Firefox says it is running but doesn't show up anywhere that it is?

I tried to start firefox (the newest version) in safe mode, but I accidentaly pushed the restart button instead of the start in safe mode button. After that, a loading bar appeared, and then we lost power before it could do whatever it was doing. After we got power back, I tried to start firefox again, but it keeps saying that it is running. I've already tried looking through the task manager, but firefox doesn't appear anywhere in it. I've also tried deleting the parent lock thing, but it still says that it's running. What can I do to fix it? I've got windows 7 if that helps.

You appear to have more than one profile already. Maybe these will turn out to belong to other users, or you have used Reset Firefox.
When looking for Firefox and trying to kill it with task manager, also look for plugincontainer that could also be running.
You have not said what your OS is. Possibly an upgrade is trying to complete and failing,no doubt it is possible to kill that but I am not sure how. (IIRC someone recently posted about how to do that in Windows 7 but I can not find that post, at present, and I do not know what your OS is)
Deleting ''profile.ini'' will create a new profile ,but a better alternatives may be
* use ResetFirefox option (I only recommend that to novices)
* create a new profile, (keep both the old and the new one) troubleshoot by starting the new one see

Hey, Facetime for Mac has worked fine for me forever, but now when I try and open it it says it's open but I can't find it anywhere and it doesnt seem to actually be running. I've tried closing and reopening it multiple times, as well as restarting the computer. No updates show up in the app store either.

I had this problem before back in the end of November and all of December mail will stop loading and doesn't show up this in the account settings OTHER . I have deleted the account and reloaded it did a hard restart still the same it starts and says downloading but it doesn't show up on the phone this is doing the same thing on my ipad also . So one would think it is the server for my email account it is not because it works fine on my mack air and also the imac so I'm confused what would be the next step any ideas ?

Downloads such as adobe flash update won't download even when anti virus is disabled. The download box appears and runs but doesn't show anything.

Any updates or downloads won't download in Firefox. The download box appears, goes thru the motions but doesn't park anything in the file. I usually have to quite Mozilla, use Explorer for the download, such as Go to Meeting, or Adobe updates. Can't download anything with Firefox from your browser.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

When trying to open an external link like updating a program firefox says its already running but is not responding how do I fix this?

Basically when I try to update Ccleaner or any other program tries to open a link it shows this error message. Like when I try to start BF3 from origin It shows the error message so I have to open battlelog by typing it into the browser. I dont recall me having this issue on my windows 7 64 bit laptop, but on my windows 7 32 bit desktop I have the problem. Any and all help is appreciated.

Make sure that you do not start Firefox with the -no-remote switch or have set the environment variable MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 (Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment variables).

Can't get software to dowload on iPhone 3, says it's dowloading but doesn't show any progress

I'm trying to download software for my iphone 3 but even though it says its dowloading the loading bar hasn't even started and ive left it alone for an hour. Does anyone know what the problem might be? thanks!

Once I turn off the browser and then try to use it later, I get a message saying its already running but not responding. tells me to close it which I cant do since its already closed. Forces me to restart my computer

Recently, I tried to start up Firefox and no browser appeared. Not sure of what to do, I uninstalled Firefox and installed the latest version. I have still have the same problem. The process appears to be running in the task manager, but no browser window ever comes up. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (operating system is up to date minus two security updates). I believe that I installed v9.0.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem - every time I close firefox (using either the red x or by selecting file ---> exit) the program appears to close normally, but the firefox.exe *32 process continues to run. If I try to re-open firefox normally I get a message that the program is still running and I need to go into task manager and manually kill the process.
I could also kill the process from the command prompt, but both of those methods are slow and annoying. This issue has only been occurring for the last 24 hours or so; to the best of my knowledge I haven't downloaded any new software or updated any plug-ins that would have caused a switch from firefox's normal awesomeness. Norton doesn't show any new viruses or other nastiness on my computer.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

Hi, this problem is also happening to me also. I just took some pics of my daughter on my nikon d3100 and imported them from SD card to iPhoto. It says 'preparing to import' but during the process i do not see the photos being imported. After it was done, there was a new event album, i clicked opend it to see my photos but all of them were blank. I'm not sure what you mean by the "music library" - are you looking in the Music app? Or the iTunes app (which is not the one to be looking in)?

Check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.
