FireFox's buttons on the taskbar often change position

Firefox's buttons on the taskbar often change position. If I click on a button frequently (in order to bring the window forward), the button for that window will start to jump to the end of the other buttons. Since the buttons are no longer in the same order, I end up having to search for the right button constantly. This is a huge annoyance.

I am guessing that there is an auto hide feature turned on for your taskbar:
Try this: "Reset taskbar to normal, open FF maximised then set auto hide."

  • STARTING NEW TASK - no button in the taskbar

    Hi experts.
    I present a PDF report from my SAP-application in it's own session, using CALL FUNCTION 'ZXXX' STARTING NEW TASK 'TEST'.
    It works fine but the new session/task has no button in the taskbar.
    If I press ALT+TAB I can see the session on the list, but I would like to see it in the taskbar as well, just like all my other open sessions.
    What is wrong?

    That's fine, but not a solution to my problem.
    Can I make some kind of workarround to show the taskbar-buton?

    My hard drive desktop suddenly will no longer hold or maintain the icons in place when I shut down and restart.  The icons all change positions, alphabetically.  Just started happening.  I prefer the icons to a list format.  Concerned this might be a symptom of a larger problem.  Any thoughts?

    It's normal for the icons at the top level of the startup disk to revert to the same arrangement every time the Finder is relaunched. If it's important to you to arrange those icons in a persistent way, proceed as follows.
    Back up all data.
    Open the Info window on the startup disk (labeled "Macintosh HD" unless you gave it another name.) Click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate.
    In the Sharing & Permissions section, click the plus-sign button to add an entry to the access list. Give yourself "Read and Write" access. This will be a temporary change. Leave the dialog open.
    Open the Finder window and arrange the icons as you wish, then close the window.
    In the Info dialog, use the minus-sign button to delete the entry you just added to the access list. Don't change anything else. When you're done, it should be the same as when you started. Close the Info dialog.

  • The download button on the taskbar does ot open the window/tab/popup with my current/completed downloads. It seems like it is there as the cursor changes.

    I recently purchased a new Windows 8 laptop. On installing the newest version of firefox, I noticed that the download button on the address bar isn't functioning correctly. In other words, when I click it, the button "goes in" and my cursor changes to the pointing finger as if the popup window was there, but it is not visible. I a, left having to open the separate download window with CTRL J.
    If there is no obvious solution, is there a way to change the settings so the separate download window opens automatically, as this is what I was used to with older Firefox versions I used.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • FireFox windows open in the taskbar change position

    Have 3 or 4 windows open. When working on a window it hangs for a few second, then moves to a different position on the taskbar. Happens on my laptop with Vista and new desktop with Windows 7. The window that hangs will move to the last position after hanging. How do I keep the windows open from moving on the taskbar?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I upgraded to version 3.6

    Hello Nordhaus.
    If you rightclick any task in the taskbar you can select to "pin it to the taskbar". That's handy with Firefox because you'll be able to open it from there, instead of going to the start menu.

  • "Conditions" button at the material master - Change the related condition

    There is "Conditions" button at the material master ("Sales: sales org. 1" tab). We can make condition record of PR00 by this button but at our system the condition for the material price is different (it isZPR0 at our system). How can I change the related condition type as ZPR0 for this button?
    Thanks in advance for the answers....

    Check program LMGMMF0Q and FUNCTION SD_COND_GET_DEFAULT_CONDITION for details.
    It looks it is hard coded, but they also mention that Via a user exit (business transaction event), the
    default KSCHL and KOTABNR can be set.

  • How can I stop Firefox 4 from displaying "The document cannot change while Printing or in Print Preview" from appearing every time I click on File/Page Preview?

    Clicking on File/Page Preview in Firefox 4 brings up a warning dialog "The document cannot change while Printing or in Print Preview" every time. How can I stop this from happening? It is very annoying, and it is necessary to click "OK" on this dialog twice before it will go away. Thank you.

    Does it behave that way in [[Safe Mode]] ?
    If it doesn't, then one of your add-ons in the culprit.

    Add the following line to your executable's .ini file
    HideRootWindow=True
    There's a KnowledgeBase item here.

  • How to onclick an image to get the image and change position?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to write a small card game for school project and I need help on this one thing. I woud like the user click on a card (image) get the image name and value and then change position by moving it up a little (a way of saying the user selected the card). Any idea?

