Firefox ripple lags when scrolling

Firefox v22 running on windows 7.
When casual browsing I get annoying ripples when i scroll up or down then when I stop scrolling it takes a millisecond to adjust...
I've read others are having the same problem though couldn't find any answers.
It's something you'd expect to see if you were using Firefox through a VNC installed on a machine with a 56k running on the other side of the world >_<

Hello TAJNOST, any luck if you [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_turn-off-hardware-acceleration Turn off hardware acceleration] ?

  • Screen ripple effect when scrolling after installing Mavericks?

Since downloading Mavericks some three weeks ago, my screen ripples (wave effect) when scrolling.
Dominic kindly responded a short time ago with the suggestion it could be Autocad update related.
All traces of Autocad wiped from my machine but still experiencing this ripple effect when scrolling.
Beginning to wish I had not updated to Mavericks.
    Help!!!

Mine too have this on my new MBP ( September 2009).
It's more evident in Safari, but show also in finder while scrolling. It is not related to font antialiasing because enlarging page text in Safari (cmd +) the blurry effect is still there.
I'm very disappointed of lcd screen quality, too much fatigue to eyes.
Could be considered a screen hardware defect?

  • Firefox lags when scrolling

Hi! I've just installed Firefox Beta on my HTC Desire HD and I have a problem. Even though everything seems to work quickly, scrolling lags a lot, even on very simple mobile websites. It's strange, because at the moment when it's not lagging, scrolling is very smooth - it's just that when scrolling, every few moments it just stops or jumps instead of scrolling smoothly. I don't think it's a problem with my phone, because other browsers that I've tried (the built in browser, and Opera Mobile) don't have that problem. Is it a known bug? Does anyone else have it? Can it be fixed somehow?

  • Firefox 5: distortion when scrolling on all web pages; wavey appearance

There is distortion when scrolling on all webpages using Firefox 5. It doesn't matter how fast or slow the scrolling is, the screen becomes wavey until the scrolling stops. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and that hasn't helped. This does not happen using Safari or in any documents or spreadsheets opened outside the Firefox browser.

'''''Its better to take a Screenshot of your Toolbars before performing the following suggestion.'''''
Start Firefox in Safe Mode by Holding down the SHIFT key while Starting Firefox -> Safe Mode window will appear -> place Checkmark on 2nd option "Reset Toolbars and Controls" -> Click "Make Changes and Restart".
Check and tell if its working.

  • Getting ripple effect when scrolling in firefox on macbook pro

only does it on firefox and not on safari

Problems with scrolling can be caused by smooth scrolling that has been enabled by default in Firefox 13.
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General: Browsing: "Use smooth scrolling"
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • Screen display is blurry or ripple effect when scrolling

I have a 15 inch 2.53 Pro and when I am in Safari the screen has a horizontal ripple effect across the screen when I am scrolling. This is slightly worse when I use the vertical scroll bar vs. two-finger scrolling. The overall effect is that the screen is slightly blurry and hard on the eyes to read until the scrolling is stopped. This is a new machine and I have just installed Word suite for students. Any suggestions? I have an iMac that is a few years old and this does not happen on it. Thanks.

  • Firefox 37 Beta on Windows 8.1 has lag and stuttering when scrolling

I just recently got a new laptop, and since the minute I've installed firefox on it there has been lag when scrolling webpages. It seems to start off not too badly, with there being some stuttering when I first open firefox, however it seems like the longer I'm browsing the worse it gets, to the point where sometimes I'll start scrolling and then a second later firefox will just jump to the bottom of the page. Internet Explorer and Chrome both have perfectly smooth scrolling.
I've tried numerous things to fix it already, this is some of the stuff I can remember trying:
-Turning off hardware acceleration and smooth scrolling
    -Starting in safe mode
    -Complete reinstall with new profile
-Updating graphics card and intel drivers
    Specs of the new laptop:
    Core i7
    GTX 970M
    16Gb RAM

When I was trying different versions of Firefox to see if they all had the scrolling problem, I made sure to try 36, 38, and even 31.5 ESL portable. They all have the scrolling problem when my laptop is unplugged. However, when I tried Tor just to see what would happen - bingo! Perfectly smooth scrolling once more. This is especially weird as Tor uses 31.5.3 ESL as a base...
This made me think that it could potentially be a plugin, as Tor doesn't have any plugins installed other than Flash. However, after first disabling, then manually removing, every plugin that was listed in about:plugins the problem continues to persist.
Any idea why Tor would work flawlessly while every other version of firefox suffers the scrolling issue? I couldn't seem to remove the OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, plugin. Is it possible to remove it in order to see if it is causing the problem?

  • Severe chromium lag when compiling via makepkg

I am noticing a pretty severe lag when scrolling or opening a new tab, general usage of chromium when my machine is running makepkg to compile something.  I'd like to get someone to confirm that it's not something odd unique to my system.  Can someone please confirm this?  I recommend building a package that takes some time to compile like a kernel.  Just start makepkg -s in a kernel package and once your cpu(s) get throttled up, try using chromium to browse the forums or whatever.  Any odd effects there as I am describing?

@karol - firefox is just fine.  it happens under bfs and am testing cfq now (building pkg).

  • Scoll Lagging FF7.0.1: fine in safe mode, continues to lag when not even when extensions and plug-ins are disabled (reinstalled, problem continues)

a few days ago, all web pages started to lag when scrolling. Tried safe mode and speed was restored. returned to normal mode and disabled all plug-ins and extension, however, there was no effect upon the scroll lagging. performed a complete Kaspersky virus check with no issues. Other programs on desktop (ex: outlook) are running concurrently at speed without issue. IE is not running with scroll lag.
Oh, BTW, I don't know if it is related, but I was in China last week. and Only noticed this scroll lagging here in the US when I opened it this morning ... so, perhaps there is a site preference issue?

If it boots OK in Safe Mode, the you want to check those possible causes outlined in this article.

  • Pages break up when scrolling

When I scroll pages in Safari, they 'fracture' - i.e. graphics break up, lines of text split, yet when I try to capture the screen to illustrate the problem it fixes itself. What's going on?? Only noticed this since upgrading to 10.5.4 and Safari 3.1.2.

Hi There, Also having breakup lines whilst scrolling in Safari. Doesn't do it on Firefox. Also when scrolling in "Events" in iPhoto Library, the thumbnails break up with white flashing rectangles. Doesn't look so good! Any ideas? Looks like the display doesn't like it somehow.

  • How can I stop the ripple across the screen when scrolling down since I upgraded my Mac to Firefox 4 ?

Since I upgraded to Firefox 4 I am getting a horizontal ripple across the data when scrolling down, which is very disruptive and uncomfortable. How can this be corrected. I am using an IMac with Mac OS X 10.6.7 ?

Same problem on Imac with updated software. Had problem in earlier versions and changed key : <key>CGDisableCoalescedUpdates</key>
<true/> to false and that resolved the problem. It helps somewhat with Firefox 4, but not enough. Is this just a Mac problem or are PCs having the same problem? This may be enough for me to switch browsers or go back to 3.6.

  • Why my Firefox keeps lagging and freezing when scrolling on Facebook?

When scrolling through Facebook it keeps lagging and freezing for a few seconds, and when it happens it says "Connecting..." on the tab title. It keeps happening while I'm scrolling in the Facebook page, and if I leave the tab with Facebook working all Firefox looks a little laggy.
I've tried some possible solutions here in the support but it keeps happening.
It doesn't happen with others browser, such as Chrome.
