox is no gem and definitely not as functional as IE.

  • Why does Firefox require a reboot after uninstallation?

Basically, my problem was already asked here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/916857
But that thread is marked as "solved", when in fact this problem is nowhere near being solved, so I am asking it again in a new, "unsolved" thread.
In former times Firefox never needed a reboot, and it does not make any sense because no Firefox-related file should be in use at the time of uninstallation. (Forget about updating in my case; I am doing a clean uninstall, and Firefox insists in rebooting anyway.)
Windows reboots due to software uninstallations are generally only required in the following cases:
    * If files that belong to Windows are being modified. I hope Firefox does no such thing...
    * Part of the software being uninstalled is still running, so that its files are in use. However, I completely closed Firefox and even used the task manager to make sure no firefox-related processes were running.
Some applications (i.e. Adobe Reader) install fancy "Speed Launchers" that are loaded at boot time and stay resident in memory. Unless these processes are manually killed before uninstallation, they may also be the reason why a reboot is necessary. However, Firefox should not do such a thing.
To summarize it, the question is: '''Which part of Firefox is running during uninstallation so that removal of the corresponding files is required?
Generally, I consider this a very bad software behavior, one that I would expect from some commercial software producer who wants to install his speedlaunch or logging stuff on my computer, but not from a free project like this one.
Firefox Portable does not do this, easily proving that technically it is not necessary. Earlier versions of Firefox also refrained from doing such a thing.
A piece of software requesting a reboot without good reason is what I consider a bug.

Aw, c'mon. Writing to the Windows registry never requires a reboot. This is ridiculous.
And Firefox did not need that bad behavior up to version 8 either. Why now?
This is not a Windows issue. You cannot alter files in Linux either if they are currently locked. The thing is that there is no sensible reason for any Firefox-related files to be locked at uninstallation time, which is why there should be no problem removing them.
I do not mean to rant, even though I am disappointed by this new behavior and would like to have it changed, but the least thing I really would like to know is exactly what is causing this. Why have the new versions of Firefox been programmed to require a reboot? Exactly which files need to be removed or changed that cannot be removed/changed during regular uninstallation, so that their removal/change needs to be scheduled for the next restart of Windows?

  • Flash player disappeared from Firefox; "required privilege?"

    Hi everyone,
I've spent hours & hours reading different posts online, on  adobe.com, etc, & find similar situations, but can't find anything on my exact issue.  (sorry if i'm beating a dead horse here & asking something that's already been dealt with....if so, please direct me to any posts that have dealt with this).
About a week ago, my flash player just "disappeared" from my Firefox, but still works in IE & shows version 10.1 in IE when i check it at Adobe's about page.  Everytime I try to watch videos in FF, it tells me i'm missing the plug in & to install flash player..doesn't matter what site it is.  It lets me download flash player for FF, but isn't showing in my plug in or download window in FF, & even after restarting FF, still won't play any flash stuff.  I even uninstalled FF & reinstalled it.
Here's the message I get everytime I install Flash Player from Adobe's site:  C:users/Teresa/appData/Local/Temp/FP_PL_PFS_INSTALLER.exe   "A required privilege is not held by the client". I have no idea what this means.  I have a 1 month old Toshiba laptop, Windows 7, 64 bit, & videos played just fine until about a week or less ago.  One morning, they just wouldn't play in FF.  Don't know what happened.  I can still watch vids in IE with no problems, & it shows that I have Version 10.1 installed in my program list.
Can anyone out there help me figure out what's going on?
    Thanks a bunch!

    Verify user permissions User
permissions determine whether you are allowed to install Flash
Player. You may not be able to install Flash Player successfully if you
don't have administrator permissions to Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista, or
    Windows 7.
To check whether you have administrator permissions for your user account:
    In Windows XP

  • Why does Firefox require a Plug In for Windows Media 11 and it doesn't exist for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

I wanted to listen to an Internet Radio Station and every time I clicked the listen now button on that site, Firefox tells me a Plug In is required for Window Media Player 11 so I follow the link to be told it is a manual download. When I get to the download site, I cannot find a Plug In download that is suitable to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit so, I cannot listen to the radio station I want too and would like to know if there are any other options.

You can use the new WMP plugin for XP/Vista as well on Windows 7 with WMP 11.

  • Help! Have ver10.3.9 & Firefox requires 10.4 or higher

Have my daughter's old ibook and want to run Firefox but it requires ver 10.4 or higher. I'm Mac illiterate and need help. Thanks. Trudy

Is there a specific reason for needing or wanting Firefox (new version)
when you can get Camino 1.6.10 from http://camino.org site and do OK
with that for awhile, on most sites; until you sort out the upgrade path?
Many web sites utilize newer flash and shockwave players (adobe) so
in some cases, the old Panther 10.3.9 system is too old to get later
updates anymore; the last Flash and Shockwave players are too new
for Panther 10.3.9, but the Adobe site does have older ones that may
be newer than the current ones in your old iBook's OS. If these are in
need of update, the old versions would need to be uninstalled when
you get the replacements, before newer ones are installed.
Between a different browser and these two players, some internet
should be more than just possible in that computer. There is an
older Firefox 2.0.0.20 that is still available for download here:
    http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-2.0.0.20&os=osx&lang=en-US
The Adobe players have newer versions than your computer OS can use
so be aware the links to the slightly older ones (as needed) are there.
Get Adobe Shockwave: (shockwave version 10 may be it, not 11.)
    http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
Get Adobe Flash player: (note 'Select version to download' chooser to get v.9)
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Confirmation on the correct Flash and Shockwave for your 10.3.9 system
is recommended; and also, once you get these, check for an official app
that removes each of the older versions. An Uninstaller, one for each item.
The Camino browser is newer than the Firefox 2.0.0.20, but both should
work well enough for the most part, given the correct Flash & Shockwave.
Some sites and web content may not work even then, but most things will.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What is rewardzone and why do I get it with every exit of Firefox, requiring an additional two steps to close?

When I ose Firefox, another screen pops up as the screen I''m working on closes. It is from something called "rewardzone" and I have to close it (one step) and then answer that I want to allow it to close (step two). Just started in the last couple of days. How do I get rid of it?
    Windows 7 Home Premium x64
    Sony Vaio
    Firefox 19.0.2

Thank you for your response. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast as my primary troubleshooters and they didn't pick up anything. On an as needed basis, I used Super Malwarebytes, Malwarebytes, stinger, Advanced system care, and downloaded and used Microsoft Safety Scanner. None of them showed any signs of malware or a virus.
Just all of a sudden, I noticed when I signed off Mozilla Firefox that I had another window open that remained on my PC. First it was for Rewardzoneusa.com and now, occassionaly, Brazilwoman or something like that. In both cases, I select the red X to close the application & Window, then I'm asked to confirm that I want to allow the page to shut down. A Real Pain in the you know what.
I have even run a complete uninstall & reinstall of Mozilla Firefox. The problem doesn't appear every time I run Firefox, but enough to be a real pain.
    Thanks for Trying.
