Firefox says I need to update Java plugin 2 but there is no available update on Apple software update

no apple update

Thanks for the info. I checked and the version of Java on my Mac is 1.60_29 (20.4-b02-402), which is the latest version for OS X 10.6.8, correct? I also note that I have a pop-up when I go into email which states that my browser is blocking Flash, and I should upgrade to Flash 9. I think that my version is Flash 11, and the plug in is up to date. I note a similar comment from another user. I updated to Firefox 11.0 on March 16th. No other changes. Java plugin still reads update

  • HT2311 iTunes will not install, it says I need version 10.6.8? But there are no available updates.

I just bought new I5. It won't connect to Itunes( The iPhone “iPhone” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.).
I try to download new Version of Itunes. It says that i need version Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.
How can I update to a newer version when my computer tells me there are no available updates?? I am confused!!

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

I am running on 3.6 and screen constantly reminds me I am not on latest version however when I download it does not install - wht do I need to do to install after it is downloaded and saved?

According to your user agent string you are using Firefox 4 and not beta 11

  • Plug ins screen says I need to update Java, and when I do I'm told the install was stopped

The Plug-Ins screen tells me I need to update Java. I click update and everything is fine until the install. I am told that 'the install failed because it was interrupted before it could be completed'. Java says that I am running the latest version, Version 7 update 51, but Firefox says I need to update. What gives?

Long story short, you do not need to update.
More info, please see: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/990988 Firefox 28.0 is indicating that my installed Java SE 7 U51 is vulnerable (2014 03 20)].

  • Upgraded to yosemite and cannot open iphoto. It says I need to update the latest version and then says it is not available in the Australian store?

Upgraded to yosemite and cannot open iphoto. Its say i need to upgrade the latest version but it is not available in the Australian store?

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • On YouTube, I can't play playlists there. It says I need to update my Java and it is updated already. When I go to different sites like Yahoo! the links and images are all distorted. This is the second time this has happened to me now

    Hello Firefox,
I am having problems with my Firefox's image processor I believe. My web browser is fine but then a few minutes later I get some weird look on my page. It then just stays here and I can't fix it. When I go to Yahoo all the links and images do not look normal. I really cannot explain this and wish I could send a picture instead. When I go to the Log in page for Facebook I do not see the image of the small faces networking around the world. It's blank and the links are widely spread apart. With YouTube the page is also distorted. Nothing is arranged properly. I can watch videos. However when I go to someone's profile or a playlist videos cannot play or show up. It says I need to update my Java player and it is already updated. It still happens when I uninstall and re install back. I was only able to fix this problem by uninstalling everything related to Firefox. I do not know how to solve this any other way. I don't like it when all my information is lost such as saved passwords and bookmarks. If there is any way to solve this thanks. I don't want to uninstall this again.

Your above posted list of installed plugins doesn't show the Flash plugin for Firefox.<br />
See [[Managing the Flash plugin]] and [[Installing the Flash plugin]]
You can check the Adobe welcome and test page: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

    Enable plug-ins.
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Web content:
Is the box next to "Enable plug-ins"  checked?
    Best.

  • Trying to update a plugin, I do, then reboot but when I check it the plugin checker says I need to update it.

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_plugins#Identifying_installed_plugins
You can see the installed plugins on the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aplugins about:plugins] page.<br />
If you set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page then you see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.<br />
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.<br />

  • Why, after updating plug-ins thru firefox's system [specifically adobe acrobat 10.1.4.38] it doesn't recognize it and says I need to update ?

This has been happening on & off for awhile. I've tried updating thru firefox, uninstalling & updating in firefox, and within acrobat. It says its updating but the version doesn't change & can't find any evidence it did. Even uninstalling it still reinstalled 10.1.4.38 - the same version I've had since started using firefox.
By the way, today I updated 'Shockwave Flash' thru same place & update said it still needed to update (cant remember which version it said) but I had disabled ''Shockwave for Director'. When I enabled it the update stopped saying it needed Flash update.
Any chance there is a link between Acrobat & something else similar to the 'Director' that will assist in update recognizing it? A distant cousin-program?

Thank you so much jscher2000. You must be a '''God of Geeks''' cause nobody would tell me what they are all for & whether I needed them or not. And there you just rattled them off like it was no effort at all. You are my lucky day - the kind that only happen once a year. Thank you, me & my freshly broken leg will appreciate it and now I'm downloading that Secunia program. Gonna find them buggers and fix my 'puter good! HAHA! 8)

  • HT1338 I use gotomypc and since I downloaded mountain lion I am unable to launch the program.  It says I need to install java but when I go to "software update" it says there are no updates.  Any ideas?

Ever since I updates to mountain lion I can' use gotomypc because it says I need to install java.  When I follow the instructions to install by going to software update there is nothing to update in the app store.  How do I manually install java?

just found an answer on another feed
    Re: mountain lion java
In spotlight, type in Java, and click on Java Preferences in the list - it will then start downloading and installingthe new version. (my java version is now 1.6.0_33-b03-424)

  • Firefox keeps prompting users to disable java plugins How can reinable them through the command line or registry?

Windows users keep getting prompted about java version being insecure and are advised to disable the plugin. They then complain that java based websites no longer work. Can I disable / prevent this warning feature. And can I re-enable java plugin via command line or script? I need to do this on a large scale and various versions of firefox. Right now I will need to abandon firefox if I cannot easily resolve this. Yes I realize updating to latest version of java is a solution... but this will take too much time now and how long before another security fix for java and then I will have to update yet again.

Tylerdowner, to say that Firefox 3.6 is no longer supported is not an answer. Apparently, the so-called block deployed for the Mac OS X version of Firefox, created to deal with a vulnerability in Oracle's Java, has now crept into the Windows version. Moreover, it is blocking the latest version of Java, which was not intended according to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=741592. The official text of the block follows:
Java Plugin has been blocked for your protection.
    Why was it blocked?
Outdated versions of the Java plugin are vulnerable to an actively exploited security issue. All Mac OS X users are strongly encouraged to update their Java plugin through Software Update, or disable it if no alternatives are available. For more information, please read our blog post or Oracle's Advisory.
    Who is affected?
All Firefox users who have installed the Java plugin, JRE versions below 1.6.0_31 or between 1.7.0 and 1.7.0_2.
    What does this mean?
Users are strongly encouraged to disable the problematic add-on or plugin, but may choose to continue using it if they accept the risks described.
When Mozilla becomes aware of add-ons, plugins, or other third-party software that seriously compromises Firefox security, stability, or performance and meets certain criteria, the software may be blocked from general use. For more information, please read this support article.
Well, whoever wrote the code to block the Java plug-ins specified above screwed up, since it is blocking even the updated Java plug-in.
I have an enterprise with many computers, and we had deployed Firefox as our browsing platform. Based on the latest decisions at Mozilla, new version numbering, forced release cycle, and almost all add-on vendors just walking away from the maintainence nightmare created by this decision, I guess it's time to move over to the Dark Side and adopt Google Chrome.
