Firefox says MS Hotmail sec cert is not valid and will not open page

Question

I see similar problems but no answers. This issue pertains to Firefox (Light) v 28. I did not have the issue with v 27 and affects Hotmail but not gmail (?). This is what I get when I try to log in:
Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to login.live.com. Certificate type not approved for application. (Error code: sec_error_inadequate_cert_type)
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

Firefox Light is a 3rd party build, not an official Mozilla release. ''I wonder how long it is before the developer of that project gets a visit from Mozilla Legal over his use of trademarks and logos?''
