Firefox says I have v11 of Adobe Flash Player but Adobe (and Internet Explorer) say I have v16. How to fix this?

According to the the Firefox Add-ons Manager and the plug-in check page, I am running version 11.6.602.180 of Shockwave Flash, so I went to the Adobe website to download the current version (16.0.0.296). Adobe says I am already running the latest version; so does the Add-ons manager in Internet Explorer. What should I do?

Internet Explorer uses a different version of Flash that Firefox does. You need to install and update them both separately.
In your control panel, uninstall Flash 11. Then, install https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=FP_16_for_Firefox_-_NPAPI&standalone=1

  • Flash Player 10.3 and Internet Explorer 9 update and workarounds

    Hello Flash Player community,
We are tracking the issues being reported on Flash Player 10.3.181.14 and Internet Explorer 9 and actively investigating them.  Users are reporting that Flash content is being displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.  We want to give those who are encountering these issues an update.
First, we apologize to everyone affected.  We know you count on Flash Player as an integral component of the web and we strive for high quality and performance in each release.  We are actively looking into the root cause of this issue.  Thanks to many of you submitting information via email and our online bug database, we now have some solid leads we are pursuing.
Flash Player 10 and later can use your system’s graphics hardware to accelerate video decoding, and can also accelerate video presentation on some sites. Starting with Flash Player 10.2, Flash Player will also take advantage of hardware accelerated graphics in Internet Explorer 9, utilizing hardware rendering surfaces to improve graphics performance.
With Flash Player 10.3.181.14, reports indicate that systems with Intel HD Graphics adapters running Internet Explorer 9 are the only systems impacted by this particular bug.  If you are encountering this issue and have a different configuration we'd love to hear from you.  Please review the instructions on this page for details on generating the information we'll need for further investigation.
    Solution #1
Adobe has officially released Flash Player 10.3.181.16 for Internet Explorer to address the graphical issues introduced in 10.3.181.14.  You can get this release by visiting our official download page, directly downloading and running the installer file, or using the Flash Player auto update mechanism.
After installing, we recommend you re-enable hardware acceleration if you had it previously disabled.  We also recommend you clear your browser cache and restart your system.
If you continue to encounter issues, please create a new thread and we'll do our best to investigate further.
    Solution #2
On some systems, you may be able to resolve this issue by updating the Intel HD Graphics drivers. It has been reported that driver versions 8.15.10.2361 and above do not exhibit this bug. Unfortunately, some systems might require updates directly from your system manufacturer. We’re working with system manufacturers to make sure they include the latest drivers in future releases.
    Solution #3
You can disable hardware acceleration in Internet Explorer 9 using the instructions on this page. Please note that you should re-enable hardware acceleration once this problem has been resolved to enjoy the full benefits of hardware acceleration.
    Thank you,
    The Flash Player team

  • Adobe Flash Player not working in Internet Explorer 9

I installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (version 11.7.700.169) and Adobe Flash Player stopped working in Internet Explorer 9. ActiveX filtering is disabled and the Adobe Flash Player add-on is enabled in IE 9. When I try to load the Web page for www.youtube.com, I get a blank screen. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox work fine - both can display the YouTube Web page. Is there a fix for this?

  • Trying to install adobe flash player onto mac using internet explorer 5.2 for mac.

Trying to install adobe flash player onto mac using internet explorer 5.2 for mac.  But the page that I need keeps telling me that Adobe Flash Player still needs to be installed.  I've downloaded AFP several times, and I see it installed correctly on my mac, but the same error message keeps coming up.  All of the support that I see is either for mac or for Internet Explorer, but not for both and not for the version of Internet Explorer that I am using.  Please help.  Thank you.

Wow, IE for Mac is pretty old.  What Mac OS are you using?  I'm 99% sure you're going to need an older version of the Player, but I'll need to know the OS version to figure out which one.

  • Flash player not working in Internet Explorer 10 Windows 8

Flash player is working on Google Chrome, but whenever I use IE to access a site that uses flash, IE tells me I do not have flash and asks me if I want to install it. If I choose yes, then IE will try to download flash player, and when it finishes downloading, it just tells me IE already has the latest version of flash player included. When I go to adobe.com, the version check box is just grey. However, interestingly enough, if I go to youtube home page, the error message comes up on the page saying I need to download flash player, but if I click on a video, it will go to that page, the error message will show for a second then dissappears, and the video will start playing.
I followed the self check procedure described on the Adobe site already, and it all checks out. I wasn't able to find any solution or even anyone with the same kinda problem through google either.
    Any one got any ideas?

  • Flash player not working on internet explorer 8 cipher strength 128-bit

    PLEASE HELP!
I'Mm using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8 with cipher strength 128-bit and Flash player does not work properly, like when I want to watch a music video or listen to music on You Tube it plays then stops and plays and stops continuously I have installed the latest Flash Player but still have the same problem.
    Please please help anyone!

That sounds like you either have a very slow Internet connection, or the server at the other end (providing the video) is slow.
Try clearing your Internet cache; this helps sometimes.

  • When spanning new tabs (firefox) my users are asked to re-authenticate with pages already signed into. Can you tell me how to fix this issue for firefox users?