    Lookup the UINavigationItem class. I think you'll need to replace the titleView with your own custom view that includes text and image. You can access this from the UIViewController: self.navigationItem.titleView.

  • In Windows 7, is there a way to make Firefox one program in the taskbar, instead of having each tab listed as a seperate program?

    In 3.6, when you clicked on the Firefox icon in the Windows taskbar, you'd be switched to Firefox. Now, in 4.0b, when you click the logo, it displays the tabs you have open and you have to choose on to return to Firefox. It slows down switching between windows. Is there a setting, in Firefox, or windows to change it back to the way it used to work?

    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears
    # This brings up a list of preferences, in the filter box type '''preview'''
    # Double-click on the preference '''<nowiki>browser.taskbar.previews.</nowiki>enable''' to change its value to '''false'''

  • I've installed Firefox 4 and under the Firefox Menu button on the top-left there is no option to set up Firefox "sync". Can you help me with this?

    I thought I had registered before but had to re-register today. I tried to retrieve my old password using my [email protected] E-Mail address but got no response from Firefox.
    I have an HTC Incredible Android phone and would like to use Firefox as my browser on it, and "sync" its operation to the Firefox application I use on my Apple iMAC. Can you help me?

    Hi from Mozilla Services Operations. We just fixed an issue with the "forgot password" process. If you try to retrieve your old password again, you should receive an email at your account's email address with further instructions.

  • Firefox will not display (It will not "open", although it looks like it's open in the taskbar)

    I'm not sure if it's coincidence that it updated itself to 37.0, but it must be...
    When I click on Firefox both on Taskbar and on Desktop icon, it opens on the task bar, when I highlight the task bar it even shows that Firefox loaded Google (my default webpage)... But it never come up on screen.
    I have:
    - Windows 8.0 (not 8.1 and I do not intend on upgrading since it functions better than 8.1)
    - Noscript add-on/plugin, possibly more
    - up-to-date drivers
    I have tried:
    - Uninstalling and reinstalling newest version (37.0)
    - Uninstalling 37.0 and Installing from Firefox website archive 36.0
    - Restarted my computer after installs
    - disabling maintenance service on install
    I have "allow"-ed the install windows popup both times and it doesn't help.
    The first time it tries to open it does go to the yellow background on taskbar of opened programs you haven't used yet...
    However, when I click on it nothing comes on screen. When I highlight it still shows my homepage there. I cannot do the firefox refresh thing because I can't get it to even display. I do NOT get any error messages on my computer, which is more bizarre. I've updated and ran windows defender complete scan and found nothing (but that's not surprising for "defender", lol).
    Once it opens the first time, even opening another page opens nothing. Then it freezes and won't close, even if you right click and try to close all windows... I have to use Task Manager to close it by End task...
    I don't know how to open the troubleshooter "xpi" thing, sorry....
    And not to whine, but why is it so broken all of a sudden XD... And more importantly, how in the world can I get it back working??? I'm using this terrible chrome I was lucky enough to just have on my computer already, which I only had for viewing one single thing a long time ago and forgot I even had Chrome... And as much as I hate using chrome, it's actually working flawlessly for me right now... So please any help will be much appreciated...

    Sometimes the Firefox window gets "off screen" somehow. You often can force it to appear on the screen by right-clicking the little thumbnail image above the Taskbar and choosing Maximize. Does that work?
    One possible cause for this is that the file which stores window sizes and positions has become corrupted.
    '''Method #1:''' ''If you can get a maximized window:''
    Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
    In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.
    Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
    * (menu bar) File > Exit
    Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''xulstore.json''' to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename that one to localstore.old as well.
    Start Firefox back up again. Do windows display normally again?
    '''Method #2:''' ''If you cannot get a Firefox window at all:''
    Shut down Firefox by right-clicking the taskbar icon > Close All Windows.
    Using the Run dialog (windows key + R) or the Start menu search bar (or in Windows 8 maybe the charms bar search bar?) type or paste the following and press Enter to drill down to the Profiles folder:
    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
    Here you may see one folder -- in which case, double-click into that -- or more than one folder -- in which case, double-click into what looks like the most recently updated.
    Scroll down and rename '''xulstore.json''' to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename that one to localstore.old as well.
    Start Firefox back up again. Do windows display normally again?
