Firefox returns to regular view when I pause a fullscreen flash video

Hi,
I have a very annoying problem with Firefox.
Whenever I view a flash video fullscreen and then I pause it, it switches off to regular view after a few seconds. Safari or *shudder* Chrome doesn't do this at all.
Anyone know why its doing this?
P.S. I tried disabling ALL of my addons but it still has that problem. I even tried reinstalling Firefox while deleting the old one and starting from scratch....that didn't go over so well either. Wish I saved my bookmarks at least. ouch...

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

    You have to change your page design so the link doesn't occupy the full screen of your content.

  • Firefox Freezed by Fullscreen Flash Video (and trouble with Flash Video Settings)

    I have a desktop computer with integrated nvidia graphics card and a notebook with integrated ati graphics card.
    Both use Linux with Firefox 3.0.8 with Flash Player 10.22
    If I use fullscreen in laptop(ati) no problem at all. In the desktop station(nvidia) if it is an embed video firefox freezes completely and I have to kill firefox. If I go to the original website of the video, no problem at all.
    Wanted to try to deactivate hardware acceleration as stated in some forums, but no luck. Both computers when I right click a select settings, window opens but I can't do nothing at all, not even close them. I can only close (normaly) firefox to reopen it.

    As it turns out, Skype also crashes if I try to use video - so I'm forced to confront the possibility that the problem is actually with my PC, or the updates windows has just installed.

  • Firefox for windows won't display absolute positioned divs over flash video

    I have a website that has a brightcove video player. About a month or so ago, I was able to float divs over the video player so that they would display on top of the video player, using absolute positioning.
    You can see the player here:
    lifeminute.tv/evv/8+9+10+11+12+34/widget300s
    In Firefox (mac), Chrome (windows), Internet explorer (windows) and Safari (mac) it all still displays properly. In Firefox (windows) the video player ignores the Z-index I assign it, and always places the divs underneath it, UNLESS I give the floating div a solid background color.
    When I assign the following styles to the div containing the overlay, I can see the text properly, but of course the video is obscured.
    background-color: #FFFFFF;
    height: 158px;
    position: absolute;
    top: 4px;
    width: 275px;
    If I remove the background-color element the whole overlay pops to the back of the stack behind the video again.
    Is this a FF windows bug or am I just missing something obvious?

    At times you have to add wmode="transparent" attribute to the flash video embed code.

  • While running Firefox 3.6.8, pc reboots when manually moving forward in flash video!

    I loaded a video from Radio-Canada Tou.tv site. If I let the video run for a little while, and then I drag the time bar to move forward in the video, that causes my pc to stop and reboot every time!
    I have accessed the same video with Internet Explorer and the approriate Adobe Flash Player and everything ran well.

    Hi Vinny, LOL, I had the right thread, just the wrong link!! I was on several sites researching and that google link was one of them but didn't intend to post it to you:-)

  • Best practise for pausing slide during flash video playback

    Hi all,
    There really should be a simple option for this - apologies if there is, but I am struggling to find it!
    I have some videos as part of my presentation, that I DO NOT want the user to skip!  I am trying to implement a "Continue to next slide" button that only appears once the video is complete.  I have experimented with several things.  Most recently, setting the button to appear at the time in the slide when the video completes, which is OK, unless the user pauses the video :-).  Then of course, the slide continues playing and the button appears!!
    Is there an easier work around?  I have also tried placing the FLV in an animation and programming the continue buttons manually, so that they only appear at the end of the video, this works to an extent, but not really what I am looking for as I feel it should be possible to do this without using an animation!
    Im sure someone here has come accross this problem.  I just wish there was a simple option to display button upon movie complete!!!!
    Thanks,
    Tristan

  • Dear All, I can't play flash videos from any web site through firefox because it freezes but when i run firefox as administrator then it works fine (But Google Chrome Plays all videos normally.) . I am using Windows 7 & Firefox 7.0.1. Please help

    Dear All,
    Firefox hangs when i try to play flash videos from any site but when i run firefox as administrator it works fine. (but Google Chrome, Opera & I.E9 Plays videos without running as administrator.) I am using Windows 7 & Firefox 7.0.1. Please help.

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Bluetooth Disconnected when playback paused and never resume again

    I am using Nokia BH-111 with my Dell Inspiron N4110. I am facing issues from last week that when I paused playback of audio/video, the Audio never resumes. I won't hear any voice at all. I need to turn off the Bluetooth adapter and have to restart it again.
    But it was working fine before that and Nokia BH-111 is also working fine with my other devices. Could you provide some assistance.

    Hi,
    Did you do any changes for your computer? Since your had mentioned that it worked fine before. Please try system restore to roll back to a time when everything worked fine to see if the issue could be resolved.

  • Viewer window goes white when in pause

    Hi all - I've been working on a multiclip project for a few days now and everything is going fine. Today for some reason in the middle of the workday the viewer window switched to white screen whenever I pause the video. It returns to normal when I press play again. I can still see the timecode and source info over a white background when in pause. Looked at all the view options and nothing seems to have been changed, quit and re-started project to no avail - does anybody know why this is happening? Thanks for you input.
    darryal

    Thanks Meg - that did it! It's strange though; in multiclip editing those options are not available in the viewer window drop down, had to first go to SHOW EXCESS LUMA which then made the RGB option available - and it worked. Thanks again.

  • A checked checkbox is rendered as unchecked in default pdf viewer of firefox. It is checked when the pdf is opened with adobe.

    I am using DynamicPDF to render a PDF. There are multiple check boxes which are checked. When the PDF is opened in Firefox, none of the check boxes are checked. However, when I save the PDF and open with Adobe, check boxes are checked. There might be a problem with the Firefox built in PDF viewer as the built in PDF viewer for other browsers work fine.

    Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
    You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
    You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
    You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).