With some research I found regedit setting called “TabProcGrowth” that allows tabs to span without re-authenticating with certain browsers. Can you tell me how to fix this issue for my Mozilla Firefox users? Our current version of Mozilla Firefox is: 24.5.0 (x86 en-US). This was first noticed with a product called Confluence that we use in our Tech Support area. Users are having to reenter their password every time they click on a new link in confluence. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Hi Bernie:
As long as you are accessing your internal server on http:// or https:// then I would expect the normal rules to apply. To see whether some external requests are being blocked, you might try using Firefox's Web Console, Network tab.
You can open the console in the lower part of a tab using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+k
    * "3-bar" menu button > Developer > Web Console
    * (menu bar) Tools menu > Web Developer > Web Console
Click "Network" on the top bar of the Web Console.
Then use the address bar or a bookmark to launch Confluence in the same tab. Each request made by Firefox should be displayed along with the result. You can click a row for more details.
When I look up "TabProcGrowth" it seems related to the Protected Mode feature of IE8 and newer, which is not (yet) applicable to Firefox. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/askie/archive/2009/03/09/opening-a-new-tab-may-launch-a-new-process-with-internet-explorer-8-0.aspx
However, if Confluence is heavily reliant on plugins such as Flash or Java, that could be a factor because plugins are run out-of-process in Firefox. In that case I suggest checking with Confluence for suggestions.

  • Why does opening some links in Firefox causes a "Server Error in '/' Application Runtime Error" but not in "Internet Explorer"?

When I click on some links in an email (and Firefox is the default browser) I get the following error:
    Server Error in '/' Application.
    Runtime Error
Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
If, however, I click the same links (and Internet Explorer is the default browser) I do not get any error and the proper content of the link is displayed.
What is causing this error? As I prefer Firefox, how can this problem be fixed?
OS Windows 7, Service Pack 1
    Firefox Version 32.0.1
    Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.17280
    Thank you for your assistance.
    Prime

When you look at the address in the address bar, does it seem to match up with the email?
Sounds like Firefox sent the server something it wasn't expecting. Sometimes this can be caused by obsolete or corrupted cookies -- assuming you have visited the site before. It also might be caused by modifications to standard information sent to servers such as the "user agent" string that specifies your browser version and OS.
To clear a site's cookies, while viewing a page on the site, either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • I have restored my ipod many times, yet I still can't back it up because the "session has failed" and error 54. Does anybody know how to fix this?

[Windows user] I have an ipod touch 5th generation 64gb and I can't backup my ipod. I have restored it many times, even in recovery mode, but it still comes up with "iTunes can't backup this ipod because the session has failed," yet it was still plugged in. • I have a MacBook Pro. Lately my volume button is grayed out and not working. Any solutions on how to fix this? Thanks.

I have  an older MacBook Pro (circa 2009). Lately I've noticed my volume button is grayed out and I cannot adjust it. I've tried rebooting. Sometimes it becomes available to use and other times not. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

Reset the SMC.   Check the Audio Midi Setup utility.  If connected to an external display that has audio, that may have hijacked the audio.

  • Adobe Flash Player not compatable with Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

I installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 and I noticed Adobe
Flash Player 10 was not compatable with it, so I had to downgrade
back to Internet Explorer 7. Does anybody know if Adobe is
developing a flash player that is compatable with IE 8? I know IE 8
is still in beta, but when it gets released I want to be able to
download it and have Adobe Flash Player work in it.

I am on my home computer and version 10.2.159.1 is installed.   Interestingly, it appears that it is installed correctly.   I can view Youtube flash videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8tSMKGbnW0 and browse to the Adobe home page and view the flash.  However, if I go to certain websites

It tell me to update my flash player.   It works fine in Firefox.

  • How to restore Adobe Flash Player for 32 bit Internet Explorer of Windows 8.1 64 bit?

Default Windows 8.1 64 bit install runs Internet Explorer 11 32 bit and all it's features, but slight disturbance for install of integrated applications runs user in such a trouble of loopback which he or she cannot escape, because problem application doesn't
runs for Windows or for it's programs, won't show it's Windows existence but wouldn't allow install of it's new software, I could only install complete new program for Windows program to run desired object.
I am using Rocket browser for Internet Explorer 11 32 bit because of problem of Adobe Flash Player uninstall or install.
But how many applications do I have to search, trial and if at all successful install for use because of problems of such applications of Windows?

As we have reviewed in other threads on the same topic. Internet Explorer for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 make use of separate management and content processes which on the desktop in a 64 bit environment are 64 bit and 32 bit respectively.
This is explained here on the IEInternals blog.
In most scenarios, the multiple processes are entirely transparent to the browsing experience. 32 bit addons continue to load and interact as expected with the content processes in which they are run and web scripts which detect browser architecture continue
to function, detecting a 32 bit browser.
In the Modern UI experience, the scenario is even more transparent as support for addons such as Flash and JavaScript are integrated into the 64 bit processes and updated through standard Windows Updates.

Answer for problem simply Got it !
Internet Explorer 11 needs websites 'Trusted', add all pages in need of running addons, and rest Windows operating system handles.
Now I am listening to songs on Windows Media Player (T3 skin) from a website which earlier messaged Adobe Flash Player not installed refusing playing songs, but now running programs without installing Adobe Flash Player.

  • I have a MacBook Early 2009, when I open Adobe Reader and try to put text in the blanks, which I used to be able to do. It always closes on me. I am running OS 10.7.5 and Adobe 11.0.04. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am trying to place text in an Adobe Reader document. I have done this hundreds of times. Everytime I click on the text icon it Adobe crashes. How can I fix this.

Yes, it will do no harm, but it is meant for trouble shooting and you should not have to use it all the time.

  • Adobe flash player 10 installed on internet explorer 8?

somehow i got it installed by clicking the agree and install button thingy multiple times with the scroll button o.0??
was wondering if it works with u guys

Hi, hold off on doing any Uninstalling/Installing from a website. Using IE, go to Tools, Manage addons, click on Toolbars &
Extensions and find Shockwave Flash Object. Make sure it is Enabled.
They you can check your files at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back all files listed there.
This will confirm your Flash Player Install.
    Thanks,
