Firefox Search gives Google results with Netherlands as home location

Previously when I did a search in the Firefox search window I got results in the Google site relevant to where I was located. When in Ireland I would get google.ie, in the UK I would get google.co.uk.
Now I am in Ireland but am getting results in google.com, but my location is coming up as Netherlands. The instructions on my screen are in Dutch and I am asked if I only want results from Netherlands. This is not a problem of language, as the results come up on English, but the system thinks I'm in the wrong place.

iphone 5 search in app store always gives blank result all the time, please advise how to solve? It worked several times when I first used the phone from unboxed, but since then, it never work again. Could you please advise how to fix? Thanks

Try reseting (not just turning off) your phone: hold down the Home button and the Power button on the top until the Silver Apple appears (ignore the red slider if it appears). See if the reset clears things up!

  • Is there any way to disable the firefox search option when you long press the home button on Samsung Galaxy S5 Active?

I have an S5 Active and sometimes the home button sticks and registers as a long press which brings up Firefox search instead of going to the home screen. Is there any way to disable Firefox Search so that this doesn't happen. I Love the Firefox browser but if this keeps happening I will have to uninstall it.

hello djpianalto, you could clear the default settings for firefox on android within the system settings (like described in this [http://www.howtogeek.com/195885/how-to-set-and-clear-a-default-app-on-an-android-device/ external article]).
or try an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hk.sld.SwipeLaunchDisabler

  • After searching in Google, resulting links will not open, get a 'Firefox not responding' message. What is the solution? Ray Allum

After doing a Google search for web sites, the reultant links will not open, a 'Firefox not responding' shows in the URL bar.

I had the same problem and my solution was to disable the PDF extension that came with Firefox 4 which belongs to another company. I found out that it wast interfering with ReaderX. I unabled it and restarted Firefox. I have had no problems since then. Go to Tools, Add-On and click on Extensions and disable the PDF extension. I hope this helps

  • I want to use Firefox but I can't stand the new Google, even when I select Bing as my search engine Google comes up on my home page. I will not use Firefox if I cannot get rid of Google

Ever since the "improved Google" came out I hear a constant irregular clicking in the background as if Google is updating or checking Data. I cannot stand their new format either, giving me junk advertising that I did not want or ask for. I was a huge Google fan before they really started going for maximum profits now I just want them out of my browser. I tried Opera but like Firefox much better, except for the fact that I cannot extract Google from the home page no matter what I do, it apperas to be in the registry too.

    Please do the following.
    * In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.
    * In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''
    * Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://bing.com/results.aspx?q=
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "''Copy Link Location''" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.
    * Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General '''
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.
After you complete the above steps, install this add-on to prevent another search engine from modifying your preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/

  • Context Type Search returning wrong results with "ME" in the SEARCH

    </user>
    select * from TEST
    where
    contains(testdata,
    'me inpath(/user/givenname) &(victor inpath(/user/givenname))') > 0
This should not result in any results but it does show the record out.
What is it we have to do deal with the word "ME". It works fine for any other values.

Since "me" is a default stopword, searching for "me" and "Victor" is like just searching for "Victor", so it returns the row with "Victor" in it. If you want to be able to search for "me", then you need to either remove "me" from your existing ctxsys.default_stoplist using ctx_ddl.remove_stopword or specify another stoplist during index creation that does not contain me or an empty stoplist. You will need to drop and recreate your index after changing or modifying stoplists in order for the changes to take effect. Please see the demonstration below. I have added a couple of rows so that it is clearer what is and is not returned. You can check the token_text column of your dr$...$i index to see what it is tokenized, indexed, and searchable.

  • Using the 4-11 beta; I can't rid the start up screen of Yahoo search..Firefox Start w/Google is squeezed to the left, behind the Yahoo search.

Recently, using Firefox 3, Yahoo Search took over the screen..previously it opened with Google. I had also downloaded MS word 2010 recently. Hoping (lol) Firefox 4-11 B would set things right, it was downloaded. Now we open with Firefox Search w/Google squeezed to the left (1/7 of the screen), overlaid by Yahoo search. I'm running XP OS.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • How to do the second search in the Result set? Thanks

    Hi:
I am going to implement a function so called "search in the result", with Tomcat 5 and Mysql 4.11
The user will give out some conditions first , with these conditions, do the first search.
Then they give some other conditions to do the advance search in the result from the first search.
i dont wanna do the sec search with the combine conditions of first and second ones. as u know this will involve too much database retrieve.
can i save the first search as the temp table or view? and then do the sec search directly from this temp table or view. is it possible in the JSP ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If u want to visit database only once follow this approach.
Store the results of first query in a HashMap where the primary key of th table shld be made the key objects of Map and the values should be a Vector conating values of other clumns in database.
Now, when user wants to refine the search with more criteria, just use vector.contains() method to check wether the new criteria are ther in values vector. If it there means the current key in hashmap satifies the refired criteria. So, retain this row. And any row which does not satisfy the refined criteria, remove that key-value pair from HashMap.
    Hope this helps.

  • The search bar in the top right hand side of my screen works fine, but the main search bar in the middle of the home screen doesn't at all; do you know how I can fix this?

I can access bookmarked pages, pages that are on a saved RSS feed, and can search the web using the top right-hand bar on my screen. However, the main bar, in the center of the home page (not sure of the correct name) will not do anything - whether I press search, or hit enter on my keyboard. There also appears to be another bar underneath that, which I can press, but it remains useless.
My Dad is running Firefox 4 on his computer, and has showed me what it is meant to look like. I can therefore conclude that there is definitely something up with mine.
I am currently using Firefox 4 with my laptop, which runs Windows 7.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 4, but the problem still remains. I am not keen to use Internet Explorer, purely because I have bookmarked so many pages on the previous version of Firefox but also because I get on very well with the whole layout etc.
If it comes to it, I am willing to take the risk of losing my bookmarks, but if there are any suggestions at '''''all''''' of how I could possibly fix this problem, I would welcome them.

    Go to this address: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?country=AU
Item 24 lists 3 installable major search engines for Australia.
You can also restrict your search in Google by including ''country:au'' or ''location:au'' or ''city:perth'' (for example) in your search terms. Example: ''city:sydney plumbers'' in the Google search box will list plumbers in cities named sydney.

  • I Hate Bing and when I click on a Firefox NEW Tab and search I keep getting Bing results, I used to get Google which I would like back, my homepage when opening Firefox is not Bing but all tab searches retrieve Bing results.

My homepage when opening Firefox is not Bing, yet for some reason today it started using Bing instead of Google for my NEW tab search results. I already deleted Bing from the search bar, no results. Deleted Bing from my computer's control panel. I just want to be able to click a new tab and have my results in google as I always have.

  • Firefox appends 'www' to results in a Google search

I'm using Firefox 4, and all the results of a search in Google have 'www' in the url (in green). That doesn't happen on IE.
For example, if you search using the keyword '''inurl:https://''' you may see results like:
    www.https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/
    www.https://sede.ine.gob.es/
    www.https://www.bankinter.com/
I don't know if it is a bug on Firefox, or something with Google, but just wanted to post it here because the same isn't happening on IE.

You can modify the pref <b>keyword.URL</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".
    * Google "I'm Feeling Lucky": http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

    Hello Susanne.
You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.
